Best kick mic

This is my favorite kick mic.

Great for a mid-scoped sound.

Great microphone if you want a pre-eq:ed mid-scoped sound. Good dynamic range and could be used for any genre as long as the EQ is not an issue.

Great kick mic

The enhanced low and perfectly set attack frequency makes this the best kick mic on the market.

Perfect for what it aims to be

Everyone taking even a cursory glance at this microphone's frequency response is aware, that this mic targets Rock and Metal productions...and it totally nails it.

Place it correctly and it produces a big, yet precise bottom-end with all the necessary high end to stand out in a Mix. There's barely a need to EQ it, I usually only compress it.

It lacks the Features like switchable frequency responses of the V-Kick or a switchable Pad, but if you produce in the aforementioned genres, this is a must-have.

Fantastic drum mic

Audix makes great mics! This one is fantastic on both kick and toms. It's not flat in it's frequency response by far, but the sound is excellent. It gives me both the thud and the click in one mic. I mainly mix rock music so I'm not necessarily looking for the most "authentic" sounding kick drum though.

For genres where you want a more acoustic and natural drum sound there might be better mics. But if you want your kick to cut through heavy guitars, this is one of the best mics you'll find.

I kinda want to compare it to the Shure Beta 52A, but tuned even harder for "that" kick sound. And it's not nearly as big and heavy as the Beta (it's under half the weight), so no need to use a double round base stand to keep it from tipping over.

Fantastic Kick Drum Mic! I use it on the inside of a 18" Kick drum and gives me nice attack and a big bottom end. I have tried others kick mics in the past and this one has been the best so far. Great build and quality.

Einfach ein geiles BD-Mikrofon!

Durch das "Badewannen"-Sounding und der hohen SPL-Resistenz ist dieses Mikrofon einfach perfekt für die Bassdrum. Sehr viel Low-End und Attack. Für härtere Gangarten gibt es m.M.n. in diesem und auch höheren Preisbereichen keinen Vergleich!

Wenn man einen sehr räumlichen oder sehr natürlichen Bassdrum-Sound möchte (für Jazz o.ä.) gäbe es bestimmt auch passendere Optionen.

I simply loved it from the first session, clear bass response and improved live performance. i use it for back of a cajon or an djembe, in studio for low tuned percussions, it works perfect. Durable and all i need from this mic is achieved

A MUST HAVE for anyones kick mic locker!

This is by far the best mic I've ever used for recording metal kicks. I'm generally more of a fan of the vintage kick sound and the AKG D112, but this mic has really broken the mold for my recordings.

It's sturdy, sounds amazing, but I can't see myself using it on anything other than the kick drum.

Awesome on floor tom, and kick!

This is my second D6, bought it to use on the floor tom for metal/rock bands, already having one to use on the kick. For the kick i pair it with a Beta 91a, both of these mics are great on their own, but put them together and they're huge. Plus its great to know if the cable to either of them goes faulty i can mix the rest of the show with either mic.

They both pair well with LP Claws, for discrete positioning.

It was either this or the AKG D112. We have been very happy with this. As you know if you are reading this the mic is quite heavily EQd out of the box

Sounds great to us. Like other Audix mics, feels sturdy

Good Kick Out mic to use on a heavier genre of music. Gives a more punchy kick and polish finish. Only down side is the mic clip they supplied with- it can break easily so have a spare mic clip handy.

no brainer kick mic…

sounds like it should if you're IN for rock metal or just edgy kick sound this is it!

in situation where the kick sound bad whatever you do.. its a life saver!
