I bought this microphone cause is the best, quality/price, for Pro users!

Excellent tube mic for the price...

offering room for the easy and not so expensive upgrades as well.

It sounds great on vocals and acoustic instruments and after several years of use it still gets on the stand even though there are several more expensive and more reputable microphones in the drawer. We achieved great results with several CV12s on a baroque recorder quartet.

It offers everything what you expect from a tube mic, all of that at an affordable price.

Great for the money

Usually I'm using this microphone on my vocal recordings. There are multiple pattern options to utilize it in any case. In one project I used it as a room mic, and it is just great. Frequency response is very flat. Just a sweet bit of a touch on 10k area. I used many microphones in industry. But to compare A, B, I had a c414, which I loved, after CV-12 they just feel a little artificial.

I am no material quality guy. But once you open the case and grab the equipment, you can easily understand it has a solid build quality. Moreover, classy wooden case and nice metal case, a pair of substitute shock mount webs... I mean it's more than expected I guess.

What I interest the most in a mic is the results. And it is fantastic for the money. I mean if you want to upgrade this mic, you'd have to go at least twice as expensive as this one, in order to see a significant difference.

Very pleased to meet you CV-12

Perfect for Vocals

Got this mic a few months back and it has not ceased to amaze with the sound. Built quality is also impeccable as it feels super sturdy and well built. Would definitely recommend for a vocal main either for male or female vocal.

Huge step up

Only got this mic a short while ago, but it's already dramatically changed the level of recordings I can make.

I use it primarily on vocals, but also on acoustic guitar and percussion.

Works beautifully with no fuss, gorgeous construction. Couldn't recommend more highly.

It's budget, and it shows

Got the mic as I was interested to see what the effect of a tube mic would be on some sources. The mic disappointed sonically. It lacked lower mid's and it has a very annoying frequency around 4-5kHz, which needed a 15db cut to get rid off. Also the spin isn't very strong. As soon as you put a little force on it, the elastics detach and aren't very easily repositioned. Sold it after 2 months.

Warmy dude

Well, maybe one of the best investing in my studio.

Warm, soft, full body sound.

Most of all I use it in piano and voice recording.

I have a Grand Piano Yamaha GB1, and it is about 11 years in exploitation. Grand piano now has a bright and a bit striking sound. But with that mic - I achieved a warm and beautiful tembre, maybe a bit vintage sound. But it is amazing. Especialy, for that price.

Also tested it with RODE K2. In my opinion - CV-12 is more "tube" mic, than K2. Without metal in high freq.

Pros:

- Great, warm sounding mic

- Balanced frequency responce

- Comfortable case for transporting

- Pleasant design

Cons:

- The shockmount is not strong enough. Requires carefull managing. It is very easy accidentally to take off the rubber and drop the mic.

- Placement of XLR sockets and turn on button on power supply is not very comfortable for managing.

Great mic

Overall this is a great mic, the tube gives a nice warm sound to the lows and mids. Comes with its own special pre-amp with so many pick up patterns, so can create some very unique hybrid patterns. The top end can be a bit harsh especially when it comes to the s's and t's sounds, but combined with a dessesser this is can be filtered out.

Price is great for what it is and comes in a cool looking wooden box. Feels very well made overall.

Getting it in and out of the mic holder can be quite annoying as you have to use a screwdriver to release and tighten it.
