Behringer Odyssey 5-stars Reviews
beast
I owned the rack version by Korg and went with the BR clone and never look back. classic sound in an affordable sound
Big sound in a small box!
I love my Behringer Odyssey, the Low pass filter gets DEEP, and the twin oscillators can get thick and bassey or glassy smooth.
the sequencer is absolutely fantastic! but it can be confusing at times as there is no guide on how to work it
the construction of the body is extremely well built, ive taken it to band practice and it survived being dropped like twice
Great analog monosynth
I love everything about it, from the quality of the materials to the sound, it is fun to play and great to record, but Behringer made the wrong decision to give it a mono audio output after adding digital effects ... chorus, delay and reverb need stereo ouputs. .
Tank
This thing is built like one. Steel toecapped boots recommeded when using. Dropping it on your foot will do serious damage. It has a great quality keyboard and the overall built quality is great - sliders are good.
I dont really understand why a mic cable socket is used for one of the two audio outputs when most behringer gear comes with jack plug sockets.
The mono klark teknik effects are ok but not stunning.
Those are the only two slight negatives for me. Other than that its all very good and highly recommended. Its probably the best of all the behringer reissues so far in my opinion.
Excellent
Behringer has quirks but its no different than when buying a vintage synth. I say go for it . Amazing synth for the price.
Superb synth, beautiful analog sound!
I cannot say whether this is an exact replica of an ARP Odyssey as I have never owned one, but going on comparison reviews I watched prior to purchasing I believe its is extremely faithful.
For my part, having owned this synth for a year now, I can only recommend it. I love this piece of gear! It sounds lovely, it has great tactile controls (thank ARP I guess for that design), it is well built (actually it is built like a tank, heavy and solid). I use it on everything now, and even though I own a few synths, I think it could be my favourite!
As for pros and cons - pros are above, cons, I would say you need some space for this synth and a decent solid base for it, as it is heavy, but other than that, can't fault it!
Amazingly good!
I own an Arp Odyssey, wanted another one, didn't want to break the bank and decided to give a chance to this version.
All I can say... It sounds and feel wonderful!
Don't know how the made it but this is a killer instrument.
BUT! Don't get fooled that this is an Odyssey. Sounds like Odyssey but it's not. It's a different instrument from another brand with a slightly different sound.
Anyways, should you bother? Absolutely!
The only think I don't really like is the sequencer and the feel the buttons have. I rarely use it though, so not a big problem.
Get it, add some fx, get lost in space. Whiououou!
LOL
Who ever thought you could own a synth like this for such a low price? That Behringer guy and his team went full outlaw and basically gave us an ARP synth circuit in a metal built like a tank case (I didn't give it 5 points because of the keys, they are not the best built keys). This synth is the only behringer product I own, but it only made me have much respect for those guys. Thank you.
A 70's Synth Dream
The keybed isn't great, the filter slope has a bit of a glitch, but the sounds are so thick, so fat, so chunky, I don't care. The sequencer and arp are super fun and it can double up as a Christmas tree.
Phenomenal clone and more
I have always wanted an ARP Odyssey, but prices of vintage instruments are sky high. Two options were in top of my list. Korg Full size Odyssey and Behringer's Odyssey as much more cost effective option. I went for Behringer Odyssey and am very satisfied with purchase.
Pros:
- Built like a tank,
- full sized,
- built-in sequencer,
- reasonably good keys (excellent for the price!).
Cons:
- reasonably good keys,
- really short cable on external power supply,
- would prefer a built-in power supply myself, but, that's just me :-)
All in all excellent clone, offering hours and hours of great fun!
Amazing
I have most of the behringer synths, this is my favorite so far.Its one of the most flexible monosynths and it sounds great.Build quality is top notch.
Top Synth
If you want a complete remake of the original this is the one to buy, nicely constructed it is really heavy as the sound of it, you can make your patches, this is one of the most loved one synths in my collection, a joyment of sound for leads and basses, no problems at all the olny downside (probably) for some of you is that you will need to manual tune the oscillator via a tuner.
Great instrument
This is a gem. Simple, but very playable.
Best synth
Cant believe the sound this machine provides. Best value for money. Arp and sequencer not that great though, also most fx suck since it has only one mono output. But the sound omg!!!
Really great synth for the prise !
Sounds really good
I was surprised how good it sounds, a really warm and bright sound from this synthesizer. The added effects and sequencer are also a big bonus. The synth is heavy, since it's the first ''full metal'' Odyssey. Great purchase.
It's like a beast!
The synth it's very close to the 70' original Arp for look and sound too Itry it trhoug my Allen & Heat 16 fx mixer what can i only say it's a beast the bass sound it's aggressive fat and big the for lead is obvius great the addictional Beribnger feature are great too!Great Deal!
Odyssey
Very pleased with the Behringer Odyssey.
Ive always wanted an ARP Odyssey & love its tones on many 70s & 80s albums & this version holds up nicely, though its early days yet, only had it a week, but I love it.
I wanted the Korg reissue, because it has ARP screenprinted on it & didnt want the sequencer or effects on this, but I wanted the full size keyboard version & the Korg is rare & 3 times more expensive. So Im happy with this one despite its added effects which I dont like much for my usage except for the 'echo', which is nice .They can be bypassed anyway.. It is an Odyssey & sounds like it
Great sounding and beautiful synth
Build quality is excellent, sliders are soft and beautiful, and the sound is warm, deep, analog.
There are no functions to save your patches, recall patches or presets, it's just you and the sliders, and this connects you more with the instrument. Every sound it makes is a sound you have set up yourself. This makes sound design and playing a true hands-on experience!
It's a great synth. And for the price.... It is incredible.
Fantastic
This sounds so incredible good, it goes so deep, has so much oompf... It's a fantastic synth!
