Behringer Powerplay P2 Reviews
Works great
This amplifier just works. I use it as a drummer, as a guitarist, as a backing singer, and the cable does not realy bother me. For rehearsals it's great, and i will be using it live too, but with my guitar wireless, to not get any cables tangled up. Materials are fine, combination of plastic and metal, but it does feel a little bit flimsy. The metal housing could have been a bit sturdier.
It does what it is made for
Surely there are better products , but not for this price (not even close). Its decent quality material, loudness is ok for the stage, its light... I bought it, i use it for giggs. Have no complaints for this price.
Simple but reliable
Not the most fancy of IEM setups, but its an easy and reliable way to do cabled IEM. I have used it for a few years now and it holds up, good stuff!
Works as intended
No issues, it works as intended.
Rigid, perfect solution for your IEM needs
Not wanting to deal with wireless systems I chose Behringer Powerplay P2 for both, my singer and I. As I am mostly sitting while playing guitar and singing being hooked to a wire wasn't a deal breaker. One knob operation and the quality of sound (not to mention the battery life which is far longer than my 4 hour gigs) proved a no-brainer choice over similar products. If you are a keyboard, guitar or any other "stationary" player Behringer Powerplay P2 is the right tool for the job!
Great device for gigs that offer in ear monitoring.
Many gigs these days, local and beyond offer in ear monitoring . This device makes that possible. There are more digital mixers being used for corporate and wedding band events, and some of them offer personal monitoring from a mobile phone or tablet. This is the perfect device, well built, sturdy, and good sound quality. I carry it with me everywhere, just in case the opportunity arises.
Does exactly what it says on the tin
This doe exactly what you need it to do. I have used this for a few years now and i can honestly say it is amazing. The batteries last around 5 shows that are around 2 hours long each. Highly recommend this product.
Very compact personal in-ear monitor system with some Wireless IEM hack
This is a very compact personal in-ear monitor system and these are great IEM systems for anyone who does not need a wireless system. BUT if you need Wireless IEM setup that don't cost hundreds or thousands euros, here is one TIP: DIY Wireless IEM "hack" setup to save extra money and portability on stage - three components that you need: Behringer Powerplay P2, some kind of wireless guitar system (aka Harley Benton AirBorne 5.8GHz Instrument or some similar cheap wireless transmitter options) and earbuds. Now you have your personal wireless IEM :) So, this is a trick to save some money and I can confirm that the wireless receiver and the P2 behave very well together. You can also connect a guitar to it and play with headphones, with these wirelessly hacked or with cable just for practice without disturbing anybody. Of course, if you want the guitar to be wireless as well, you'll need another set of wireless. One tip for mixers: if you use XLR to send a balanced mono signal from the mixer's aux, then set the switch to mono and the sound goes to both ears. If you are using XLR to send a stereo signal from the output to the headphones, then put the switch in the stereo position and it works as a stereo. cons: the batteries sometimes come loose when you drop it or shake it heavily, I actually tape the batteries to the socket to fix it, no big problem pros: batteries last a LONG time.. it says 10 hours.. mine lasts at least 20!... it's cheap (half the price of the Fisher Amp Stick (which it copies). It sounds GOOD man. Really good. I also use it for monitoring in the studio.
Simplest solution for in-ear monitors
If simple reliability is your goal for a headphone amp, then this is a good device to buy. Pros: - Sturdy and simple, can withstand the chaos of live performances - Powered by AAA batteries so you don't need a separate power source - Possibility for stereo audio - Obvious how to open the device Cons: - Stereo audio requires purchasing a separate XLR splitter cable, and (as far as I understand) the signal will be unbalanced - Not obvious how to close the device (the rotation of the chassis has to be aligned right, and in a live setting with poor lighting this may not be the easiest)
Gets you on stage!
I bought this as an entry into personal monitoring systems, with the aim to upgrade at some point. I might upgrade, but I've been using it for 18 months so far, and haven't felt the need to yet. Excellent value for money, just bear in mind: If it's dropped, the battery can come loose inside and stop working. The battery will last for ages so long as you remember to switch it off after each gig. Can be made 'wireless' for more mobility with a wireless XLR pair. Very happy with this purchase.
Great gear on a budget!
Get little device. Great starting point for someone who is starting out with in-ears. Easy setup, a little chunky if you're a drummer or someone who sits down while playing. Other than that I can't really fault them. Just get some good headphones and you are good to go!
It does the job, but it's not top shelf.
The build quality is good, solid and the housing made of metal is a good feeling. The overall product is in my opinion a bit on the rudimentary side. I know it doesn't have to be fancy as it is functional but it is very rough and ready, clicky, like a toy almost. Changing the 2 AAA batteries is a bit nerve-racking as you have to actually slide open the body pack, revealing the electronics inside. Yikes! It has made me nervous a bit. There's a mono/stereo switch inside the casing also next to the logic board, and it is a bit basic here too.
Sound is solid. Overall there's nothing fancy in this product and the price tag is very attractive for what it is. It does the job, well, but if you need a bit more refinement and probably extra features, like a second output, or a better belt clip, or a "less scary" access to the battery compartment, look somewhere else. If you however are looking for a cheap and cheerful, ready to go simple body pack for your In-ears, this will do a grand job !
Excellent Quality, Great addition
I bought this because I was struggling to hear my earpiece at max volume on my pa. The extra boot in level this offers is a huge help. Simple to use, great battery life (better than described for me) and solid build quality
Simple amp
Gets the job done. The price is a bit high for a basic device, especially considering the design and build quality. Replacing the batteries is easy yet clunky, and the belt clip gets deformed over time.
Behringer P2
It does what it says on the tin. I have used the P2 live and I didn't even notice it after a while of playing. Batteries last a while. It's quality is pretty good, features are basic but works great.
Great for IEM live if you sit
For drummers, this is a great starting point if you don't have the money to buy wireless IEM's. Sound is good and build quality is sturdy. But I don't recommend it if you move a lot and are standing on stage. You will definitely trip over the wire, unplug yourself or the device won't stay in place and fall. The clip is decent but not good enough for movement.
Useful pre-amps
I use four of these for live monitors switched to mono - so far they seem to be good value for money. I bought lithium rechargeable battery's which work well with them. The sound is clear.
Good place to start for in ear monitors
I got 4 of these so my band could rehearse with IEMs and reduce feedback from our mics.
It works well and sits comfortably on my waistband, a little bit of noise starts appearing and only gets louder from about 30% volume but doesn't bother me since i never have to go that loud anyway.
Would be nice to have a pack of batteries included.
Hissy when cranked
We have a few of these used primarily during rehearsals for in-ear monitoring. Simple operation with just single volume knob that doubles as on/off switch. Operates both stereo and mono and can be connected to XLR aux or headphone out but use cables with the correct plugs of course. It amplifies the headphone signal well but you would want to use lower impedance headphones as it does not go very loud or I’m getting more deaf… you will get some white noise/hiss when increasing volume. solid metal case and interiors slide in/out easily for accessing stereo/mono switch and battery replacement AAA. The clip is not so solid and little wonky. Design could be improved. The Rockboard HA1 looks very similar and seems to have improved on the design addressing what I just mentioned. If you are not mobile this would work well but if you move around you may get trapped in the cable connecting the device to the mixing desk. So be careful! Price hiked to almost double which I think makes it overpriced.
