Behringer S16 5-stars Reviews
Behringer S16
Does the job. Good sound, adat and network connections. What more do you need!
Easy
Easy setup, and connection, to X32
Simple, but effective
Its a very simple and easy piece of kit, not large scale touring spec but perfect for a small venue or small touring band
My go to tool
Has been an absolute workhorse for me. Never had a single issue and can't imagine going back to analogue snakes now!
Plug and Play!
Opened the box, plugged in necessary cables and everything worked perfectly!
S16 excellent interface
Does the job without any glitches
Fantastic value!
My S16 has done 100s of gigs, not a single issue and it continues to deliver great functionality at a cost that's hard to believe. A single piece of armoured Cat5, 16 ins and 8 outs; ultra-reliable at every gig.
Great and easy system
Great setup for most live events!
Wonderfull kit!
I use this as an extension of my X32 rack. It's brilliant. One remark: don't let you be misguided by anyone. You-have-to-use-the-correct-ethernet-cable! You cannot use a standard cable although it might fit. You can also NOT use a standard ethernet cable with ethercons although it might fit. You have to have Ethercon to Ethercon ground lead connected! Example:
Procab PRD520/10 CAT5e SF/UTP Ethercon
Great X32 expansion
Makes the X32 Compact a really big mixer :)
Wonderful. Plug and play with the X32 Compact.
How did I ever work without these two wonderful pieces of kit.
Best Buy of all time
I use an S16 for live application and have also installed a few in different venues in Central London.
Super quick and simple to set up.
Can control 48V Phantom Power as well Mic Pre-Amp Gain from the front control panel making it incredibly convenient and powerful to use in every application.
I HIGHLY recommend to everyone.
Perfect addition for my X32 Producer
This brings the I/O count of my X32 Producer up to the same as the full size X32 and gives me the flexibility to use a quick CAT5 connection instead of a heavy analogue multicore on smaller jobs. S16s are prolific amongst smaller hire companies, so it's easy to source another if you need something for a bigger job.
Great unit for expanding your console.
Simple to used, give great flexibility to your X32 setup.
Would highly recommend!
Good product
I bought this digital snake as an extra for my X32 console and I've been using it for some time now. Overall it is a great product, haven't had any worries with it so far, except one time when there was a problem with the voltage on stage and the current was uneven. It was an old building with aged electric system and wiring and the X32 lost the connection with the S16 couple of times. When I realised the problem, I connected it to another power socket and it worked fine after. It's hard to bring out any cons, the only thing is the build quality, don't get me wrong i'm pleased with it, it's not like it could fall apart or break, its about the little details, the knobs feel rubbery and plasticy, it just doesn't have that "quality feel" to it. Overall I'm really satisfied with it, actually I'm thinking of buying another one for my setup as a spare.
What can you say? Simply brilliant
The sound is as good as it gets, and the protocol is so easy to use that it's crazy. You turn it on, plug it into one of the AES50 ports on the X32, and it simply works. Every time. No instability or strangeness - just works.
I ordered two S16s, but one of them had a faulty power supply, so I had to send it back. That was a bit sad, as I had to dig out the analog multicore the following concert to cover the last inputs. One of our helpers even managed to dig through the multicore with a shovel, so it lost a few channels. Had it been a CAT-5 cable, we could have just replaced that one cable cheaply.
What that also tells, is that of course Behringer cuts some corners even on these a little bit more high-quality products. I have an older Behringer mixer, which also had a power supply that failed and had to be sent back. Plus some older Behringer speakers which also had a power supply that failed.
But when that problem was fixed, I can't complain about anything. These units are brilliant. I just wish they weren't quite that expensive, maybe one to two hundred euros cheaper. But I see that the Midas preamps is what ramps up the price in both the X32 and the S16s, so it's all good, I guess!
Anyway, they are part of a brilliant, cheap system, that gives me a looot of functionality. It's all been said before. Behringer - thank you!
Behringer S16
this unit although static at our venue would solve having to drag a very heavy mulicore cable to all gigs this simply replaces that with a cat5 cable and it's incredibly easy to set up and use
Worth the money
If you have an X32 and you need a large number of inputs, you have to get this thing. With one Ethernet cable to the X32 you can put it anywhere and it works flawlessly. It seems expensive but when you realize the benefits of how light and simple it is, you will quickly forget the cost. Whether you use it in the Proberaum or the Stage, or both... highly recommended.
S16
Great
Love It
Solid construction, quality unit. A very economical way to up your channel count to 32 inputs with no loss in signal quality. Worked first time when connected to my X32 Rack and I really like the fact that you can lock the front panel controls from the X32. Now I can pick up 16 channels from each side of the stage, very handy indeed.
