Behringer UMC1820 Reviews
You won't find anything as good for this price
Simply put, this is fantastic. I had a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8, and needed more preamps and the ability to expand with an ADAT preamp, and this was perfect.
I have a Behringer ADA8200 and the Focusrite didn't play well with it at all (due to only having ADAT In, and no Master Clock, it was simply impossible to sync the two. A huge oversight on Focusrite's part)
This has ADAT out too though so I could have this as the master to set the clock for the ADA8200. They work perfectly together, and they sound great. The Midas preamps are very nice and clean sounding. I didn't notice any improvement in sound on the Focusrite despite it being almost twice the price. They're nice and clean sounding with lots of gain to give.
Overall, this is practically a steal. The drivers work well, never had an issue with them. Don't let the Behringer name put you off, this is fantastic.
Great budget recording usb unit
Fantastic price great bit of kit!
Amazing interface for this price... Solid built, good preamps!
Can't be beaten for the money
Brilliant "budget" interface, I use it to track acoustic drums for demos. 8 tracks is more than enough, and the myriad options for phantom power, multiple headphone mixes and the rest make it a versatile little tool.
Plenty of features, sounds come through clean and clear - can't ask for more for the price.
Quality interface
Feature rich, sounds great, drivers work flawlessly. It's impossible to fault this interface at any price but when it's priced so low like this it becomes a no brainer. ADAT expansion evailable as well!
Couldn't be happier.
Love this!
Does what it should, don't understand half of what it does, but for what I need, done!
Amazing Budget Audio Interface
I bought it to record a church band asap and tbh I was really impressed by its sound quality as well as its ease of use. Great job!
good interface
happy with it running a few synths into it noworries
Perfect for my needs! Love the monitoring encoder.
It runs a bit hot though ...
If it doesn't break - it's perfect
Well, it's Behringer, so my expectations weren't high when I got it, but - feature-wise this thing is just fantastic. For the price, you can't get anything even remotely close to this. You can record 8 mics at once, put the output both on monitors and headphones at once, and - perhaps most importantly - you can even buy a separate input unit and record another 8 mics on it, all at the price not even approaching the cheapest 8-input interface from any other, more reputable brand.
100% recommended, if you know what you need it for, and what it's not good for. Band practice, demoing.
Build quality is actually perfectly fine, except for a very flimsy power supply unit.
Great patch bay.
Love the three modes. VERY versatile.
One of the best choices
Behringer UMC1820 makes one of the best choices for audio interfaces out there. It has all those inputs and outputs to use to your advantage if you're a drummer (for multiple microphones) and you can take it with you to gigs without bringing any extra interfaces due to its size. It also has a button to switch off half of the inputs, and with that you use less power thus increased time for it to warm up. It is also budget friendly for the sound quality and size. If it had numbers for the gain knobs, though, it would've made it much better. Overall, in my opinion, the best buy you can make for the money.
Better than expected
Had NI Komplete audio 6 and needed an upgrade.
I'm very happy.
Well constructed, reliable and great price
I'm using this interface mainly for my band in ear monitoring and works perfect. I'm always using all the imputs and sending 4 mono mixes (for the monitoring systems) and 10 mono balanced signals to front of house. As we're triggering things from Ableton Live we're setting all the routing from there, with the direct monitoring we're not getting any important latency and it's just super reliable. We've used it in 10 small/medium size gigs and never had and issue so far. We've also recorded the live gigs and was able to handle everything with no problem. At home I've used it to record some drums and guitars, all good. I'm pretty happy with it as it works better than expected and I got a very versatile device that I can use in live and studio situations. I can't recommend it enough.
Bang for the buck
Very good. Working out of the box without any issues. The mic pres sounds good, full sounding.
Great soundcard!
it's a real good one ! and it's worth the price!
A very good audio interface.
The unit works very well in my set up. I don’t use AD DA facility as I use the unit as an interface between my DAW (Studio One) and the digital outputs of hard drive recorders, mainly using the ADAT facility. It performs the role perfectly.
I do find the monitoring options on the front panel very confusing but rarely need to access this facility.
Overall a very useful interface which does an excellent job.
UMC1820
i've had a few interfaces, and this is one of my favourites so far.
well made, plenty of options (although some XLR outs would be nice) and easy to set up (i'm on Mac; sorry Windows users, i can't say how it'll be for you).
decent kit for not that much money!
Top value for your money
I cannot believe how good this thing is for that price. You get a bunch of inputs and outputs, midi connections and what is most important for me - ultra low latency.
Great interface!
I bought this to record drums at home and it fits this purpose perfectly. It has enough inputs to record my full kit and the preamps sound clean, resulting in studio quality recordings.
Pros:
- Easy to use. Connected to my Macbook and DAW without installing any additional drivers.
- Preamps sound great.
- Compact and would be easy to take to a gig or rehearsal.
Cons:
- None!
