Behringer UMC1820 4-stars Reviews
Useful pedal for live MIDI control if your hands are too busy.
Used this pedal to control various functions like patch/song changes, backing tracks, loopers, channel mutes, and software guitar effect plugins within Apple Mainstage for a gutarist/singer live setup. Lots of pedals and banks. Painful to program manually (like a manic game of Simon Says), but there are a couple of 3rd party software programs that make the mapping more visible and easier to perform. I started simple and then added more controls. I didn't use anywhere near the 100 or so channels available. Physically the unit is quite well built and heavy so it stays where its put on stage. I'm only an occasional performer and I've only had it for a few months so can't vouch for its robustness under heavy use/gigging etc. One feature that slightly annoyed me was the LED on each pedal illuminates when the pedal is pressed but doesn't extinguish if you press again, only when you press another pedal, so if you use it for something on-off it doesn't reflect this.
Great Gear for the price
As with a lot of Behringer equipment, the quality you’re getting is nicer than the price accompanied with it. Behringers reputation for low budget gear is not because it can’t compete with other brands….but because it can! I loved having this interface when I was starting out, sure it had its problems and I couldn’t quite get as much gain from it as I liked but it served me well when I was starting out. Also is great to be doubled with an Apollo twin via ADAT connection
8 inputs, 260e
im using this instead of mixer with my synths, i can synch everything via usb and midi out and save alot of money since i can use effeects in my daw, and i can record all my hardware jams all to their own channels and apply automation /make changes effects afterwards. If you want best signal for guitar you might want to check universal audio stuff but for synth jamming this thing is steal
Great interface on a budget
If you are looking for a great interface to connect your hardware to, look no further. For it's price the UMC1820 is a good choice. 8 inputs for that price, you will find it nowhere else.
Does what it says
Well made, easy to use and setup, sounds good enough with synths and probably any other direct input for an amateur. No opinion on a mic because I haven't used it with one and don't really plan on it.
Its good....
Had a couple of problems since we got it, but its good value and works well.
We needed the extra inputs on this. The driver works well. DAW recognizes the ASIO, MIDI connection, etc.
The pots got a little crackly pretty fast. Also, one headphone channel got a plug stuck in it. Got the plug out, but it doesn't work any more.
Still not sorry! Its a good purchase.
Super Interface,
Super Interface, compact , midi in and out , Phantom power, two Headphone monitoring ,and alot more features. all you will need to record everything at home or at a Live gig . very happy with it .
Bang for the buck.
Love the unit!
My only issue with the unit is that it gets ferly warm or even hot while it's working. But other than that It does what it's supposed to do.
Excellent sound quality for the price
I use my UMC1820 for recording music and speech and for playing back surround sound. I use it as a USB class-compliant device on Linux - it was easy to set up and runs under JACK very reliably with no dropouts.
I can't fault it in terms of audio quality - the inputs and outputs are very quiet. The dual headphone outputs and monitoring controls work well for recording with one or two musicians, and it seems to drive "difficult" headphones (e.g. HD650s) happily.
The unit as a whole seems solidly built. Inputs are on balanced XLR/jack combos, which are plastic but are bolted to the panel so they seem reasonably robust; outputs are on balanced jacks.
There are some minor downsides, as you'd expect for the price. The gain controls are a bit fiddly so it's difficult to set levels exactly and it's easy to knock one control while adjusting another. There's isn't quite enough gain to use an SM58-style dynamic mic (although it's quiet enough that you can boost it in software afterwards).
The monitor mix is just a straight sum of the analogue inputs - there's no built-in DSP mixer. The power supply's an external brick, which isn't very neat in a rack. And the channel numbers are right at the bottom of the panel, so they're impossible to see unless the unit's at eye height - I've added some labels to the top of mine!
But overall for the price this is excellent value, and I've been very happy with mine.
Great item, but driver is very bad, hopefully in future they will improve it
Great product at a great price
I have used this interface for a while and it has served me well.
The downsides for me are:
Poor quality power supply cable which failed after a while.
Very basic software interface, with no active monitoring on the meters, and no ability to use virtual inputs and outputs in the software interface.
If the software interface can be upgraded to inlude these features, it would be excellent!
Using for audio interface for drum mics.
Beginner level.
At first I thought to buy UMC404, but I just decided to buy 8 input, because now I see that in the future I can add some extra microphone for experimentation
Even if you can find certain information online, I miss the user manual here.
There would be nothing wrong with being a little shorter, and maybe a little taller.
You get more than what you pay for.
This interface is unrivalled in its price point, so it's a must for a growing enthusiast studio. The ins, outs and features are unrivalled for this money, so don't expect stellar quality (sound is by no means bad).
To be honest, my only real gripe with this product is the cheap/ noisy power supply. It means that you need to more careful with isolation/ wiring than you would with a better shielded supply.
Otherwise, this product is a great to have.
Its great for its price
it feels good and i have not had any problems with it
A decent start if you've got some external gear
I've purchased this audio interface mainly for convenience, as I have upgraded from single-channel AI. It is very convenient to have all of the available external gear connected right away (I use two synths, a guitar, and a bass).
Three stars for handling, because I have experienced difficulties with driver installation on windows 10 (maybe even my fault). The soundcard was working great before it started to produce clicking noises (outside DAW as well). The full removal of drivers and re-installation has solved the problem though. Keep in mind that it is mandatory to install UMC Asio driver if you want all of your inputs to be recognized and if you want to be able to play sound on your PC or MAC along with the DAW.
Five stars for features, because definitely at this price point it is the most feature-packed AI. Lots of channels, good sounding preamps, mix between sound from inputs and sound from the DAW (good if you practice instruments and need no latency). Also, I love that headphone outputs are loud and there are two of them.
Sound-wise, can't say that this particular device somehow is better than the competitors at this price point. I think that it should be kind of neutral and this is the point that you do not want it to be colored or something.
Great quality for the price, everything feels sturdy, with no air in the gain knobs.
Great experience and sound.
I just wish it had a standard Berhinger rackmount front-plate. Gawd this thing is fugly!
That said, just like I titled my review, "Great experience and sound.". Stable on my old Skylake Wintel PC. Latency is awsomely low, and DAW connectivity is as one expect.
Bang for the Buck
Outstanding price point for an 18i20 interface.
Looks good in black and feels surprisingly expensive.
The gain knobs need to be turned quite a bit in order to get a good signal, but that's understandable for the price.
Quite a bit of noise, but the sound is great otherwise!
Value for Money!
Not the best on the market, but super easy to hook up and use - and sounds good for its price!
Great budget recording usb unit
Fantastic price great bit of kit!
Great soundcard!
it's a real good one ! and it's worth the price!
