Behringer UMC404HD Reviews
Great interface
Did not find any issues, only use it for the outputs with rekordbox and so far everything works great, sound amplification is a bit weak but if paired with active speakers don't see an issue. Can use it as a 6 channel out with rekordbox, because it outputs rca and jack both to the speakers and sub, using out 2 for headphones (possible to rca second pair of headphones) and main jack output for monitors. Intercafe controls on the computer and driver is a bit outdated and lacking compared to Scarlett, but overall very happy with this product
Good for the price
It is a well made interface at a VERY reasonable price.
Pros:
- Inserts for all Inputs
- The preamps are quite good.
- I like the external PS.
- Works excellently with linux, (even on a raspberry pi)
- Well built
- Very cheap price for the built quality
Cons:
- Very low output on the monitors, it definitely does not deliver balanced audio signal.
- The software driver interface is pretty basic but what would u expect for the price. fair enough.
-The headphone amp distorts heavily if u crank the volume pot above 12 o'clock but at only 11 it can adequately power my power hungry AKG K712's and my Sehn's HD600 with no audible distortion, so no big deal.
Right now it serves my son's pc as a guitar-vocal practicing/recording/monitoring interface, and it does it's job quite well. No complaints for non pro projects.
Best out of all competitors
This is my second time purchasing this. Bought it when it came out and used it for 2 years, then gave it to a friend as a gift. Missed it so much bought it again. This has 4 midas preamps for a hundred dollars what else do you need? This easily beats all its other competitors especially focusrite which i personally dont understand why its popular when Behringer exists. Great value for money, sturdy, durable, long lasting, all the basic controls you need are there for a home recording set up. HD recordings and all the great features u could ask for. 10/10 recommended.
I would however like to see USB 3.0 but maybe im getting ahead of myself.
Excellent for my home studio
I have this sound card for 2 years now and it has delivered consistent great results.
Works just like you expect it to work.
Plug and play, no headache :D
Overall great sound!
I recently purchased this for a studio that I am building and I have to say that it did not disappoint. Regularly behringer doesn't have a good reputation but this product over exceeded my expecations!
It is unbelievable that you can get great sound for this amount of money, totally worth it
Does the job with no hassles, what more can one ask?
Great interface, easy to use, worked with Reaper on the first go. Bit smallish buttons but you would most likely be tweaking fine levels on your mixer anyhow. Incredible for this price, def recommended.
Amazing for the price, questionable quality
The Good: For the price it's incredible. The pres have plenty of gain and aren't noisy. Loads of options for direct monitoring, interfacing with other equipment, and routing to multiple outputs.
The Not So Good: The first unit I got had a distorted headphone output, the second unit worked for a while but now the headphone output has become noisy. The volume potentiometer is sealed, so there's no easy way to clean it. I guess a lack of serviceability is the downside of cheap gear.
Straight forward and user friendly.
No complexities.
No major learning curves.
Just plug in and record.
Very good.
This is a very good, full of features, solid product. Easy to install and use. Very intuitive. Perfect for small home studio.
U-phoria UMC404HD - excellent interface
First of all, of course, you need to download and install the driver from the behringer's website. It should then be configured: frequencies, buffer size, etc.
It should be noted that the device has a MIDI interface, which is very good. It also has different levels of inputs and the overall signal movement is actually very logical and reasonable, especially when used for singing with headphones, for example.
The fact that it requires a separate power supply is actually good, not bad. Because of this, it can be successfully used as a small mixer at home without starting the computer.
So far, I have nothing bad to say about quality. For that money, it's a very functional and useful thing. Comfortable XLR main out as well. I recommend this device to anyone who wants to record in high quality without much effort.
Great interface for the price, using with both Mac and Windows and both is very stable. Both the inputs and outputs are good enough to start off making music.
Excellent sound card
I've been using focusrite interface for more than 10 years as a home studio user (I'm not a pro engineer). For work reasons (not related to audio), I had to move, and I took an Scarlett 2x4 for fun, However, at some point I needed more inputs and outputs, but I didn't want to expend too much.
This behringer has been great!!.
I'm not able to notice the difference with my current microphones on vocals, and for sure, I don't notice anything with guitar, keyboards, or effects signals. For the price, the number of outputs and inputs you get is amazing.
This is more than a budget interface for the home studio, it provides great quality and options for anyone starting, or with a few years of experience.
Totally recommended.
super interface
HaHa
Itâs great for the price
Great for the price works well with laptop pc..
Very good interface
Bought this to replace my Presonus Audiobox USB and it exceeded all my expectations. 4 inputs and routing options are even more than I need for my home studio needs. I love that it has channel inserts so I can finally connect and use my outboard gear with it. Preamps are nice and silent, no loose knobs or anything like that.
Had it for more than a year, never had a single problem with it. Very good product. Even if it breaks down eventually I would buy it again, no doubt.
Excellent interface for the price.
I got this device about 2 years ago to replace an integrated sound card on my PC, so I'm reviewing the product from this angle.
+I immeaditely noticed a much crisper and punchier audio from the headphone output, so highly recommended if you are looking for an USB audio card. Headphone output is quiet until roughly 75% of the volume dial, but after that there's some white noise, works well with lower impedance headphones (M50x and Shure SRH1540), it gets plenty loud.
Later on I added a headphone amp (Schiit Magni 3 Heresy) and it works really well as a DAC as well!
Also using to record a Audio-Technica AT2020 and a guitar, no issues such as hiss or latency with either one. Supports ASIO drivers without any issues.
+ Everything, really. It's a great product despite Behringer's old track record.
- Missing power button, but it has been "on" for the most part for a couple of years now without issues
- Sometimes drivers. Usually needs a couple of pc reboots to work after installing the driver after which there are no issues.
Great product for the price. If you don't need multiple recording devices, I'd recommend the 202HD.
Unbeatable for the price
I have this and a certain red metal interface for recording. Does the job just as good but looks less fancy of course.
lovely product
great product - only issue was trying to send multiple outputs and working out how the balance them correctly; but once you understand how all the features work its great.
All in all it's a good product.
Unit does the job.
Sturdy metal casing, no loose potentiometers or knobs.
Headphones output volume potentiometer sometimes produces some very silent crackles when using it after some time untouched but after few tweaks volume up and down it just disappears and works well.
The headphone output produces lil' noise after pushed around 2 o'clock and the noise increases as you raise the volume. But it's only audible just listening to a sound card headphones output without playing any music. It's inaudible while listening yo music and I listen it around 11-12 o'clock position. You don't wan't to listen that loud anyway :) so no big problem here.
All jack input slots are sturdy. Have not tried RCA outputs but I guess they work as usual.
Connected some outboard gear to process my sounds. Latency is really low only few ms using Reaper via reaInsert or just sending sound via send to hardware and back to soundcard.
Good unit, cheap, use it everyday and no big problems to date.
