Behringer UMC404HD 5-stars Reviews
Excellent for Home Studio
Having used many different USB-Audi interfaces in the past I decided to buy the UMC404HD for my home studio. I have to admit that I was very positively surprised. The sound is excellent (connected to a pair of Behringer 50USB Active Studio Monitors). The card is very easy to use and the phantom power helps when recording with condensed microphones. Overall, truly pleased with the purchase.
Simple and reliable
Excellent product. Easy to set up and use. Sits nicely on my studio desk.
Great value
Best bang for buck for a 4 channel, 192khz audio device. Surprisingly low noise and high quality preamps/ADC for the price.
My only criticisms is you can't have both audio out pairs monitored through the headphones and seems to have occasional issues with sleep mode on the computer.
Small studio workhorse
I upgraded to this from a focusrite solo for two reasons. I wanted more inputs, and I wanted it powered by mains instead of using the same USB cable to power it that was transmitting the data.
Unlike Behringer pedals, the construction is metal, and feels quite solid. The knobs and buttons are sturdy and feel great to work with.
I would have preferred the phantom 48V button were on the front instead of the back, but this is just a very minor detail. Everything else is perfect for my needs.
Excelent
I've been using this almost daily for a year and is excellent. All the controls make sense, plenty of outputs to use and the preamps are very nice. Can't fault it at all.
I tried this interface for my home studio and honestly I was surprised by the quality for its price, I recommend it for all those who are starting and do not have much budget
My new go-to USB Audio interface
I have bought two of these USB interface, they work great with my Linux desktop systems. I am also using it with my Laptop using Mixxx software for DJ'ing, here i can use the same audio interface for both main out, and monitor out.
When people ask me what USB audio device to get, i always suggest this model, since it has balanced outputs, and it has four XLR/TRS combo inputs that are great for microphones, and likely also for instruments.
My only issue with this devices is there is no input/turn-on/off pop detection, so when connecting audio inputs, either USB from PC or XLR/TRS inputs or when changing USB sampling rate, it will make a pop noise when the change is happening.
But for the price a great product.
A great interface for the money
If you need those four inputs on a budget, this interface is for you.
The build is solid, this was bought for independent, pre-recorded radio. I was throwing it into a backpack with my laptop and a few leads and had no concerns, it's still in perfect nick.
The preamps are a little noisy, so not Focusrite grade but still high quality. When I say a little noisy I mean a little, once your signal kicks in the slightly above average noise floor makes no difference.
I was recording tracks directly into two preamps in stereo and the result was indistinguishable from the original recording to my ears. The mic also sounded great after post processing.
Overall, I highly reccommend this budget interface, well built (even more so than my scarlett 2i2!) so it won't let you down.
Truely wonderful
This product is the best money can buy. It is very ease to use, you simply just plug it in your computer, open the software and you're ready to record.
More ins and outs than the okey cokey
As a solo artist and video producer I’m always coming up with new ideas or being creative, there is always somewhere to plug anything in, keys, cameras, mics or bad guitar. Perfect level every time, it’s such a go to box, I’m going to go and get another to take on the road
Everything that I expect
I've using about one year this product. Despite other competitors like Scarlet 2i2 and Steinberg UR22 ; UMC 404 has more features. Like 4 in and 4 out , midi inputs /outputs , both XLR and RCA monitor outputs etc. Working without problems in linux systems . I'm a bass player , with UMC404 HD 's 4 inserts for each channel , I can use analog effect pedals simultaneously. Onboard MIDAS preamps give very clear sound. And latency values are very good for me . If you power with only USB cable , I advice connect via powered USB hub. I'm very happy with my UMC404 HD , thanks to Behringer.
Inexpensive, great audio interface!
If you're at a beginner or intermediary level, this a great audio interface to get.
The body of it is fantastic: very sturdy and ergonomically satisfying. I'm ashamed to say it's had a knock or two before and it's definitely withstood that test.
I previously used the 2-input UMC204HD, and because I needed more inputs I upgraded to this 4-input UMC404HD.
Given the price and awesome features it has, it's definitely a purchase I'm happy about!
Great
Solid, full of features and easy to use. Works flawlessly in Linux without any drivers or messing around. Highly recommended.
2 Years on and still going strong
I have been using the UMC404HD with my MacBook Air for 2 years now. There are no drivers to install with the Mac so it just works. I have tried Behringer interfaces before and have been disappointed with the noise they introduced, but no such issues with the UMC404HD.
Good piece of kit
I was looking for an interface that had at least 2 inputs for instruments and phantom power for a microphone, but did not break the bank. I previously used a POD HD500 + an old Tascam for the mic, but this setup had a lot of downsides.
I expected less, but sound wise it's pretty nice, actually. To my ears, there's maybe a bit less highs when compared to the POD, mid-range is a bit more, and lows I think are identical. Compared to the POD, it has a bit more latency when using identical PC settings, but only "on paper" - it's not noticeable in reality. One star down for these two items, but they are NOT a deal breaker.
It's simple to operate, but could do with better labels on the front panel on the headphones/monitoring part. If I remember correctly, the user manual did not help much, either. One star down here, since removing half a star is not an option.
Feels properly sturdy and solid. Pots are nice.
Overall it's a properly good piece of kit. I would recommend for the bedroom musician with both hands.
Very good sound card
Very good sound card with a lot of features and nice preamps
Great interface
Did not find any issues, only use it for the outputs with rekordbox and so far everything works great, sound amplification is a bit weak but if paired with active speakers don't see an issue. Can use it as a 6 channel out with rekordbox, because it outputs rca and jack both to the speakers and sub, using out 2 for headphones (possible to rca second pair of headphones) and main jack output for monitors. Intercafe controls on the computer and driver is a bit outdated and lacking compared to Scarlett, but overall very happy with this product
Best out of all competitors
This is my second time purchasing this. Bought it when it came out and used it for 2 years, then gave it to a friend as a gift. Missed it so much bought it again. This has 4 midas preamps for a hundred dollars what else do you need? This easily beats all its other competitors especially focusrite which i personally dont understand why its popular when Behringer exists. Great value for money, sturdy, durable, long lasting, all the basic controls you need are there for a home recording set up. HD recordings and all the great features u could ask for. 10/10 recommended.
I would however like to see USB 3.0 but maybe im getting ahead of myself.
Excellent for my home studio
I have this sound card for 2 years now and it has delivered consistent great results.
Works just like you expect it to work.
Plug and play, no headache :D
Overall great sound!
I recently purchased this for a studio that I am building and I have to say that it did not disappoint. Regularly behringer doesn't have a good reputation but this product over exceeded my expecations!
