Boss FS-5U Reviews
Poor craftsmanship
Given BOSS's legendary reputation, I am sure that it is a wonderful product that would have served me many years — perhaps, even decades — but it was ruined by poor craftsmanship. Even though it seemed robust, just like all the other BOSS pedals I have owned over the years, and even though the action of the switch felt great, I decided to return it due to a multitude of cosmetic defects present all over the product. However, since I liked the functionality of the item, I chose to try my luck again. Unfortunately, the second pedal had some defects too. Not wanting to give up, the third time I ordered two, hoping that at least one of them would be free from similar defects. Sadly, both were not. In total, four pedals in a row had very poor craftsmanship. The defects included minor scratches all over the surfaces, stains and molding marks on the rubber bottom, chipped corners on the aluminum parts, the switch screwed to the top at an angle, some kind of glue residue at one of the screws, crooked serial number stickers, and so on. I could have tolerated one or maybe even two such defects on a pedal, but not three or more, especially considering the exorbitant price of this very basic pedal with such simple circuitry inside it. The only explanation for such disappointing craftsmanship I was able to come up with was that these might be made in a different factory where quality control is not as strict as in the factory that makes the other pedals. BOSS have ruined their reputation in my eyes...
So Great!
I love it! I´m happy with this Boss product!
Solid product
It's a switch and it works.
And it has a removable cable.
Perfect for MIDI keyboard addon
I use it to switch plugins in Mainstage software. The pedal is very firm and high quality. It would be even better if it was a little bigger in size
Sturdy and relieble
Works really well as a sustain pedal and footswitch
Sturdy switch
Works just as expected, no issues
Boss FS-5U
Solid construction, good feel under the foot.
Good quality, will survive a long time.
I use it as sustain pedal for my M-Audio Code keyboard. It works flawlessly, and does not need a battery :) Build like a tank and surely will last a while :)
Very good price to quality
This small and simple pedal very much enhances the ability to switch between channels on different effects. I personally use it for my Boss RC-30 Loop pedal, for which it is perfect to switch the channels and navigate between the different recorded loops. Definitely recommend if you are looking for an easier way to navigate on multi loop pedals.
Sturdy and reliable
I use it with a boss RC-1 loop pedal. It's sturdy, heavy for a pedal this small and it works perfectly well.
It's convenient and saves me a lot of time, For example I don't have to set the tempo manually, I do it directly by stomping on the FS-5U.
It?s a Boss
Good Quality swicthes for anything you need. Recommend for every budget.
Fantastic!
I use 2 of these with the beatbuddy drum machine and love them!
Good Solid Foot switch
I use the switch with my Roland BK-7M for "Permform Next" switching. The switch is sold under foot and the reverse polarity switch is a definite advantage as it allows the switch to be operated in either a Normally-Open or Normally Closed state thus enabling it to be used for a variety of applications. Other FS-5Us can be added easily to create a single pedal board of multiple foot switches.
Best switch of this type
Really good unit. This will last a lifetime very well made and much better than the cheap copies.
Good pedal
Currently using it as a switch with my midi controller and works great,
the switchable polarity ensures that it will work with any keyboard and build quality is really good.
good
good quality for the money. Recommended. you may get a few of them together. they look awesome.
Solid Pedal
Not much to say other than it works and has a nice feel to it. Very sturdy
Does it's job
Great little box. I'm using it as a metronome switch on my SPD-SX. It's strong and compact. Moves around a little but I'll probably stick some velcro hooks under it.
Good choice
I use this pedal with the drum machine Alesis SR 18. The pedal is good. It does not slide, the material is very strong and the pedal seems to be able to survive any "heavy" boot : ) . So I have no complaints or bad remarks about it.
Does the job!
I'm using it with my keyboard rig on stage. Compact size is great and solid metal build quality makes me feel easy to stomp it around. The only complain I have is that there was no cable included whatsoever.
