Boss GE-7 Equalizer Reviews
Must have!
Cut through the mix in live environment. Easy to use and must have!
Great Pedal Universally Used
Many boards have this pedal and there is a reason for that, it’s compact, sounds great and can be used as a boost to push valve amps to their sweet spot as well as shaping the tone. I am a guitar player and I had one of these 20 years ago when I was gigging in lots of different rooms so this pedal is great for adjusting your tone depending on the acoustics of the gig. Also great for solo boosts and pushing the frequencies to get you heard without deafening your band members! A must have in my view and it’s great value!
The only real negative is that it can be a little noisy in some rooms
A really powerful tool
I started using it when I realised that the beautiful tones I got from my guitars, amps and pedals at home had a tendency to get drowned when playing with my band.
I chose this equalizer after reading opinions on forums. I was looking for a affordable, simple yet effective equalizer, with a good build quality.
The GE-7 proved really effective at the task. Basically I use it only to make my tone sit nicely in the mix on rehearsals or gigs. I don't use it at home, because what I'm trying to do is to sound as good as home in a band context. I don't use it to create special sounds or to make my amp sound like another one, though it can certainly do that.
I would strongly recommend this unit to any guitarist playing in a band, especially if there are other midrange focused instruments. What works for me is : cut off 100HZ, slightly cut 200HZ, slightly boost 400HZ, slightly cut 800HZ, slightly boost 1KHZ, 3.2KHZ at unity or slightly below, 6,4HZ is basically the presence, so I adjust it depending on the amp and the context.
Building quality is what you expect from Boss.
Worth mentionning I didn't notice any coloration from the buffered bypass when the pedal is off.
Good Pedal
its amazing build but the huss that give is not good but it manageable
Essential
How did I go so long without an EQ pedal? This is never coming off my pedal board. This works great either in front of the amp or in the effects loop. The Boss EQ pedal is simply the best choice, versatile, affordable and high quality.
Versatile Unit
Used to have this in my rig back in the 80s after a Boss Compressor and now in 2019 it's back again after a break of 15 years not playing guitar.
Versatile Unit to create tone or boost for a solo.
Good Tank
Like always, built like a TANK (I think I can give it to my grand grand child later)
Feel like knobs are bit sensitive but still really nice.
Very very good
I use it at the end of the chain.
Very good sound quality.
No noise.
For me the gain feature is useful.
I'd like to choose the middle frequencies, but not many eqs have this feature.
I don't like Boss design.
That's why this is on every mucisian's pedalboard!
It do the job easily, effectively with the reliability Boss pedals have.A standard on my pedalboard. It can make another channel for your amp.
Pedalboard Standard
This is a classic swiss-knife pedal used by touring guitarists in a million different ways.
I personally use it as nuanced booster for leads, and have come up with settings for each of my guitars. The interface is simple, and the EQ is very musical.
My only grumble is that it's a little annoying that the inidividual band faders cannot somehow be locked in place, although there are very few problem in this world that cannot be solved with gaffer tape...
Great as a booster
The EQ is great anyway, but as a booster, it can't be beat. I leave all the dials flat and put the level up to the 1st marker. It doesn't alter the tone, just gives you instant volume.
It's a little noisy/hissy on my board, but in a live situation you won't notice it.
This Boss pedal is amazing
I think that Boss is the best pedal company in the world and this pedal is perfect to what a person need. Is very easy to work and is very beatifull.
Couldn't really ask for anymore.
Really easy to use and lets you boost whatever frequency you want. I found it tricky at first to get the sound I wanted without it distorting at first but I got there eventually. You can't store any settings but you can change it quite easily with the easily accessible frequency adjusters.
Always liked Boss
great multi functional EQ. I use it for guitars and sometimes when I need a little extra mixing on my live vocals. good pedal.
Great product if not essential...
Like all Boss its a well built unit....this pedal has been in the Boss range a long time and while its not what I'd consider essential kit it does have its place...though I don't use it outside of some home recording its a useful pedal to have on standby just to tweak either a particular guitars sound or as a pre-EQ to add a little extra especially to smaller/crankier/older amps....
Great Pedal For Guitar or Bass
I found this pedal excellent. Its only an equaliser but that can make all the difference to your sound.I use it to get a more bass sound for my guitar or bass when my other pedals make things too trebly. Its very handy, small and easy to use. Can't fault the pedal I just wish it came with a transformer!
an absolute must-have
Not many guitarists realize how significant an eq can be. But once you start using one, it al becomes clear. I bought mine to use with my fender telecaster standard usa. I felt the guitar needed some more low end and high tones trimming. And when this pedal came in it did exactly that with top grades. There really isn't much to it, you just plug it in, set the equalizer to a desired level and that's it. I like that it's simple. What i dont like is that these meters are extremely sensitive. You need to move the knob for like a smallest amount possible and the result is already very noticeable, so in some cases its quiet difficult to find and then keep this setting, especially if you use it for live shows. Just a touch of some cables on top of an eq can change its character drastically, so i advise some caution and second check after transporting it. Other than that, this pedal works superbly, and i cant play without it.
Great tone shaper
Use it to get rid of unwanted frequencies for so many tonal options or use it as a volume boost. Great pedal and like all BOSS stuff really well made.
Nice pedal
Easy to use, solid, a lot of tone variations, very effective device. Pedal just does the job. Highly recommended.
For boost? Ofcourse!!!
Since I bought PRS SE Standard 24 which has a feature to split pickups I was looking for a booster to keep signal solid and stable. This is awesome pedal for boosting. You can really feel the difference in a sound just by moving pots 1mm. It doesn't color your tone when on bypass, even when it is setup flat. I just love it, it is amazing. It can do with your sound whatever you want it to do.
