Flats for my Fender Jazz

Bought these flats for my Fender Jazz, the silk windings are the perfect length for bridge mounted strings (for through body you need the extra extra long sets) and the silk starts at the perfect place at the other end just past the nut.

Somewhat bright but otherwise great

It may be just me, however I was expecting a deeper low end whereas these are almost as bright as the Elixir Nanoweb I've tested before. With that said, they are silky smooth with a great feel and great tone apart from my personal expectation. They were a bit sticky on the hands at first but that stickiness only lasted for two days of playing.

New favourite bass strings

These are great strings. I don't know what it is about them - they have a very gentle metallic twang and give you lots of lovely overtones and harmonics. They're also very easy on your fingertips and just feel lighter than regular roundwounds of the same gauge. They have the added benefit that they are much more resistant to tarnishing the nickel steels. I seem to be able to tarnish guitar strings in a couple of hours (less so bass strings) but these stay really nice and clean. They're also very easy to re-polish with a little stainless steel cleaner.

My gateway drug into flatwounds

I used to hate flats for their so called dull and lifeless sound and swore by the rounds. Something eventually clicked in me and I decided to pull the trigger and just try them for just once. So, I fell in love with flats, their strong fundamental tone and especially the way they feel under the fingers. I guess it was an acquired taste for me.

Great strings

I have been using Daddario strings for four years and they offer the best sound/durability ratio at this price point. I have yet to find an issue with them, it seems that I am sticking to Daddario for now!

Reliable and Consistent

I only use D'addario strings because I find the quality consistent across the range. These are particularly good for my Fender Jazz Bass the sound quality is just as good after a year.

I use these on an acoustic fretless bass as to avoid the fretboard wear down by normal strings. Works great. Good quality and otherwise inconspicuous..

Best "in between" flats with enough thump and also harmonics

If you you are looking for a little brighter flats than the darker sounding La Bella's, this is your choice! Great thump and also some harmonics.

They don't let you down

Long time using D'Addario strings for bass and guitar. ECB1 are my choice for long scale basses. These strings have never let me down on stage and during small gig. Sound is really smooth and touch is fantastic.

They have quite the right length but not go for a longer than 34" or you may get some problem on reaching the machines.

I keep buying as other products from this brand.

Great Flatwounds

I've been repurchasing D'Addario flatwounds for the past 8 years. I love the warm sound they produce and they are extremely durable.

They're also not the most expensive in the market.

D'Addario's customer service is also excellent. I once purchased a set of these strings, but the G string seemed to be dead (it sounded extremly dull compared to the other 3). I sent an email to their customer care department and they sent me a new set free of charge.

Overall, very good product and brand.

Warm and Thumpy

These take a couple of weeks of playing to get to that warm thumpy flatwound sound we are all after. For those first two weeks they are actually quite a bright sounding string, but don't be fooled, they'll get there soon enough. Definitely recommended if you are looking for a medium tension flatwound string that will probably last forever. A very good price too.

Buy buy buy!

I love these strings so much. It's a fact, no getting round it. I've played many flat wounds over the years, and none of them have come close to the smoothness, brightness, or length of life of these strings and i would recommend them to ~anyone. The only downside of them that i have found is that after around four months of reasonably heavy playing, they lose their top end warmth, but with good EQ'ing, this won't be an issue, and if you aren't a fan of bright bass tones then these strings will last you forever!

Just brilliant

i love these strings,they give a very nice punchy tone & are quite bright sounding for flatwound strings,they even give a good slap tone too.

They are certainly not "dead" sounding like some flatwound strings can be.

I have them on my Thumb bass & it sounds just brilliant.

I really like the sound and the feeling of the D'Addario ECB81 Chromes which meanwhile I play on four different basses. The sound is warm and vintage and still can be varied by the tone setting of bass and amplifier. The surface of the strings is so smooth, fingers fly along.

I have Daddario flat wound strings on my acoustic and I really wanted to try these out on my new bass - I am only just learning bass and I am finding the original round wound strings a bit painful so I put these on - stunning! Smooth, no string noise easy to keep clean, last forever and yet they have a great tone - very little loss of brilliance. They may cost a bit more than round wounds but they last so long and with very little change in tone over time that they more than make up for the initial outlay - and they are still a lot cheaper than some. highly recommended
