Classic sound

Classic acoustic sound, and standard D' addario quality.

These strings are not coated and will not last as long as other coated strings (like the D' addario EXP's)

Good value

Good quality for the price range. If you play regularly they hold for a month. Nice strings, bright sound.

Very little quality decline over time

Fair warning, I love D'addario. Everytime I try new brands of strings I regret it and end up coming back to these guys.

The 12-53 Phosphors are no exception. Here is what makes them great:

Sound: A little more mellow than your regular 80/20 which means the first hour or so of play already sounds great and you aren't battling the horrible trebly sounds you sometimes get on fresh strings. These strings punch and have so much low end!

Longevity: If the first hour already sounds great be prepared for very little change in sound over time. I don't know what magic they wound into this set but the sound consistency is ridiculous.

I really don't have any cons for these strings. When I play a lot (unlike at the moment) and am therefore not using ultra-light strings (such as at the moment....) for my poor wee fingers (feign pity here), I come back to these time and time again.

Good quality

I change my strings once every 5 months or so on my acoustic (I wipe them down after every play) and i always return to ej16s. Somehow they fit my guitar the best. Although its more down to personal preference, i certainty recommend these strings as high quality and excellent tone.

Favorite!

My favorite acoustic strings. Tones are rich, bright and mids are great. I haven't tried any high price strings from other brands or Daddario but I appreciate these ones for 5 years without any complain. Only slight disadvantage is quick color change on first two strings.

Lovely sound and long lasting

These are the strings I've settled on for my K.Yairi acoustic guitar. I've tried at least 4 or 5 other brands / types, but I'll be sticking with these. Lovely bright lively sound when you put them on, and as the strings age, they still retain a warm and harmonically rich textured sound. I haven't changed my current set in many months.

Unmatched sound for recording

I'm in a process of transition from formerly used DAddario EXP16 to these.

I can surely say that they provide warm and bright sound I like.

What is specific for these strings, what was also valid for EXP16, is that they sound awesome for initial, let's say, 10-20h of playing. After that, they still sound good, but not "that" good anymore.

They're ok.

Good strings, rather stiff, sound very full. Last quite long with no tuning or tone issues.

Never had a bad set!

I usually use Daddario EXP coated strings, but bought this set for a guitar that I was selling. I've used Daddario strings for years and have never had a bad set. I don't know if it's something to do with the manufacturing process - but the never seem to break! (and the intonation is always accurate). These strings sound great as soon as they're put on the guitar with a real warmth, but also with great harmonic overtones. I actually prefer the sound of the Phosphor Bronze strings to the coated EXP strings so I may start using these and get used to changing my strings more frequently!

Decent sound

I really like the tone of the D'Addario Acoustic strings. This strings feel very well and have a brilliant, defined sound. The basses are very tight, so they fit very well to guitars which already have strong, dominant basses.

But unfortunately they don't last very long... they lose their sound very quick, even though they are made from bronze and phosphor. And: If you play them for an hour or two, your finger tips get green - seriously. So even though the sound is great, it isn't the best choice you could make.

I would rather recommend Elixir Nanowebs - they sound as good as the D'Addarios, but they last far longer, so they are in addition even cheaper!

Another good alternative are the D'Addario EJ series made of 80/20 bronze for a deeper, warmer tone.

Reliable Strings!

I have been using D'Addario lights for years and they've never let me down. Bright punchy sound and they last longer than other strings I have tried.

New strings makes acoustics shine!

I tend to change strings about a week before a gig when I know I will be playing acoustic - probably six time a year. The only problem is that new stings sound so good I play the guitar so much during the week that come the gig they are beginning to get old again!

I have been using D'addario's for probably twenty years and never had a complaint. I know what to expect and they are always spot on.

Better than Martin!

Whilst a number my friends use Martin strings I have always used D'addario since the guy I bought my guitar from checked in a set. I have tried Martin and I just think the sound on my guitar is better with these. The EJ16 Light strings are great for everyday playing but if you really want a beefy sound try the mediums they are awesome although it takes your fingers a little while to get used to them!

Best strings!

I just love this strings on my Takamine TAN16C. I tried several other strings and the sound just wasn't right for the mentioned guitar, it had a lack of bass, but this strings have just put a lot of life in mentioend guitar. Really love it and if you are not satisfied with sound of your guitar, give this strings a try…maybe they can save you from selling your guitar…
