Daddario EXL140-3D 5-stars Reviews
Very good
I finally stack with them. Good sound , long lasting.
Old favourites with heavier bottom.
Use these on my Ibanez AM93 semi-hollow. Great strings, great guitar.
Works well on Drop B baritone (26.5)
I have been using this gauge on a baritone guitar (26.5) for years. It is not too tight nor too loose on Drop B on this particular scale. It's a good balance for rhythmic and lead performance.
The strings are very durable and can last easily for several months while keeping their bright sound. They will withstand any aggressive picking styles as well.
Definitely recommended.
Last for Aeons!
Excellent set of strings, especially for downtuned Metal playing, I use these for Open C tuning. Last for ages, stay sounding great indefinitely, specially if you use a string cleaner before/after playing. I reckon you could tune these down to a Full B tuning and maybe a drop A without issue.
Best strings for half step down tune
I think this are by far the best steings I have ever used for half step down tune
Just great
Great set of strings.
Good strings for adequate price
These were my go to strings when I was playing with a band. Never had any problems. Quality, feel and sound were consistently great. Also, during this time (around 1 year) not a single string broke on me (I was changing them every month probably)
Good strings
Been using mainly the regular D'addarios since I started playing guitar 1.5 years ago.
Fresh set sounds amazing - really bright and clear. Very noticeable after ~1 month old strings. This new freshness doesn't last long, but wiping strings after playing sessions and using conditioners does help.
I change strings fairly often, so the price is very alluring!
Advantageous kit.
I use the drop D tune. Normal strings with good brightness.
Sounds good for 2 months with medium intensity.
Best strings on the market
Having played different strings brands over the years it all come down to d'addario. They last longer, don't brake like other brands and they sound great. Reliability in every set of new strings.
Awesome product.
Can never do wrong with D'Addario :)
My go-to strings
I adore these strings. They sound great, feel great, the only break I ever had was with a pretty old set while pulling my trem fully up, which is fair enough.
11s are a bit too heavy for soloing in my opinion, but standard 10s do not have enough tension on the lower strings for me; chords will be muddy and fast galloping riffs feel like running through quicksand. This set is the sweetspot for me, full sound with good playability on the upper strings, and very tight and clear lower strings.
Excellence from D'Addario
Great set for mild down-tuning, and for those who like a huge bottom end.
Used on 24.75 & 25.5 scale guitars down to drop C and open C tunings, with no stability issues, weird mis-matched tensions or flabbiness from the strings.
Well wound strings, they even cope in an '90s Floyd equipped Yamaha Drop 6 [28" scale] without coming apart in a month.
Good tone, long life [but I'm not a super sweaty player] and a good price.
Still can't get one baritone to play well, that needs 12-60's but for most of my guitars these rock!
bluesy tons
I have great bluese tons out of this ones!
Useing it for long time, they newer let me down. Nice sparkly clean tons.
would recomend it, price and quality well balanced.
Good for mild downtuning
These strings sound fantastic when they're fresh and they retain some of that character for a surprisingly long time. I use this set on a 25.5" scale guitar with a floating bridge tuned to D-standard. The tension is perfect in this gauge and no matter how much I abuse the whammy bar not a single string has ever broken. The NYXL might be a step up but in most cases these are just fine and you can't beat the price of this 3-pack.
My go-to strings.
I've played these for years, sound great to me, price is good too.
I really like them!!!
Just that...
I find in them anything I need, tone and definition-wise, and I just couldn't be happier with their quality!!!
I like to play around with different tunings, and thet offer a wide range of gauges. Also, the fact that a huge range of singles of any gauge are available to customize sets, is brilliant!!!
From time to time I try other brands, and many are OK, but is just I have found my feel and tone with D'Addario, and I'm always going back to using them.
It's a matter of taste, as always when sound is involved.
For me they're PERFECT, I love them!!!
Classic strings
My go to 10's. Excellent tone, strength and durability. One thing to note is that if you have acidic sweat it may rust quicker.
Tried and tested...
...I've been using Daddario strings for years and they do the job, pure and simple. I particularly like the hybrid sets with heavy bottoms - these EXL140s work great on my 24 & 3/4 scale fixed bridge guitars, and my drop tuned guitars with floating trems.
The best strings I've used after 20 years and many strings
I've had D'Addarios on my guitars for the past 10 years, and will never look back. They last for ages (months really for bedroom use) without significant change in tone, longer than any coated strings I've used.
I prefer a 10 gauge set, and have recently changed to a 10-52 light top heavy bottom set which makes chuggy riffing a lot more enjoyable. I had to file my nut and adjust my truss rod after installing them, althought the tension change isn't much over a standard 10-46 set.
The sound from these strings has plenty of bite, clarity and power for the mostly metal, punk and hard rock music I play. I've NEVER had one of these break either, and as I've said before I have had them on a guitar for some months of regular, hard use.
The 3D packs are especially awesome value.
