Perfect so far - be careful to use a good power supply

Feels well made. Sounds great. Especially when I combine it with a fuzz pedal. I feel like I could mess around with the thing all day.

I don't find myself using the expression pedal very often for the whammy. I like to keep the effect either on or off position. Except when I am moving quickly it from one position to the complete opposite. Otherwise it's difficult to keep your sound musical and in key.

I made the rookie mistake of using a cheap power supply to power my board. It was fine with my smaller pedals. But this draws more power (over 200 ma) than the standard 100ma pedals. So when it plugged in I got a lot of power supply noise. I can confirm from my tests that it was NOT the whammy causing the noise.

Summary - good pedal, be sure to use a good power supply.

Much more than just a pedal

Many features in this little acessory it is a must have for me. Not only do you have your classic Whammy pedal, you can down shift or up shift for thoose songs that are not in your original tuning, no more need to detune or change guitar. OVerall quality is very durable. I recommend to use it with additional pedal from DigiTech so you can change every setting with your feet. I guess the only con I have is a little delay when you detune a couple of octaves 2 or 3 octaves, but it is not really that noticeable, and it consumes a lot of electrical power.

All in all this is lots of fun for imagination. :D

Love it.

Its more of a toy but its versatile in what it does. the de-tuner is a very good feature. you can turn a 6 string into a 7 string with the tap function 2.

Most fun effect pedal out there!

We have here the Whammy and the Drop pedals combined in one. This offers a lot of different possibilities and combinations which makes this pedal really fun to use even for non-experienced guitarists. The Whammy is essential for Tom Morello's like tunes. The drop pedal offers you an incredible amount of new options to improve your songbook without having to re-tune your guitar all the time. A must have!

Fun for hours.

Great for replicating well known sounds from famous users, or experimenting with new ones for your own material. I personally love the drop tuning and octave features equally as much as the Whammy itself.

Combines great with a fuzz pedal and humbuckers for a real gutpunch sound.

Also useful for branching out and trying new tunings without having to keep seperate instruments ready, or even tune an existing one. The tracking is fine except for on chords in lower tuning, which I tend to avoid now when using the product.

That said, if you wanna make some noises and add some variety to your toolset - you can't go wrong.

Do you drop tune?

I've had this for years now and wouldn't do without it. Simple review. Tracks well and sounds great with both lead and rhythm.

Pros

No need to have other guitars set up with different gauges or tunings, no need to adjust truss rod. Expand your sonic/tonal repertoire, with no fuss at all.

Unlike the "drop" alone pedal you can go up as well as down and have a whammy as well.

Cons

At low amplified volume you can hear the original guitar tuning as well as the amped drop tuning. Only real solution is to have closed back headphones.

Do it!

De-tuning

I own a digitech gx 3 with some pitch shifting capabilities and it is laggy. So I was skeptical about buying this because I doubted the tracking ability. Well I bought that GX3 in 2003 and now it's 2020. I was shocked to see how much has changed in 17 years. It tracks extremely well and can handle quick runs, full chords and everything. I mainly use it for the de-tuning but everything else is great too. The device itself is built like a tank and feels great. I feel like this is a must purchase for all guitarists now.

it's a classic, it does what it does and boy is it fun

not much to say here. you'll know the effect from seeing it on countless of pedalboards probably made most famous by Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine or Buckethead. It's A LOT of fun!

Top pitch shifter!

It sounds amazing with good tension strings! Even with the 9's in E standard it is sounding ok, but pay attention on your floating unit lower pitch phisical movement, because it's creating some digital echo from bending the notes, the best is with real deal strings, like 10's, or hybrid and real deal floyd rose bridges, or just hardtail guitars...It is a top product!

Amazing pedal with great quality!

Wow, just wow! I purchased this pedal to have my guitar downtuned quickly. I normally do not change my tuning but sometimes I want to check out some cool songs that have lower tunings. It works brilliant down to -3 semitones. The lower, the more artifacts are occurring but hey, this is just law of psychics :)

The whammy part is brilliant, not only for Dimebag and Morello parts, it can sometimes help You get inspired to play something differently. I was afraid that I will just play around with it for a while in my studio and then it will collect the dust on the shelf... But I was wrong, I use it for small and big jobs, even reamping DI tracks for clients :) This product is no-brainer to buy :)

Meh

Has slight tremolo-ish effect on the sound from time to time, also has slight delay when drop tune activated. Knobs quickly went disfunctional, meaning slight turns would inappropriately change the settings.

Digitech Whammy DT review

After receiving the Digitech pedal and taking a quick look a the manual started to explore the sounds. The 12 string emulation is very useable and the option of having 3 voices: up - down and the regular gitar sound is great. The pedal works also great but needs to be handled with care as the effect is quite dramatic. Together with the optional extra footswitch it even becomes more exiting. The sound is really great and does not disappoint one bit. I should have wished for a direct out for the guitar signal and an option to mix dry and whammy sound. That would give the option record two channels and later mix them in software. Maybe an idea for the future? Al in all a great unit and more than pleased with it.

Legendary :)

What can I say? If you want to copy Tom Morello's solos or play some low-tuned djent without detuning your 6 string - go for it. It's worth it.

Innovative.

Pros

If used right this can really give a new dimension to your playing, especially while tracking guitars. There is a reason why it's one of the best in the market.

Zero Latency.

Cons

It glitches rarely. When pitch-shifted down, there are moments that it glitches when playing chords.

Swiss army knife of pitch shifting tools.

DigiTech Whammy DT is the veritable swiss army knife of pitch shifting tools. It improves on it's legendary whammy pedal by adding both latched and momentary drop tuning and true bypass to its original pitch shifting function. Now you can raise or drop the pitch up or down by 7 half steps or even an entire octave. There are also the classic whammy voicings. Detuning changes can be done in seconds with just a click of a switch, and you can even create trill effects with the momentary footswitch. The pitch tracking is well calibrated to the rocker pedal and the pitch shifted signal sounds full and realistic. Full midi control is available for patch changes via midi in.

The pedal is easy to locate on a darkened stage by it's leds and the housing is strong and durable and sure to serve a long lifetime even on the most gig weathered pedalboard.

Essential!

Great fun, but you need the adicional footswitch

O got this pedal for a year now and I use it all the time.

Its a shame that its so hungry, so you should always carry a separate power supply for it.

I am think the separate foot switch make it easier to operate.
