Digitech Whammy DT Reviews
Still the best pitch shifter on the market
Iâve used a lot of pitch shifters and whammys, and this is still the best sounding one Iâve encountered. No artifacts when using the pitch shifter, and itâs incredibly reliable. Great tracking too. Get one of these instead of retuning your guitar every time you want to change tunings. My 7 string is tuned to Drop G#, and I use this pedal to tune to Drop G, F#, F, E and D. Instead of tuning the guitar differently and setting it up with fresh strings, I just use this to tune lower. My 6 string is in Drop C and I use this pedal for Drop B and Drop A# Insanely good
Zwei super Pedale in Einem
Great pitch-shifter
Really nice pitch-shifter, specially the "drop" part of it. The only downside I can think of is the "harmonizer" mode, which sounds a bit too "digitally" to my ears. But then again, this "downside" is highly subjective.
All in one
If you want octaver, chorus +all whammy features - This is for you... You also need a lot of space on board. It does the job! Very nice pedal!
Best pitch shifter period
I didn't have the chance to try the unit before buying, so I had a few concerns about latency and pitch tracking. I've tried other pitch shifters and they fall apart when playing complex chords. The whammy DT handles everything I throw at it while maintaining a natural tone with no warbling pitch . Obviously when tuning down by a lot the tone can change, but that can be compensated for with a tighter distortion sound. Latency isn't an issue either, as I can play very fast scales and arpeggios without issue. The combination of features in the Whammy DT is well worth the large footprint; you don't have to choose between being drop tuned or using the whammy functions. The only thing missing is the classic mode from the Whammy V, but I prefer the solid pitch tracking of the newer algorithm.
Very versatile
The whammy DT can make a lot of interesting sounds. I've had it less than a week and have learned a handful of songs that I can only play using features found in the unit. You can mimic an octave pedal, a 12 string, I've used it with an 8 string guitar and a 5 string bass, and you get all sorts of interesting results. I specifically got it for the ability to drop tune without changing your instrument, and the whammy part is just a bonus. If you're down tuning more than 3 half steps down, the sound degrades, but I'm fine with that. The sound quality is quite good and it fills in the spots on my board I needed it to.
The classic Whammy pedal with loads of extras
Wanted that iconic sound to add to my pedalboard .. very little noise and a deceptively versatile pedal ,harmonies, the classic dive bomb , detuning a must have for the more adventurous musician ... With a little tweaking can even create a very effective violin like tone, amongst many ithers
Itâs got it all
It’s about the most versatile pitch shifter on the market and has about the best DSP for it. Harmonizing is super clean and tracks beautifully, and the tuning shift is incredibly clean both for up tuning and down tuning. Truly can’t go wrong with this pedal.
Great pedal
Great pedal. Can do octave up and/or down and it extremely versatile. Handy for quick key changes
Better than I expected
The drop-tuning sounds very clear even an octave down.
Useful drop pedal
Great tool for us without so many guitars in all the different tunings or with specific string preferences.
There is a bit of digital artifacts when changing tuning more than 2 semitones, but it sounds fine in a mix.
Excellent.
A real Swiss Army knife. Not just a Whammy - there’s downtuning, uptuning (capo), harmony as well as the trademark Whammy functions. Great build quality.
F****N awesome
This thing is serious . Must have for any guitar player as it has the drop and pitch shifter . Bit clunky but it’s worth the space on your board .
Superb Delivery
I had my doubts at first if it will arrived on the said date, and it did 3 days earlier than expected. Keep it up guys.
And about the product, as seen on the internet, it is doing its job. Handy when needed to transpose very quickly, if you are a lone musician. Best to have guitar gadget.
Maybe greatest pitchshift pedal in Universe
Firstly, I needed a pitchshift pedal because i have only one 6 string guitar (in standart E tuning) while being a fan of Korn & Meshuggah & other bands playing in extremely low tunings.
And Whammy DT performs this function perfectly - the descent to the m7 does not worsen the sound in any way. By the way, with other pedals in my pedalboard (preamp AMT K2, Dimebag wah-wah and Zakk Wylde Chorus), the pitch shift function works just perfectly. Otherwise, it is the familiar and long-known Digitech Whammy, which performs its functions as always - admirably.
It is also worth noting that the power supplies of the previous models (classic Whammy up to the latest versions) were somehow perverted. In this model, this has been fixed - finally, an adequate power supply without crazy resistance, etc. And the weight declared by the manufacturer (1.59 kg) will pleasantly surprise touring musicians who will finally be able to forget about the question to themselves: "Will my pedalboard fit on the plane as hand luggage?"
Summing up: this is definitely the best pitch shift processor on the market, which makes you say: "Damn, Digitech did not just cool, they jumped above their own heads"
Whammy DT Super pedal
Every self-respecting guitarist on a pedalboard should have a pedal. Super pedal. I love her. SUPER-SUPER!!!
An absolute blast!
I had my reservations, wondering if I really need this pedal. It felt like a novelty/gimmick product. But now that I have it, I actually use it very often! The drop tuning function is particularly useful, because I can quickly switch to -2 semitones or whatever, and it sounds just fine!
Caveat: Notice that there is slight delay/lag (a few milliseconds) when using this pedal, so it wouldn't be comfortable to play fast shred solos with the drop tuning function ("The Drop" pedal has the same issue). However, for normal riffing and slower parts, it works just fine. Now I can simulate playing heavy 7-string riffs :)
Another caveat: Notice the power requirements, as this pedal is much more power hungry than your average pedal. I use it with the 1Spot CS7 power supply, 500 mA output. It works just fine with that.
Built like a tank
The unit itself is super sturdy!
Sound-wise, its got very minimal latency. good for those who dont want to change tunings on their guitar but want play in a dropped tuning.
Overall a great pedal!
Pros:
+ Very good build quality - sturdy metal casing - built like a tank;
+ I like the fact that 'detune' option does not make the tone 'muddy' - you can even say that the tone does not change;
+ The expression pedal is good - changes the effect gradually without 'leaps';
+ I like the fact that it has also a 'built in flanger'
Cons:
The pot knobs could have been of better quality though. One knob cover came off even though the effect pedal has not been used very extensively (only in a home studio on weekends from time to time)

super cool guitar pedal, I rate it at 5 points, you can talk a lot about him and describe him and his opportunity....
