Best Pitch Shifter EVER!

The Whammy DT is an amazing pedal.

Personal Uses:

It provides me as a guitarist the ability to harmonise with myself, this is perfect if you wish to play anything like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Avenged Sevenfold, Kiss, Pantera if you can figure out what interval (harmony is being used) you can play literally any dual guitar riff/solo.

Features: The Whammy DT comes with a momentary foot switch on the 'DT' side which is extremely useful if you are playing a song in E and wish to drop tune to D (whole step down). The oct up + Dry is a really lovely feature if you are playing a clean song and want to emulate the sound of a 12 string guitar.

The Whammy itself track really well, it is a fantastic upgrade from the Whammy IV.

Sound: The sound is fantastic, there can bit a little noise (high pitch buzz) but if you have something like an Boss NS-2 it will clean up the signal just fine.

It works really well with a distorted signal, arguably it is as good with dirty signals as it is with clean ones.

Quality: It is cased in a solid metal chassis so there is no worry about it breaking, the only downside is that is can be tricky to change between the different settings e.g.

'1 oct up' - '5TH down' there is one simple solution for this though, purchase the Digitech FS3X Footswitch Pedal, this enables you to select which mode you want to use and go up or down on the display via 3 footswitches.

Overall : I believe the Whammy DT is a fantastic pedal, it can be used for any type of music, it also works well with bass but the Digitech Whammy Bass is specifically designed for bass, anyway, the pedal is a brilliant piece of kit and a fine addition to my pedalborad, I would strongly recommend purchasing it if you have the desire/need to.

Amazing pedal!

This is by far the best pitch shifting pedal I have tried, both in features and sound. The detuning sounds natural and there is no latency while playing. The Whammy side is simply awesome. To top it off, there is a momentary switch in the detuning side. Creative possibilities are endless with this pedal! Only concern is the size if someone likes to run a small pedalboard, although it is smaller than I expected.

great pedal

This pedal is a dream come true. It has so many possibilities, and all of them sound good. The sound quality is definitely superior than other Whammy pedals I tried in the past. The only thing I don't like that much is the fact that it's so heavy. Besides that, is a great adition to my pedalboard, and it has true bypass , which is excelent.

Great pedal

I use this pedal on my smaller pedalboard. It?s very versatile and can also limit the number of guitars you take to a gig if you use alot of different tunings. You can even use it as a chorus if you need one. Some of the sounds do seem a bit extreme but all in all an a great, well built pedal that will inspire you.

Awsome

I bought this to do some dive bombs. It turns out to be a real game changer. The two sides match each other really well. On the left side, the whammy effects work as I expected. But the game changer is the harmony settings. You can go from 5th to 6th harmony with the pedal which enables you to voice your rhythm playing in totally new ways. The pedal allows you to do nice glides similar to lap steel. There are two good chorus settings as well, but they are not as good as dedicated chorus pedals.

On the right hand side you have a complete detune possibility along with an octivider sound up and down. I use this quite a lot instead of having to switch guitars. The sound quality of the detuner is not studio quality but works well live.

I have gigged quite a bit with it and it works well on stage. But it has happened that I forgot to switch the detune off and start a song in the wrong key.

The tracking is good, latency is rarely detectable especially if you play with a bit of distortion. On some percussive songs the latency actually came through with the detuner, so it is there and can create a problem with the timing. No fun to try to be a couple of milliseconds ahead of the beat.

The midi programmability works well, I meddled with a midi looper to program a number of pedals with one stomp. Works well and is easy to understand.

To sum up, great pedal that actually changes your sound and playing. i recommend it.

wow

I use this mainly for pedal steel effects in a jazz context, not nuclear divebombs - and it's just superb. constant source of inspiration. Shame the footswitches aren't silent as this somewhat limits their usefulness in quieter gigs but it's a minor gripe. truly wonderful machine.

A Classic Pedal

This is a must to have pedal!

I think this pedal is basically different from the regular guitar pedals.

The idea behind the traditional pedals is to customize your guitar tone.

This pedal works more like an extra instrument. You can play technically new things on your guitar.

There are many things what you can not recreate without this pedal. Like: play the whole Seven Nation Army with one guitar, or do the solo part of the Killing in the Name Of.

So it is really a "Must To Have" pedal, other wise -> no Jack White solos.

Of course, not just for covers... It opens up new doors of creativity. You can create whole new riffs and blast some extraordinary solos.

I think the Drop Tune function is fun, but to be honest... it's not 100%. You have to drop the guitar's tuning to get the real dropped sound. I would more consider it as an extra effect option.

The momentary switch makes it more usable. Good for quick little surprise notes.

I think it worth the extra money to go for the DT -> more experimental stuff.

But, the basic Whammy could do the job too.

(Only negative: sounds a bit digital. No surprise. But still rocks.)

100% fun!

AMAZING!!

The best pedal ever made! I play rocksmith 2014 a lot and this game saved me tons on strings. I really recommend it.

DT whammy!

This thing is great, built very well and a wide range of sounds available from it.

You can use it as a standard pitch shifter to give you an octave up for a kind of twelve string effect or octave down for a heavy bottom riff (these are just my two most frequent uses for it) or you can use the other + the expression to give all sorts of cool dives and squeals.

This thing will be in my pedal board for a long time I suspect, the only negative I can think of is that my power supply that I run all my other pedals off won't power it so it needs its own PSU (supplied with it ofc)

Digitech Whammy DT

Digitech Whammy DT

It is a really fun pedal and does all that a regular whammy will do but with the added DT function.

It will however take up quite a bit of real estate on your pedalboard. It is a very easy pedal to use and the expression pedal movement is very smooth and easy to control.

The main draw of this pedal over any of the other Whammy pedals is the DT function. The pedal tracks what you are playing very well but on some settings the pedal can be overly digital sounding but for the most part is quite convincing. The further from the original tuning you set it the more noticeable it becomes and is most evident on the high E string or when you play in the higher register of the guitar.

The momentary switch is a cool feature and is good for hammer on / pull off sounds or to add a higher or lower octave to any part you are playing.

The pedal comes with a Harman power adapter, which if you live in the Ireland or the UK you will need an adapter to use as it is a two prong plug or you could use a different power supply, I use a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2+ Power Supply which works just fine.

Awesome product

This pedal is an absolute life safer if you're in a band in a very low tuning, drop g# or f# for example you can easily use the downtune feature to get these epic tunings without sacrificing much tone. The harmony whammy feature is also so much fun. Overall this is a very fun pedal and can be a very beneficial in ones pedal board. Definetely would reccomend
