EBow EBow Plus 5-stars Reviews
I found the sound of the elbow in classic recordings
I have had my elbow plus for several years. The shape and design of the ebow is now a design classic. The led string finder helps with accuracy tracking or strumming strings. Shape allows it to be used pointing up or down the strings depending on pickups. Found it works on any metal stringed instrument for leads, pads and drones.i.e bass, guitar, dobro, mandolin, banjo as well as guitar
I wish i purchased it sooner
Use this live with bass guitar, add in a bunch of effects (panning, flanger, reverb, delay) and manually use a wah wah to keep changing the sound. Instant moving soundscape which sounds huge and psychedelic! It has become indispensable for me now.
useful tool
takes time to learn how to use it but very cool for creating drone sounds
Great piece of kit to have in your arsenal
You may not use this a lot but it offers a great effect that if you need, you have.
dropped one point for handling because it takes a tiny bit of practice to get the positioning right
Brilliant
Don't know why I didn't buy one of these years ago, brilliant, love the sound and build/shape of the proper ebow. Brilliant on electric guitar and really cool on a resonator.
Best sustainer on the market
I've tried lots of variants, the Soundstone, Joyo, etc but the EBow is the best of all, especially with the harmonics switch.
Guitarists' "must have" tool
This product is not comparable as it is very unique and started it's own thing. However there are some other brands also produced similar products but none of them are a match for this.
What it does; it is basically creating infinite sustain as it is magnetically generating resonance on the strings the string will keep resonating until you take the ebow away from it.
How it sounds; Simply incredible. This is one of the products that you don't understand you need it until you have it. Without it you can still play your guitar and the songs you love. However, ebow can easily inspire the player and widen the playground.
Summary; It is not like that I'm using it whenever I play guitar. It is oftenly supporting my solo ideas and helping me to enhance them. Sometimes it is so fun to just improvising with it. I recommend to every guitarist to keep an ebow in the rig.
Practice with it and you will get great sounds with it on your guitar or bass.
I really tried it and.... Wow!!! there were moments that shocked me that i could get that out of my Bass... but practice is really needed to be very
consequent in maintaining that sound and keep going with that..it is it not easy as all the Ytube clips shows it to be....Practice practice practice ....and that is a good thing! :-))
Good device for experiments
I use it for piano expermental and modern music. Really cool thing, just sometimes a bit silent :)
Very useful
Takes a while to get used to but amazing
Just as good as ever
With the added function of an on / off switch and a second harmonic mode a classic just got better.
Infinite sustain and some more
I really liked it. It produces sounds which immediately remind me of King Crimson, Anathema, and the intro from Damage Inc ;)
What I like about it is that it allows playing melodies that are more vocal or wind-like, very different from what I would otherwise play on a guitar. It's a different kind of expression.
Some facts I didn't know:
1. It works in pair with the pickup. It can drive any string, but it produces maximum output when pointed at pickup magnet poles, and it gets really loud there. Very loud.
2. When it's close to a pickup, it produces soft and pretty overdriven tone.
3. It works on one string at a time while resting on the neighboring two and muting them. It's possible to jump from string to string seamlessly, but that takes practice.
4. It has certain upper limit - notes above high E (12th fret on the first string) are quieter and excite more slowly, and notes above high B (19th fret) almost disappear.
excellent
not much to say...infinite sustain, an absolute classic. Any guitar player with even the slightest appetite for experimentation should have one.
Amazing - no other words
This tools other than creating amazing overtones it influences completely the approach of composition
Super fun
This is an awesome gadget. It takes a while to get used to, but it’s super fun and opens a lot of space for playing/covering pieces. E.g. Bowie’s Heroes… I’m happy with my purchase and honestly I can’t say there’s anything I’m not happy with.
Strongly recommended for ambient guitar
It's just an awesome piece of gear, especially for the single note ambient swells. As it can be considered an instrument of its own, you need to invest some time in it to get the best results, but it is very much a worthwhile investment! I gave the quality 4 stars mainly because the build is quite plasticky and sometimes I get quite anxious of dropping it on the floor. But otherwise highly recommended!
The classic EBow
Most of you will know what you are getting with this - the classic EBow and like most reasonably recent iterations, two modes: 'standard' and 'harmonic'. In actuality, both modes tend to drive harmonics above the fundamental of the note held, but 'harmonic' will always drive a harmonic one or two steps higher. It is not possible to be precise about this because it depends somewhat on the gauge and tension of the string, the note fretted and the position of the EBow along the string. The two modes are accessed via a three-position switch. The centre position turns it off. A blue LED on the front warns you when the EBow is on.
This EBow comes with several extras: a solid reusable box, a drawstring faux-velvet pouch, many stickers and a remarkably long instruction manual. The manual goes into some depth about playing techniques.
In short, this is still good value and you'll know you'll be getting the classic EBow. There are a range of experimental possibilities beyond the obvious applications with an EBow - I found that it is possible to sustain a tuning fork with an EBow!
Versatile Kit
I have been using this E-Bow for a few months now on electric guitar and bass and I am really surprised with its versatility. Firstly, the two settings allow for a range of uses on electric guitar. The standard resonance is great for long sustained notes, and when coupled with the right amp/pedal settings can produce really dreamy, ethereal sounds. The harmonic setting is great for producing controllable feedback sounds which are great in heavier songs. It is also really easy to control the volume of the guitar my moving the E-Bow further away from the string.
The E-Bow also works really well on bass guitar, however I find that the tone it produces sounds much more digital and lacks warmth. That being said, using bass pedals alongside the E-Bow has helped to shape the tone and I have found use for this and it works really well.
Flexible and effective
Takes some practice but well worth it.
The two different positions ('normal' and 'harmonics') are effective and easier to switch. Great for those soaring legato solos
Best Post rock Companion
e-bow with delay and reverb can do magic. This device is really inspiring and one should definitely experience it (hard to describe in words).
Just one con, It doesn't come with a battery
