Space echo, but with its own character

This is a replica of the Space Echo. I have an original vintage unit in my studio to compare. The modern one sounds different. But it's good different:

— The gain is much more controlled

— All knobs and switches are in perfect working order (which cannot be said about my vintage unit)

— The motors are snappy and play well

The thing is very easy to operate, and the sound is a joy.

Surprisingly, apart from the spring reverb, this unit also has a DSP engine for additional reverb. Sure, why not.

A thing of beauty

A real, vintage inspired but new, tape machine is a dream come true. The unit has the distinctive sound of a space echo with a much lower (but still not completely unnoticeable) noise floor. The delay time on offer isn't the longest when compared to digital delays and feedback can be at times hard to control, especially when pushing the preamp, but this is a real tape unit so it has all the limitations of one, and the benefits: the repetitions are so organic and beautiful that is hard to find in anything else. Digital delays, modern emulations or cheaper analog delays can all perform at least equally well, if not better in many occasions, and they won't be substituted by this machine, but there is nothing quite like a real tape echo unit and its sound and if you can afford this unit, you should consider getting one, but note if you are after a Binson echorec tone this isn't it, but if you love the Echoplex or the Roland Space Echo you are at home! It's a thing of beauty!
