King of fuzz

Once i started looking into pedals as a beginner, one name kept coming up over and over and it was the big muff. Wasnt sure which one to go for so went big and got the deluxe and it doesnt disappoint. Perfect for stoner bass riffs

Amazing pedal !

This pedal is really the one I was looking for. The sound is very nice and versatile, the pedal is easy to handle and the extra features like the direct out and gate come in very handy.

so many features at such an affordable price

I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting, but this pedal blew me away! I've been using a multi-fx pedal with a Muff-style fuzz but having the real thing is just so much different.

this pedal has so much body and muscle to it, and it sounds just super tough. the fuzz itself can vary from a little distortion to full out fuzz - and with the blend knob, you can keep however much dry signal you want. personally I like it at 1/2 o'clock, with just enough clean bass to fill out the low-end. the gate is also super handy, gets rid of any unwanted noise with a simple turn of the knob, and works really well

this is all without talking about the 'crossover' feature, which basically makes this a 2-in-1 pedal. there are even more different sounds you can get from this function with the hi-pass and low-pass filters (where the HPF affects fuzz only and LPF affects dry signal only)

I do not believe I have any cons with this pedal, though with time I'll get to know it better

all in all a very, very good pedal and it's for sure a keeper :)

Awesome Pedal

I just love this pedal for my bass. Sounds great and a pleasure to work with.

Bass effect with character

Very useful distortion for bass. Wide range of sounds: from subtle, but consistent quasi-overdrive to hard fuzz. Crossover section is a nice expansion of this classy, well-known unit. Solid, strong and reliable.

Massive sound

I used it both with Moog Subsequent 37 and with bass guitar.

The pedal gives a lot of sound shaping possibilities.

Pros: good fuzz

Cons: to change battery you have to disassemble the unit.

Deluxe edition, deluxe quality

I will just start with what blows me away most; the sounds. There is a lot of tone control with this pedal. You can have just a hint of fuzz, full on fuzz, or even sound like a 70's distorted guitar. This pedal is just unbelievable with the potential of sounds coming from this. Best part? Activating the bypass and/or the crossover makes no "pop" like some of the cheaper pedals on the market.

When I opened the box, I didn't realize the actual size of it until I held it in my hands. It is about twice the width of a wah pedal but the casing is pure METAL. I honestly believe that I could hit it with a hammer and only make a minor dent in it with no damage to the circuit board inside. My guess is that it is made out of 16 gauge steel. Bottom line is that this pedal feels road-worthy and durable.

All in all, I recommend this pedal to every bassist out there. If you're willing to drop money on the Big Muff Pi, get the deluxe. It is just better.

BiG Muff What Else

This is my 3rd Big Muff.

I use a lot of effects pedals with my bass, and got a previous one that I exchanged for a Boss DS-1... Not the same thing.

So I was to go back to my old Big Muff and saw that this one had a Gate on it, so I decided to by this.

There are nothing no cons only pros.

The classic Big Muff sound with a Gate and the LPF and the HPF are sweet as honey.

I would definitely advise any one to buy this.

THE BEST FUZZ FOR BASS!

If you're a fan of the regular bass Big Muff Pi and you want something with a bit more flexibility to it, this pedal's your best bet! It gives you full control of how much distortion is blended with the dry signal while allowing you to control the overall volume so you don't find yourself too loud or too quiet for the mix when you kick it on.

The crossover switch is especially cool because it puts a high-pass filter on the distortion and low-pass filter on the dry signal to give you more of a scooped tone - and you can control just how scooped it is with the HPF/LPF dials too! I find it perfect for when you're playing leads and you need to cut through the mix more. Just be aware that when turned to a little beyond 11 o'clock the LPF becomes very, very deep and bassy; it tends to be a bit overpowering. But turn it higher or lower than that and you should be fine.

If you love the tone of the Big Muff Pi I can't recommend this one enough.

Legendary FUZZ

No enough words about the sound of the Big Muff. I play bass and the only thing I need as a drive pedal is this one. Better than Overdrive and better than Distortion.

The deluxe has more capabilities than the regular Big Muff, because of the crossover feature. Endless sound adjustments.

The only thing I don't like in this pedal is the foot-switches.

They are not smooth at all. Other than that is my favorite drive pedal and the best one for bass in my opinion. Keep it classy!

Best Bass Distortion/Fuzz

Bought this pedal unsure if it was worth the extra money instead of a regular bass big muff and have no regtrets on getting it.

The pedal is dynamic and can cover a lot of fuzz/distortion sound.

I play in a loud band and i've had pedals that have a nice tone but end up not carrying the sound through, but this pedal is more than capable at keeping up with the rest of the band.

Can't really flaw it, if you're looking for a sign to buy this pedal, this is it!

Excellent Pedal

I had tried out one of these pedals briefly and decided to buy one for use with guitar. The main reason I got it for use with guitar was the blend function. The blend of clean and the Big muff fuzz sounds great. And yo can also get that great Gig Muff sound by itself. I also use this for its intended use, bass. The crossover gives you a great tight bass sound.The dB switch is good for switching between active or passive bass guitars. I also use the direct out for two different signal paths. Overall this is a great pedal but as with EHX pedals I fully expect to be replacing the switch in the next year or two.

Very versatile!

I have been playing with this for a few months only and I already love it! It offers all the versatility I was looking for.

With the blend option you can mix the clean and distorted sound to find the mix you need. In general I like to use a slight fuzz behind my clean signal, but with just one knob I can a dirtier sound if needed. Even more tunability is possible through the bandpass filters from the crossover option. You just need to spend some time playing with the knobs and you will definitely find the tone you want!

The holy grail of fuzz pedals

This thing is brilliant.

If you're familiar with Electro Harmonix products, then you'll know what to expect - superb build quality and creative functionality. This thing has both in spades, mine has survived beer spills and produced some truly wonderful sounds, live and in the studio.

There's no superfluous controls on here, so it's not needlessly overwhelming. Everything has a very clear function, and will have a massive effect of the sound.

To the sound itself, a massive range is possible. The blend control allows you to be sure that no low-end is sacrificied, which is usually the one main drawback of fuzz effects. I've found the pedal will do pretty much everything from a subtle, dirty overdrive, to a full on wall of stoner fuzz. Hours of fun to be had by slamming out chords.

Engaging the crossover control opens up what is effectively a second fuzz effect (2 in 1, how bad!) and you can adjust the high pass and low pass filters to your heart's content, for an altogether different kind of fuzz. I find this option tends to open up a range of more grinding tones, which wouldn't be out of place in hardcore, death metal, etc. I've used this in a few situations to produce screaming high gain feedback, and other noises. Really with this pedal, your imagination is the limit.

The -10dB switch is a life-safer, as the signal coming off my pedalboard is quite hot, especially when the Big Muff is thrown into the mix. The master volume knob has ample headroom to get you back where you need to be.

This has been well worth the money, and I'm not going to be looking for any other fuzz pedals any time soon, because it just does everything so well. I'd highly recommend testing it out for yourself.

All the fuzz you need!

The EHX Deluxe Bass Big Muff Pi has taken a classic and made it so much more versatile. In addition to the classic fuzz tones the deluxe version first adds a Blend and a Gate control. The Blend allows you to dial back in more of your dry tone so you get more of the mix you like. The Gate is very handy if, like me, you're a bit clumsy and have a tendency to catch other strings. It is great and making sure nothing extra comes through when you're not playing. Secondly, there is a Crossover section for shaping your tone. This has High and Low pass filters which you can play around with to find new ways to change your sound. I tend to leave this section off, preferring my standard sound with the right amount of fuzz blended through. In all, it's a marvellous pedal. Built to last, like all EHX pedals. Pair this up with a Micro POG for a very quick and easy Royal Blood style sound.

great unit

This is a fantastic unit which i have been using for a few months now. The casing on the unit is very sturdy and consists of a very strong metal case, the overall build on the unit is really very good. Electro harmonic are famous for the great tone that their pedals produce and this unit is no different. The Bass fuzz is thick and creamy but a small bit of playing with the tone control can made it very angular and will make your bass stand out in any mix. the gain will also give your tone a long creamy sustain, overall this is a great little unit

Bass fuzz as good as it gets!

Having messed around with multiple amps, fuzz/distortion pedals for year on the Bass, this just does the job in one box. If you love the big muff sound then its all there, but the real show stopper is the crossover function. This basically negates the need for two amps in creating a proper bass fuzz sound. The cross has low pass and high pass filter (adjustable) that replicates splitting the sound to two amps. The top end is fuzzed and the bottom end is clean.

If anyone is frustrated by "blended" bass overdrive pedals sounding like a clean and dirty basses playing together this pedal solves the problem.

If you like the blended sound then that's there as well.

Fuzz tone from gentle scratch to full-scale massacre!

What can I say? You can really dial out anything! When I watched it's demo from EHX, I said, OK, what I'll need is Tone at max, Blend at max, sustain at max, everything at max to get that really thick, booming, aggressive sound I though I'd fancy. Guess what! I was wrong. Even for my extreme metalhead ears, the maximum settings are waaaaay too much :) I didn't like the recommended settings either, so I had to find my tone with it which needed some time, but it was worth it! Juicy little fuzz pedal.

If you are interested in what I use:

Volume at twele o'clock

Blend at four o'clock

Tone at twelve o'clock

Sustain at a little more than three o'clock

Gate at eleven o'clock, but this varies from setup-to-setup, I was relieved to hear that it makes no dominant change in the sound.

Crossover ON:

Both filters at nine o'clock.

But you can really dial out any tone you want. I'd highly recommend this over the standard BigMuff, on the first hand because of the Gate, without it your ears would explode, because it brings through a lots of noise...but a friend of mine explained, that to get the exotic Muff sound, it has to be nosiy...and on the second hand, because of the crossover section. It increases your tonal possibilities, but can be disabled if you don't need it. Very useful.

propably the coolest fuzzpedal i've ever used.

its build like a tank, it looks super cool.

the gate works perfect for me, though its a bit edgy, but only at lower levels!

soundwise it fits perfect for my bands tone, i play a squier vm jazz through an ashdown halfstack, the amount of gain you can get out of it is beyond useabel! (im a metalhead. ;) )

i cant say much about di out/direct out cause i just run it as fuzz in my signal but

it will work fine i guess.

if you are in seek for some nasty yet noiseless fuzz, from vintage to satans fart sound, get it. cant go wrong for this money

Have your Pi and eat it !

This version of the Bass Big Muff is by far the best yet (imo). The noise gate feature is perfect for any unwanted hiss and it works very well, not cutting off notes etc. The blend control allows you to mix how much dry signal you want mixed in with your

distorted tone. The Crossover section (a high- and low-pass filter) works wonders is adding extra possibilities in shaping the feel and tone of your sound. The addition of a 0dB and -10 dB pad switch is very helpful if you have active or passive pickups. Over all a great pedal with that great Big Muff sound and more ... I recommend it !
