The best Big Muff?

What else to say after all the existing reviews / feedbacks on this incredible reissue of the Green Russian. You will get the perfect Big Muff sound, very punchy on the bass but clear enough to hear chords and different strings. I use it as alternative of the Ram's Head Big Muff version but this one would be my #1 choice for Big Muff

Black keys all day

This is a centerpiece of my board, even though it is the cheapest pedal on it. I wish to upgrade it someday to the original green russian fuzz, but until that happens this is a solid substitude

I am trying to recreate the black keys sound, and i have maybe not really a correct guess, but a cool sounding one - i use big muff as my stock overdrive. I really like their sound in live in crystall ballroom, for example the song thickfreakness - dan has a very heavy fuzz at the beginning and then he switches to lower gain sound which has a lot of low end and very bright mids. I do that low gain sound with big muff. It doesn’t fall apart when you play both low strings and high strings. I am 80% sure that is not what he is doing, but it sounds cool)

Tone knob is also a fuzz/ gain knob here

Very nice fuzz for guitar and bass

I've tried this pedal with guitar, and it has very very fat sound with bass, and fuzzy sound with bass. This pedal don't has blend control, but in my opinion, for this pedal it is not necessary. The best pedal for price

Perfect for shoegaze, acid rock and any heavily distorted genres.

Bought this pedal because I wanted a good fuzz pedal for an affordable price and I am not disappointed!

Out of the box, the pedal has a very sturdy build quality, but is not too heavy or large that it would weigh down your pedalboard. The rubber pads on the bottom covering each of the corners are a nice touch. All the knobs have a high-quality feel to them and operate with no problems, and the footswitch is reliable.

Sound wise, this pedal certainly packs a punch. Compared to the other Big Muffs, it has a much more bass and mids focused output than, for example, the Triangle Big Muff. It is warm, but not muddy, and the tone knob offers a wide range of sounds from moody My Bloody Valentine tones to brighter, Slowdive-esque tones.

I would certainly recommend the Green Russian to any fan of shoegaze, acid rock, psychedelic rock or other similar genres. It can be easily incorporated to a budget pedalboard. It's the only fuzz pedal you'll ever need!

Best fuzz i've played.

Great sound, compact on board. Would pair it with an EQ to cut through.

The best Big Muff

Of all the Big Muffs, this is my favourite. I find the others a little too trebly, waspy or thin, but the Green Russian is a perfectly thick fuzz.

My only complaint is the knob labelling, which is practically rendered invisible unless you are looking straight down at it with ample illumination to boot, however if you are using it frequently you soon learn which knob is which.

What the fuzz!

I love the sound of this version of the big muff. I've tried many of them, but I just love the way this version sounds. Plus the color and the finish are dope! Highly recommended if you love devastating fuzz sound that works amazingly with single coils, P90 or humbucker pickups.

Great Fuzz for Gilmour and Hendrix tones

It's a great fuzz pedal, easy to shape the tone. Very suitable for blues and rock tones

The best

The Russian is - by far - the best of the Big Muffs. Slightly more gain means it can be used along the entire spectrum. It has more mids than your average Muff, cleans with the volume guitar and is musical on any setting. And it is relatively cheap. I could not be happier.

Green russian Big Muff

This is one of those pedals you can basically put on any setting, it always sounds good. It can give you a sweet sound with a lot of sustain but also a powerful more bass sound. It is however different from the standard big muff, but in my opinion, it is one of the best fuzz pedals out there. Buy it!

Excellent fuzz

I wanted something similar to Link Wray's style and Big Muff definitely delivered that rough, dirty sound I was looking for.

Great fuzz and overdrive!

This pedal can give you a great, relatively heavy fuzz, with lots of bottom end. It will also give a nice overdrive with the volume knob rolled back.

All in all, a very good sounding pedal!

Actually a new classic!

The real thing. It sound amazing. I mean not just that classic russian big muff tone (it have it all); you can hear the nouances, that's where you separate the pro's gear from the others even good. This is the best big muff of the bounch without doubt. I had a lot and I settled with this since it came out.

That'a a more thing I found on this that's really good: you can use it also at low gain settings and this makes me blow away because hardly you can do it with the muffs. You can use it also as a strange overdrive and I can tell you it does.

Construction tank style,

Knobs with good and regular course, they just have the right amount of stiffness.

Form factor for me is perfect, I appreciate the mooer style form factor but I really like to see the pedal when I stomp on it.

Price point is perfect.

I can not see any cons.

Please don't touch it!

A very nice sounding pedal for the price

Nothing bad to say about this pedal, the sound for the price is excellent. I do get a feeling though that it is not a sturdy construction and people moving this pedal to different locations might want to be careful with it.

Despite the above comment, I rated the quality at 5, because I haven't had an issue with it, but it always stays at my home.

A very Huge Big Muff

The EHX Green Russian Big Muff is based on the original green Sovtek, which is similar to the Civil War model.

The sound is characteristic, and incredibly similar to the originals.

Huge sound, exceptional harmonics and a lot of headroom.

It doesn't need to be paired with other pedals, even if slight clean boost or transparent overdrive will bring out even more of its character.

Excellent pedal to recreate the sound of David Gilmour's Muff, especially that of the 90s (e.g. Live Pulse).

Sounds like a Russian Big Muff

I owned a Russian Big Muff in the 90s. I killed it. Despite appearances, they weren't very well made but I loved the sound of it and have been searching for that distortion/fuzz ever since.

My search has ended with this little reissue. It sounds like I remember my old unit sounding - huge, fat, nasty and fuzzy - not fizzy. This model seems much better constructed, too .

So far, I'm extremely happy.
