honest booster

You get what you pay for, but I must say this pedal is very solid.

boost pedal

this one really boost your sounds. but be careful you might place it at the end of your pedals. i mean better to place output going to amp so it will work 100%.

Excellent Boost Pedal!

I use this pedal mainly as a solo boost. It does a fantastic job of literally boosting the volume and managing to add zero character to the sound. At the last quarter or so, it may add a slight amount of gain. but is mostly a clean boost up to that point. It's very smooth.

The design is flawless. It's a great chassis, nice and durable. The knob is plastic and easily turned, but not easy to accidentally adjust with your foot as you turn it on or off - which is great.

Price wise this is unbeatable. There is nothing close to this pedal in terms of quality and price. It should really cost more to be honest, judging by what else is out there.

it's a booster!

yes, it's a booster, this is the job, I can say that it's quite good, I use it in the send/return, not over 10 o'clock, good colour sound, advise.

Solos are more fun now

Handling:

Very easy, very puristic. One knob nothing else. You simply adjust the bosster to the level of boost you want to have and that is it!

I play in an Indie rock/pop band and in my opinion I lacked presence in my lead parts. So I searched the internet for a solution and this is what I came up with. The sound stays the same. So if you play on a crunchy setting this pedal won´t change it to a super distorted sound. It simply makes your signal louder. Nothing more and nothing less. So if you are a lead guitarist and want more presence in your lead parts this is what you should get!

Ehx lpb1

Does what it says, great for solos etc. you can also get quite a cool sound when using it on it's own as a clean signal as it adds a bit of a Lofi sound

Fantastic value pedal

I used this as an always on pedal at the beginning of my chain. It made my guitar sound fuller and thicker (especially my Tele) and it allowed me to boost my drive pedals a bit more to get some more gain. It works just as well as other boost pedals that you could pay twice the amount for so why waste your money?

As with all EHX Nano pedals, the casing is solid as a rock and I was never worried that this would break.

Since I now only play humbucking guitars I don't really find the need for a boost pedal so I ended up selling it but if I were to return to single coils I would definitely buy again.

Great, simple boost pedal

This pedal is ideal for anyone looking for a cheap alternative to some of the more expensive "clean boost" pedals on the market, with it's small construction and hard metal case it can fit easily on any pedalboard and will stand up well to the rigors of gigging and rehearsals. Since purchasing this pedal I have also purchased an EQ pedal and a volume pedal in my quest for finding a great clean boost, however I always found myself going back to this. You can drive it a little through the front of the amp for a small volume boost, however to really access the full potential of this pedal it should be placed through the FX loop on your amp, the volume boost is exceptional. I used this in a band with 2 other guitar players (and a particularly loud drummer) and every time it helped my solos beat the sound man and cut through the mix.I would highly recommend this pedal to anyone looking for a bargain or an easy alternative to turning your guitar/amp up and down constantly for solo boosts. If something were to happen to this I would definitely run out and buy another. I have had it for 4 years and it barely has a mark on it.

Fantastic value!

I honestly don't understand why this pedal doesn't cost more than it does, as its relative quality far outweighs its price.

I opted for the LPB-1 over an MXR Micro Amp purely based on price, and safe in the knowledge that Electro Harmonix equipment is consistently high quality. Having played through both pedals, I cannot see any difference in sound or quality, only that the EHX is significantly cheaper.

At lower volumes, in front of the amp, the boost is relatively clean, but breaks up my Orange head beautifully when pumped up. In the FX loop the boost is totally clean.

The casing is sturdy metal, the switching is silent and even the plastic knob seems very robust.

I have noticed that there is a bit of a 'pop' when the pedal is switched on or off, which is the only downside. This could be remedied by installing a higher quality switch quite cheaply though.

An absolute must if you need a boost pedal on a budget.

Good little boost

This boost works very well both for clean boosts with my strat and driven sounds with a humbucker guitar. It can get a little bit harsh at times but it's possible to remove this using the EQ on the amp or a pedal.

Excellent bang for buck

Excellent bang for buck. Simple, good, works like a dream. I can't complain on anything. And the small form factor makes it a perfect match for the pedalboard. Buy this!

top classic piece of kit.

I haven't compared this pedal with the thousand other boost pedals out there but I really like it. Basic, cheap but good build quality. Changing batteries is a bit of a pain due to four screws. I think it sound fairly transparent. Used in fornt of my Vox AC15 it give me some distortion at lower levels using a single coiled guitar. I tend to use the boost set fairly low.

Boost !

"I'm looking for a pedal, that can make my solos outstanding and louder, but I don't have a lot of money to spend"

This was my goal and I achieved it with the LPB-1 by Electro Harmonix. It doesn't take a lot of space on your pedalboard and is built very solid and built to last with a metalcasing.

You could use it in front of your amp, which would add more gain to your sound if you kick it in, or you could put it in your FX-loop as I do, which will make your sound louder.

The gain or loudness can be adjusted with the only knob on the pedal, which says "Gain". Believe me, there is so much room, I'm afraid to turn it up over 12 o'clock since it's just too loud there, even for our drummer ! ;-)

If you don't need a special EQ-Setting for your soloboost, you can go with this very inexpensive, little helper.

decent signal booster!

this electro harmonix LPB-1 is an excellent signal booster. It has only one knob so it is super easy to control. The sweet spot is around 9 o'clock. Above that setting the signal gets boosted. I use it in the effects loop of my guitar amp to slightly raise the volume for my guitar solos. The LPB-1 doesn't really alter the tone quality. There is just a very light increase of the lower frequencies when engaged, but you won't notice that in a band setting. The metal housing is very sturdy and can take a beating.

EHX LPB1

Cheap and effective. Does exactly what you'd expect and more. If the volume knob is below around 9 o'clock it can be used to lower the volume of the guitar too, which is nice if youre using the LPB1 before a distortion you can lower the signal going into the distortion pedal. Great pedal with lots of uses and fun to experiment its different effects on other pedals while using it in conjunction with them.
