Elixir Nanoweb Medium Phosphor Reviews
Best strings out there
These are my favorite strings, really phat sound and they last forever. In my opinion these sound best when they get a bit dirty and worn down. They tend to be bright when they're new.
Great strings
Great sound, great quality. Changing to these strings made an old, beat up acoustic guitar come back to life.
Fantastic strings!
I'm loving these Elixir strings. Taylor ships their acoustics with Elixir strings and rightfully so. They are very long lasting and sound amazing. Will keep using them.
Great sound
Guitar : Yamaha
Bit harder to bend when switching from light gauge but the sound and feel are superb
Slides and pull off sound full
the best
after trying a lot of string sets, finaly THE BEST
Love these strings
Perfect for my Taylor GS Mini
Solid and lasting
Whether or not they sound too bright depends a lot on the guitar. But quality and lifetime wise they are just the best.
Top of the line
Elixir have made the best strings for steel string guitars for a long time. The great advantage of these is the nanoweb coating which not only prevents corrosion but helps to hold tune and is easier to clean, thus extending string life. A set of these sounds as good months later as it did when first used.
Perfect Match for Taylor GS Mini
As per recommended by Taylor, I replaced the original strings on my GS Mini with this set. Apart from the brighter sound from a new set, I found the same great sound... factory fresh!
Elixir is the best strings you can find. Last long and sounds great.
Great Strings!
These go on my Lowden F50 guitar and they suit the instrument well. Changing strings less often while maintaining good tone is an absolute luxury.
It wouldn't make sense to buy these if you're prone to breaking strings, aside from the expense, it would defeat the purpose of using something built to last. Also, if you're on an instrument that doesn't sound good to begin with, there's not much to be gained putting these on.
If you split your time on more than one guitar these are great. Instead of opening a case after a couple of weeks to find discolored and dead sounding strings that won't tune true, you pick up right where you left off.
Put these on a nice instrument and they will sound great for a long time.
Happy
Sounds great on my acoustic Gibson.
Reliable, Quality, Sound amazing
I flog a guitar at work every day as a musician so tend so change strings every 3 weeks or so. As the old saying goes... "You get what you pay for". I'd feel short-changed putting anything other than Elixir nanowebs on my guitars now.
Aside - (Medium gauge) Still a hefty set of strings so if I can give any pearl of wisdom its make sure your bridge can handle the pressure of them! Its all very well sticking big strings on but a lot of bridges can be quite slim and when stuck on with a super-adhesive could, over time, lead to a split/hairline fracture or worse, could be an accident waiting to happen. Definitely worth taking it to your local guru for a once over and peace of mind.
I cant say it enough.. The Best!
Give them a try. You wont be disappointed. They are quite a bit cheaper here than my local store but I only ever order them when my orders are enough to give me free shipping. Otherwise I might as well be buying them local. Unless you decide to buy a case of course. They are easy on the fingers, long lasting and they sound amazing. I use medium gauge as I find the light ones to be a bit too fine for my playing but of course that is your own preference. I play a lot live but I do a lot of busking also and the lights would break all the time when buking due to harder playing and varying temperature (I live in Ireland).
In my opinion the best strings
I have very sweaty hands and normal strings tend to rust within the weak so I have to use coated ones. To me Elixir strings sound and feel the best, very brilliant sound and slide easily.
Worth the money?
I like the feel and sound of these strings and they are lasting well. If you change strings a lot then Elixir strings may save you money in the long run due to the extra longevity.
sounds better, lasts longer
I used to use another well known brand of strings, but since someone suggested these I use these all the time. They last so much longer, and to my ears they sound better (although that's just personal preference).
I bought these for my Taylor 310ce, they are the same strings Taylor shipped stock on that guitar. They are quite thick and have a lot of tension to them, I struggle to to perform a full step bend with these on the 2nd fret on the G string, but they produce a strong and thick tone with strummed open chords. The tension they provide ensures the guitar always stays in tune, even when played aggressively. I tried a few other string manufacturers & gauges on this particular guitar, but I encountered intonation problems with those and eventually I reverted to using Elixir strings once again. These strings last quite a long time and don't corrode easily. There is a reason Taylor ship Elixir strings as standard on their guitars! Highly recommended, especially for dreadnought steel string acoustics.
The "Elixir Nanoweb Medium Phosphor Bronze" Strings are awesome.
I tried many many different strings and most of them loose their brilliance (especially the wounded strings) after a few hours of playing.
The Elixir's are different. They keep their brilliance for months. They sound great and they are really worth the money.
I use this set on my K. Yairi mostly for street music and with this guitar they sound very loud and full and it sounds very very good and well balanced. Even some drop/ open tunings (drop D, DADGAD, Open C ) are no problem.
I always use Elixir-Strings an i am very happy with them.
Still like new
I have had mine on for 3 years now and people still ask if the strings are brand new when they test my guitar.
Now of course you can actually see the wear on the strings and if you go in for it you can feel the grooves as well.
But still they are still in a rather good condition. The strings have been on on multiple gigs and parties so it is not a lack of usage.
I can't really say if the sound quality has degraded or if the strings are worse than any other brand because there is no one with the same guitar in my surrounding for comparison. And as soon as you change strings you get a new sound, maybe better, maybe no but it is new.
I will buy the same strings again!
