A great bass guitar

This beautiful bass plays like a dream. The quality of the build, the set up and the finish is second to none. My only reservation is the lack of variety of sound. If you want to sound like Lemmie you need to look elsewhere.

A copletely unique instrument

Bought this because I am a huge Gov't Mule and Allman bros fan and wanted to see what Woody and Epiphone had come up with. First thing that you notice with this bass is that it really isn't meant for finger style playing. It's doable, but the construction and pickup placement make it a lot more comfortable when played with a pick. And tonewise it really lends itself to pick playing with a nice woody (pun intended), punchy tone. When played with fingers it sounds a bit too muffled and muddy and not in a good, James Jamerson kind of way. Sounds really great with slight overdrive or fuzz on top, but definately not a bass for metal playing. Really good for blues, country and lighter rock styles. You also won't be slapping on this bass, so not a good choice for funk players. Build quality is solid. The bridge could be more substantial (it's the same three point bridge they put on cheaper thunderbirds), but it does the job. Finish is beutiful. IF you want a do-everything kind of bass, this probably isn't the best choice, but if you are already equiped with a jazz bass, this would be a great addition to you collection!

I bought this bass on spec alone, and fortunately all the facts on paper do add up to what I'd hoped! The short scale, mahogany woods, hollow body, and old school humbuckers placed further towards the neck all point to a smooth, rich, and deep tone, which manifests itself very nicely in this instrument. The overall voice is well suited to 60's pop and early 70's rock, and while the stock strings are a nice match, I anticipate a set of flat-wounds emphasizing the point even further. The neck is slimmer than some, but not problematically so, and that is coming from someone used to playing 5 string basses!

This finishing of the instrument is not as flawless as some online reviews had given me to expect, but only on very close inspection- overall it is a very handsome bass, and I am very fond of the sound it produces. Not an all rounder perhaps, but for certain tones, most satisfactory!

RUMBLEKAT! Good name for it, it has like a pure bass sound. Not designed to pick any highs out so if you are into slap, don't order one.

I read every review going and asked questions. I agree with what I was told by other owners. It is advertised as a semiacoustic but you cant really use it as one, it just means its hollow bodied. It is neck heavy but not a problem. I am used to strat like contoured bodies so the top curve digs into my arm a bit, i need to change the way i hold the instrument, Les Pauls do it to me too.

Some reviewers said they would like a pick up selector switch, I don't see the need for one, I rarely change my sound and the difference between pickups is not great anyway.

Hardware seems good but I have had the bass only a short time so only done a couple of gigs so far. I can always post back if I come across a problem.

This is a beautiful looking instrument, very well made, has a unique sound that I love, it is probably not what you would call a versatile bass. It does one thing really well and that is that deep pure bass tone.

One other thing, you buy this bass and you will stand out from the crowd.

Hey! its 300€ plus about another 80€ for a custom fitted case, Its a gift. I just paid 218€ for a pickup for my acoustic. Its a steal, do the maths!
