Great product

I only used this for awhile to be honest because it didn't fit what I was looking for. But when I did use it however, it definitely works great. The only problem I have with it is probably the weight and a bit clunky to bring around. If you're muscular this probably won't be an issue though.

Good speakers. Value

Good value here. Sound decent. Plenty power for a small gig or rehearsal room. Some cool features with the DSP.

Great sound but wished the cover wasn't plastic

This speaker has a great sound! But the the main con I have is that it has a plastic cover!

I recommend it but I also strongly advise to not put it to too much of a fight, a minimum hit and it will easily leave a mark on the cover of the speaker. A price to pay for it's sound and price I guess!

Very Clear

I use a couple for DJing with subs and stand alone for some speeches. It's not the loudest speakers but have enough power to cover 150 persons. The mids / mids-high of this speaker are impressive. Highs are clear , lows are typical for 12'' woofer. I think are the best recommented uses for me are DJing , Speeches and voice monitor.

Pros

+Very clear sound

+DSP / limiter

+Light / easy to carry

+Very good construction quality

Cons

I'd like a little more power

Excellent at the price range

An excellent speaker at the price range along with the assurance of a great brand like EV. I bought it to use for sometimes as a monitor for the band I am in but also are using it for small duo gigs with drum machine/acoustic guitar / double bass and 2 mics. I am using this as my main PA speaker along with a The box MA120 cheaper monitor on the floor. It sound very good especially compared to the monitor, the detail and width of sound is obvious. It should be as its more than double the price, I'm sure there are much better powered speakers but they also will be double the price of the EV.

As the EV has a built in Limiter it took a while to balance my full mix to not trigger the limiter to kick in on the speaker. Keeping every signal around Unity did the trick in the end, the result though is a good sound but not huge volume. However there is more than enough volume for say a small bar of 100 plus people. I think adding a second top and a sub will give better headroom for volume. I also tried it to playback music from a laptop and then an iphone with great results also a pub DJ would be delighted. The onboard DSP is a great useful feature which lets you select your usage as well as E.Q options available to you. There is a small bit of background hiss at higher volumes but staying below 0db will minimize this to nothing. So in general I'm very happy with it and will be buying a second one soon.

EV ZLX 12P

Have used a pair of these for over a year now and my overall opinion is very good. Not as powerful as the ELX series which must be down to the plastic case as I'm informed that the internal components are the same. Lots of input options with basic EQ and also a cross over facility if you're using them with Subs. Push them too hard and the limiter will kick in, but the compressed sound isn't too noticeable, and after all it's there to protect your drivers and amp. Handling is really good, nice and light, (I'm not a big bloke but I can easily carry one in each hand) and the handles are great. Everything feels nice and solid. I bought the EV covers which fit tightly and have kept the speakers looking good. Overall, at this price, these are a good buy and I would recommend them.

Fantastic speakers

Use 2 of these for live vocals and guitar (through my Kemper) in a rock covers band.

Vocals are clear and the guitar punches through the mix. Plenty of headroom but I have tickled the limiter on the odd occasion!

Used with music these sound powerful - lots of tight bass and clear treble and mid.

Amazing speaker for the price.

I am very impressed with these at this price bracket.

Very reasonable sound, well balanced for vocals and acoustic instruments.

I eq out a little top end but then I prefer a more natural sound.

Having two inputs that can handle non-phantom mics, jack inputs from guitars or keyboards and line level make them suitable for performers who need a very small footprint (such as a musician at a wedding ceremony). Keyboardist would benefit from the 15" version to handle the lower notes effectively in that situation.

Of course having a preamp and some eq/reverb ahead of the speaker inputs would always be better but not essential in this case.

Recently used these as the only amplification for an outdoor event (beer garden) they handled acoustic guitars and vocals very well up to the acoustic level of a hard hitting rock drummer. Also worked great for an electric guitarist who plugged his pedal board straight into my desk.

They emit quite a lot of sound through the sides which could be beneficial for any small groups who cannot afford monitors as they will hear quite a lot of themselves through the side of the speaker!

Good for the money!

Got this powered speaker as a monitor for our wedding band. It has great easy to us features, nice simple bass/treble control, which should be a standard in all powered speakers, the two XLR/1/4" Jack Mic/Line Inputs are great. The handles are well located and nice and easy to transport. It's a great looking speaker and it is very light, but unfortunately, because of it's lightness it has a tendency to rumble at higher volumes, so I would not recommend using this speaker if its high volume your looking for. The sound quality does tend to drop the higher the volume. We've gone back to using our KME passive monitor for live shows!

EV ZLX 12P

I purchased a pair of these to use with my Korg workstation and they are really excellent. The response is good across the whole range and used with a small mixer with FX provide a first class tool!
