Great value! Loud amp.

I got this for home use. The sound is good. I use it will my acoustic my ST style, my semi hollow and my U-bass and they all sound great. I love the versatility with the different amp sounds and effects. After buying a Katana 100 MKII I had to change my review of the Champion 100. It is hard to describe, but the tonal qualities of the Campion just doesn't hold up to other amps and for basically the same price one can get a Katana with many more options.

Pros: great value and good sound. I can't compare it with a valve amp but it was under 300 so you can't compare it with a 1500 amp. It has an effects loop. This is one of the main reasons I bought it.

Cons: it is a bit heavy. You won't want to be dragging this amp around with you from place to place. It is a shame that you can't mix effects.

Nice amp

I use this amp for playing guitar solo. It is very practical in a way that got the channels with a foot-switch that comes with a cable that is long enough to use it on little longer distances from amp or maybe from little heights.

It has plenty of effects that can be reduced with button or completly turn off on amp or with foot-switch during music and specially the gain channel has enough options to play different styles.

It also has a phones mini-jack output and mini-jack aux input that serves very well also to play along music.

Both channels got a frequency sets, high and low on clean channel and high, mid and low on the gain that also can be set.

It has no output or recording output soever.

The amp is also strong enough to play outside and open space.

The best!!!

The best amp! I had a Marshall jcm and jvm and Fender 65twin reverb and supersonic22. So I know what I'm talking about.

Fender Champion 100

Recently I bought another Fender Champion 100 (Guitar amp not Bass), having already replaced all my old fender 212 amps since 2014,

These amps have being used in both indoor and outdoor venues and like anything else, you need to have good quality covers which help to prevent any damage to the unit when in transit, also when switching on or off, it is important to check that the volume knobs are always turned down, and always using a circuit breaker. Now getting back to the fx on the champion 100, you get a good accurate clean honest sound and a great variety of fx to cover all aspects of music styles, and so easy to use for the novice as well, and another great factor is how well built and so solid these units are with solid pots and knobs. These amps are loud enough to use in a live gig situation and sound really great when linked to a pa system,

These amps are also great value for money and can also handle a lot of heavy use, I cant praise these amps enough. definitely value for money.

Not the best handling.

I play classical guitar most of the time, but for gigs with my band I play my Fender Bullet strat and this is the first combo I bought for gigs and practicing. For me there is a very big problem with this combo - It's really heavy.

This combo doesn't have a big amp, but It really sounds powerfull, because of the two 12" special design speakers. I think that Fender made a great thing with the power quality on this one. It's enough from small rooms to concert halls.

But it's not always about power, and that's why this combo can be loud when it needs to be, yet still offers a soft and beautiful tone when dialed down, making it the ideal practice amp for the discerning musician or amateur gigger.

I'm okay with the look of this combo. It's sort of Classic - Vintage Appeal.

This product is also simple to use and versatile enough for any style of guitar playing, there's a Champion amp that's right for you whether you?re looking for your first practice amp or affordable stage gear. The 100-watt, dual-channel Champion 100 features two 12" speakers, with great amp voices and effects that make it easy to dial up just the right sound?from jazz to country, blues to metal and more.

But going back to the problems - It is really heavy and I think that for young players It may be a problem If they are buying this not just for practicing in one place. I recommend everybody to think about the conditions of using this product before buying.

All in all - this is a proper product in proper situations.

Great amp for the money

I use this amp both for rehearsals and gigs, and for the money you pay for it, it definitely delivers. Being a solid-state, 100 watts, 2x12 amp, I find the quality of the sound to be surprisingly good. It's got two channels, both with built-in digital effects, which you can dial in with the twist of a knob. The first channel emulates Fender Blackface's clean tone, and I must say I am truly impressed by it. The second channel has 16 selectable different amp voicings, ranging from Fender Tweeds, Blackfaces, and even British-voiced and Metal amps. However, I find the overdriven sound of the amp to be a bit boxy, but it's not that big of a deal because I prefer having my "dirt" come from pedals (which BTW the amp takes really well). I have had the Champion 100 for 6 months now, and it shows absolutely no signs of wear: it's robust and well built, and it's also quite light (18.5 kgs) for an amp this size. Overall, I'm very happy with it, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for great tone on a small budget.

Big sound for little money!

I had this amp for about 4 months now, and I like it, especially at this price! It is certainly not the amp of my dreams, but you can't always get what you want. Yet, you do get what you need!

Let me tell you though that I am a little biased in favor of Fender amps traditionally, I will not go for anything other than a Fender Amp ever (save for maybe a top of the line Mesa Boogie if I could afford any rig I wanted one day) Also, I play mostly rhythm guitar lately in my band and we do rock, blues based rock, and some blues.

The clean channel, as mentioned in reviews by others, is Fender clean. It does not have the crunch of tube amps of course, but it is very nice and jazzy, and can bring up "some" crunch through a good guitar turned up loud with quality pick-ups (and I have been using just that lately, a Gibson SG)

If you are on the clean channel and the effects are turned on, effect type set to reverb with effect level around 5, it is already a super nice sound! Although this means that the other built in effects become unavailable on the channel, which is a bit of a bummer.. if the reverb function was independent, one of the other effects could also be available simultaneously such as chorus, or tremolo, or delay or whatever..

But then again, those who want more effects could go for the very similar Fender Mustang for the same price. I personally am a strictly plug and play guy with very minimal effects, such as a Wahwah, and a chorus pedal at times, and I sure am not into modeling amps which sounds iffy (I have my computer and software to fool around with that if need be, without needing an amp with built-in digital gizmo) Plus I do not see myself punching in modeling codes into the Mustang while I am gigging!

Then there is the second channel, with adjustable gain, and few amp voicings of different amps, simulation of Fender and other amp styles, some of which sounds interestingly good. I like the tweed setting which gives it an almost tube-like crunch on leads. So in fact there is a slight modeling concept preset built into this amp in that sense, however it is kept to a minimum. I was originally looking to get a 60 W Frontman, which is similar to this amp, but with spring reverb, and no effects built-in, though it is now discontinued and replaced by the champion series.

There is also good overdrive possibilities on the second channel. I am not a metal shredder at all, but when I was fooling around with the settings in my rehearsal studio where I keep the amp for the moment, I was able to get good distortion, with the gain turned up and amp voicing set to metal.

Overall, this is a really good purchase for the price. And it has a huge, loud sound with the two awesome 12 inch speakers carrying through 100 big watts. It is even too loud to be honest! And it is taking me a little while to get used to the knobs, and the settings as their visibility is NOT so great. I must also mention that the WEIGHT is a positive factor here, for such a huge loud sound at 18,5 kg. it is indeed pretty efficient. As some of you might already know, weight can be a bigger burden than one thinks with each kilo beyond 20 or so start weighing a lot more than what it is.

I would recommend it to anyone who is on a tight budget, and who loves that Fender sound, and who needs a strong power rig for gigging any size venue, even with a strong drummer pounding away. I was thinking that when I get a better Fender tube rig eventually, such as a Hotrod Deluxe, or a Blues Junior, I could sell the Champion 100 second hand to save some money, but not anymore! I am keeping this one!

I must admit I have not been able to use this amp at a gig yet, because for the last few gigs we did with my band, very nice equipment was already set up for us on location, so we did not need to drag our own rig over. But I am confident that the Champion 100 will hold up pretty good at our upcoming gigs where we WILL have to haul our own equipment, judging from its powerhouse performance in the studio during the last four months!

With a nice guitar hooked up, and the included foot switch, you are set to rock on with this amp! Just fiddle with it, and get the hang of the knobs, buttons, and settings, and find your OWN voice on it before taking it on the road, as I have been trying to do. Because this amp can sound way beyond its relatively small price with the right individual settings for your music, whether it is jazz, blues, rock, or reggae...

Gig worthy clean channel

This beefy combo is a great addition to an amp stable as a backup for a working guitarist. Granted, the overdrive settings and distortion settings are ok to mess around with but not that great for gigging, but the clean channel! Well it's awesome as a base for pedals. As a solid state combo it's light (relative to valve amps) and is great for chucking in the back of the car for band practice and is a great backup amp.

The clean channel is honestly very close to a clean valve amp although you won't get pushed overdrive from it, but that's what pedals are for. If you want an amp which breaks up then this isn't for you. But for a backup amp and as a base for pedals its a really good amp and great for those gigs where you don't want to take you're half stack!

Fender

As a solid state, this amp is fine, but compared to a tube amp, you can feel the difference. My little tube amp, which is only 1 watt, sounds much better than this, especially in overdrive or metal sound. And I use an overdrive pedal on both of them. I am going to buy a 50 watt amptube which is a little more expensive than this. As for the Champion 100, I am in doubt to sell it or hold as a backup amp.

Really Good Value

We bought this for the lead guitar in the band as we needed something at a budget price that looked and sounded OK.

It really is a very good amp. I know all about the valves v. tranny amp debate but things have moved on from the 1970s and today you get excellent sound, good volume and nice build quality. The Champion is hard to beat even with amps costing much more. Fender do take their amp build seriously and have put some effort into getting this model right.

If you, like us, are on a bit of a budget then this will not let you down. It looks the business and sounds perfectly OK.

Great little solid state amp

This is a great little amp for this price range. We have it in a rehearsal room where its getting used by a variety of different bands, metal, punk, pop whatever on a daily basis, and its got nothing but positive feedback. Although, we've only had it a couple of months its showing no sign of wear and tear yet which is a good sign! Tone-wise, the clean channel is standard solid state fender, its nice but I wouldn't be recording with it. The second channel has different amp simulators but wouldn't replace a good overdrive pedal for me. The effects dial means you can only have one effect on at a time which is a bit limiting - a second reverb dial would be nice. Overall, it looks cool, and is perfect for a practice/small gig environment, maybe not for recording!

Champion

Great value for money, not too far away from the sound of a Fender twin. I like it a lot.

Great for jazz guitar.

Fender Champ 100

Great rugged amp that can withstand knocks in any live situation, with a strong carry handle its also very easy to carry around from transport to the venue.

With such a low sound this amp is great for playing all types of music from blues to metal, as its eq controls are easily accessible to adjust to the players preference.

I love the FX dial that has many of useful FX from a wah filter to delay to reverb, they are easy to toggle with the provided foot switch and easy to control with the FX level dial.

The different OD models really help this amp sound just they way you want it to sound, from it simulating a Blackface to Tweed or from Jazz to British Distortion.

For anyone starting to gig on a regular basis, look further as this amp is perfect for anyone playing in pubs or in small-medium venues.

Amp Review

Hay!

Here is a review of this amp.

When it come home, i was shocked. In picture it looks not so big, but when i open the box.. It was in my mind: OMG this is huge. And yes.. I plugged him in the power. And then here we go:

About 1st channel:

- very nice Fender Style clean sound. And all of effect just for clean channel. This is so crazy. I really like the WAH WAH effect, because it sounds very easy, very great for funk. I also really like reverb, because when you play for example Nothing Else Matthers with FX Level: 10 it sounds amazing.

- All other things you would know when you buy it and use it.

About 2nd channel:

-This Brittish Style in 2nd channel is very good with gain between 7 and 8. It sounds like Rolling stones.

-Metal style: very nice and heavy sound, for your riffs .

For the end: You should buy it, because is very nice, good power (100W) and sound it just gorgeous.

Very good amp

This amp is my first "big" amp so I don't have mutch to compare to. But I can honestly say that the sound of this amp is very powerfull and because of the effects you can have fun playing around with it. I enjoy the fact that there is two channels and you can choose different sounds on bouth side but I would like this even more if there would be a mid-control on both channels. Anyway the footswitch that is included in tge package is perfect on my opinion; simpple and easy to use, just like the amp itself: it doesn't require you to be a rocket scientist to get a unique sound out of this.

Compact and powerful

Plenty of options, eliminates the need of so many external effects. Sounds great even at 90% volume. Equally good for my acoustics collection and for electric range I have. I have chosen this one after having chance to test 3 other makesin the same power range
