Marcus Miller M7 5st TBL 2nd Gen

Already passed 1 year since I bought it. for those planning to buy it , IMO is an awesome bass! i have try many basses but liked the M7 the most. You can choose to play in single coil, parallel or series. Moreover you choose what mid frequency you like the most. its a 35" scale bass so remember to buy the appropriate strings for it. One time I have buy string for 34" basses and they do not fit in the M7. :) the sire M7 is affected a bit by temperature changes. you will need to check the set up maybe 3/4 times a year ( depend where you live ) . for the tuners...it stays on tune. there is the option to play with string through body or on top... before having this bass I did't know that it makes a difference. they affect the feel and the sound. if you top load your string its a...
Ibanez TMB35-MGR Talman Short Scale

The quality of the material and craftsmanship is really nice. The width of the neck broadens towards the body, increasing the distance among the strings and improving playability up to the pickup zone. The pickup's gain is very good, and the tone is bright and sounds good even without a preamp. The sustain in the bass band is not what you would expect from a long scale, but it's okay. The mint color is pale, just as expected, and the look is very nice. The weight is much less than that of a long scale, and this, alongside the short scale, makes it more energy-efficient for people with small hands like me. A really minor detail is a very small dent in the pickup holes, about 2mm long, but it's not a really big deal. The fret finishing is a little sharp along the neck, but...

Some additional specs: - neck profile is D shape - nut width 43mm - string spacing at bridge is 18 mm - hardware color is dark chrome not black - comes with D'addario XL170 5SL super long scale strings according to Yamaha FAQ Pickups They look like humbuckers but they are in fact hum canceling single coils. The polepieces are on the bridge side on both pickups. Preamp The electronics are dead silent, no audible hiss. The output is normal but can get very hot with EQ boosting. The EQ is very versatile, each knob can add or cut very much to the tone. It seems to work best with strings that have been played a few weeks. I wish the treble knob cut a bit more, even at minimum you can still hear the brightness of the strings. It would have been nice to have an active/passive switch. Battery...
Yamaha TRBX 505 TBN

The build quality and finish on this bass are excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending. There is a very good variety of sound options in terms of active and passive switch and tone controls, and the pickups are a very good standard, giving a somewhat modern bass sound. The thickness of the neck made it for me very playable, although I did have to lower the action slightly, but of course set up is a personal preference. The general construction feels very robust, and I would expect this to last well in normal usage. I am going to experiment with different strings when I get a chance, as of course the low B string is always a bit of a compromise on 5-string bass guitars, this yamaha is not worse than others in this respect.

That translucent finish is so good, the feeling is smooth and warm and I really like the fact that you can see the wood inside. The black finish I have in the sunlight looks brown and I really like that! The fret edges could be a bit better. Not such a problem but you could catch your fluffy shirt sleeve. B is excellent with no buzz and it generally plays like a charm. The inlays must be mother of pearl or something they look great! Hardware and electronics work fine and look high quality. 4 star quality only for the frets.

As soon as I received my bass, I pulled it out of the box (very well packed and protected), tuned up, and plugged in. I was so surprised and thrilled with the way this bass sounded without any other setup. The neck is very smooth and easy to play, not to mention the coloring is gorgeous. Electronics work fine, pickups sound good, but have slightly lower output than some of my other basses. Then again, the moment I kicked on the same EQ and cab sim pedal I use with everything else, it sounded alive. I will say, using my fuzz and wah created some extra noise for the first time, though I haven't tested if that's something with the bass or the pedal. For that reason, and the somewhat weaker output, I'll drop my sound rating down just a hair. More than anything, I'm thrilled this bass...

I had this instrument for about 2 years now. Prior to buying this bass i did a lot of research to find not only the best quality my money could buy, but also a sound that i like. Eventually i came across this one. Many people recommended it, yet, i rarely listen to others. After watching a lot of reviews and people playing it, i came to the conclusion that this is the bass for me. My opinion: After playing it for 2 years now, i can say im in love with the sound of it. Im mainly using it trough the Parallax plugin. From clear, to punchy jazz, to distorted metal, i always found a sound that works for me. Great tone, surprisingly great sustain (for ash wood) and the on board eq is good. The quality of the finish and wood is beyond what i ever owned. The first time i laied hands on it i went...

I'm aware that if I start including other brand names in this review it won't be cleared to post. That said, it is no secret that the manufacturer of this mighty fine example of their well known work is of VALUE! I'm totally loving everything about this bass. The top is a thicker layer of Burl Poplar with beautiful lines carved into the edges for a binding kind of look like I've never seen. The hardware is also awesome. Thanks for the stock MK1 Bartolini Pickups. Another good choice. One more thing and I'll let you be. This bass required very little set up out of the box. I truly am unable to say that about most of even the highest end basses that I have purchased.

I was looking for a 5 string to make it easier to hold down the low end in keys like Eb, D and C# when I came across a video from the BassTheWorld guys on this bass. Great channel and you should check out there review of this instrument - it very much echoes my own thoughts on this bass. The electronics are astoundingly good and do so many different sounds well. The construction is also top class and the feel of the instrument in my hands lives up to and possibly exceeds my MIA Fender jazz which comes at a considerably higher price tag. I will admit that another user reported the bridge being unsatisfactory for getting the B string to intonate. Yest this is a really problem, though somewhat exaggerated in the other review. With my B string being set as far as possible from the neck, it is...
Marcus Miller M7 Swamp Ash 5st NT 2nd Gen

Before Sire M7 5 string 2nd gen Swamp Ash I had Yamaha BB425 5 string passive PJ, which was really good as a starting point. What I lack in that BB is the clarity and crispness in highs for slapping. It's not that I use slap in my rock cover band, but for home experimenting and to have fun, I was missing that crispness. Now with M7 I have tons of tones. Just for the first time connected already experienced a lot of joy. Now should try more with more gear. Will see how it will perform at gig in a month. Upd 1: amazing amount of tones! 2 pickups, 3 modes each, any mix of them, active eq, passive tone, B string sounds great. I love this bass! UPD 2: gig was postponed, will add impression during first several months of practice and rehearsals. Due to sharp fret edges gave 4/5 for quality....
