Sturdy and confortable

I really needed a throne with a back rest and this one was a perfeect choice. Although i would like to add that tall people might have the rest too low for them even if it is set in the max height. Still, i have a tall friend that didn't complain about that and i feel like i can play for longer without my back starting to complain. I recommend

Compact studio chair

I don't use this throne for drumming, but as an all-purpose studio chair. It has a small footprint and breaks down compactly if needed. The foot is super sturdy and well made. Quite heavy, but that also gives a sense of secure sitting.

The seat is OK, but not as refined as the seat of the dome stool (Gibraltar 9608D), which I also have. The cloth is a little more "sandpapery" than the dome's cloth, which has a very nice feel to it. But it is by far not as "sharp" as the velvet used by Tama. The metal support plate of the 9608MB is a little more crude in finishing quality than the very nice support cross underneath the dome seat of the 9608D. The shape of the saddle seat is suitable for all-purpose sitting and at the same time is rather compact, especially compared to normal seats. So when space is limited in your studio room (or control room) this one will be a good model to consider.

The back rest is adjustable up and down and back and forth. I wish it could be moved a little more forward (and as a result less far backwards), but the range of adjustment seems to be chosen for people with a fat arse. Still, to lean back the backrest is pretty OK.

Very important to me is that a seat does not make any noises when moving your weight on it (for recording purposes). Since all adjustments can be firmly fixed this chair does not give a squeek.
