Harley Benton HB-35Plus Metallic Plum

Harley Benton HB-35Plus Metallic Plum

Instead of "Introduction, rationale, conclusion", here's a review by the main areas that compose it: Binding and colour - just beautiful, no spots, blemishes and smooth on the touch Body - Great weight. The first string was touching the bridge on the back side, so I had to raise the tailpiece. Do not want to overwrap because of gold colour which will be scratched. Neck - bought this guitar together with CST-24 and I own a Player Strat. The neck is chunkier than both, but it has a nice shape and it doesn't bother me. The CST-24 has a larger fretboard radius, but the neck is slimmer and easier to wrap around on the top three frets. Fretboard - pau ferro, the darkest variety (compares well with the Strat), initially quite dry and needed oiling. Very smooth on the touch, inlays...

Duesenberg Starplayer TV Black

Duesenberg Starplayer TV Black

Based on 5 reviews

I wanted to buy a guitar that I wouldn't pay £500 just for the logo on the headstock. I looked into it and I found that Duesenberg has been producing high quality products and when I asked around, the few people that knew about Duesenberg said the best comments about that company. I've watched some videos online and read bout them more and when I finally bought my Starplayer TV Black, I wasn't disappointed. This is by far the best guitar I've ever played with in all the years I've been playing guitar. The sound is just amazing, the pickups sound so good and the body and the shape is just perfect. The neck, although the guitar is kinda LP shape, feels more like a strat neck, but a lot easier to play on and the Tremolo system (bigsby) is so good, it doesn't even go out of tune...

Epiphone Casino Worn Blue Denim

Epiphone Casino Worn Blue Denim

This is the 2nd M-i-C Casino I have owned, but the difference is remarkable. The really cool 'Worn Denim' finish was part of the attraction, but I was even more delighted upon receipt (which was very rapid). The set-up was nigh-on perfect - I could easily adjust the action to my pleasing and following a change of strings to my preferred gauge, it was good to go; the intonation was spot-on. The 'silk' finish makes for a very comfortable feel and more defined than the deep gloss poly finish sometimes applied to less expensive guitars. The new Casino sports CTS pots which make a big difference - you can retain better tone at lower PU volumes. Epiphone's 'dog-ear' P90s have a high output provide a wide selection of sounds. I play blues, jazz and swing and can honestly say that this...

Guild Starfire V w/Bigsby

Guild Starfire V w/Bigsby

Based on 4 reviews

The guitar is stunning, let's get that out of the way. I had played both the starfire III and IV in a local shop and loved both, but this SFV exceeded my expectations in terms of feel, stability and attention to detail. From my experience, the Newark street guitars are among the best in their price range. They are not cheap, but you feel and hear the quality. Pros: - looks - clear, articulate pickups - the finish, the tall frets, the bigsby, the inlays, the the dot markers on the knobs are all part of what makes this instrument so special - The neck width and depth - incredible sustain Cons: - yellow cover on pickup switch: looks off to me, swapped for a cream coloured tip from my sorrento - floating bridge - bit heavy for a semi hollow guitar (mahogany...) Highly recommended

Epiphone ES-335 Figured Blueberry Burst

Epiphone ES-335 Figured Blueberry Burst

I'm a huge fan of Epiphone due to their pricing and what you get for that price. People will say, you get what you pay for. True, this is no 4000 euro guitar, but for me, it works. Playability is great. Sound is even and defined through all three switch settings. I'm playing through a Boss Katana 100 Mk2 212 and the possibilities with the guitar and amp combo leaves me much satisfied. My only complaint about the guitar was a binding issue on the top side of the first fret. I had to have it sanded down. It was poorly installed. It is smooth enough now and there is no appearance defect. No influence on the playability either. Overall, this is my go-to E-guitar. It's a heavy beast, but worth it for the sound. Highly recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a 335 at a great price.

Yamaha SA2200BS

I've been looking for a 335-style guitar and I've always been very happy with Yamaha instruments so this one looked like a good choice. In my experience Yamaha deliver excellent value in every price range and their top of the range Made in Japan series are always superb so my expectations were high. Short version: This guitar is quite simply outstanding. I honestly don't understand how Yamaha can sell such an amazing instrument at such a reasonable price. Sure, it's expensive but we're way into boutique/custom shop quality here. I work at a guitar workshop so I handle a LOT of guitars and I can honestly say that this is one of the best guitars I've ever laid my hands on. Of course we all have different taste in guitars. You obviously don't buy this guitar if you want a Strat or a...

Gretsch G5420T-140 Electromatic PP

Gretsch G5420T-140 Electromatic PP

Received this beauty as an anniversary gift from my wife and daughters. As I unpacked I was blown away by the beautiful workmanship. Excellent two tone paint.,sparking white pearl top and blue sparking back, nice looking bind ,even in to the “f”holes, anniversary logo….Tuners, works smooth, all the hardware is well matched.Fret work is perfect, frets are polished, with rounded ends. The guitar needed minor tuning of the neck and the attack, but for an instrument just taken out of the box, I think it is normal. Connected to the Bugera V22 tube amp, sounds nice, ringing, with sweetness, in the clean channel. On the overdrive, it has what I want Brian Setzer sound. The pickups are not “hot” as a Gibsons but they have that specific Gretsch tone that I like.Bigsby...

Epiphone ES-335 Cherry

I have been playing this guitar for 3 weeks now (since when this review was written) and I have had little to no problems with it. It genuinely is a really good guitar and fits what I needed perfectly. The fat neck feels great and is even all the way down and around the guitar, I find that it is easy to glide my hand up and down the fretboard along with the lacquer finish being very even and smooth. Even if my hand becomes sweaty the neck is still very comfortable to play on. Tuning and intonation operate perfectly also. The only cons I can associate with the guitar is that there is a slight scratchy sound and feel when trying to bend on the low three strings (E A and D). I resolved this problem by polishing the frets and applying some lemon oil to the fretboard however and now the guitar...

Hagstrom ´67 Viking II WCT

Hagstrom ´67 Viking II WCT

This is my first semi hollow so I dont have a lot of comparison, I was first looking at the Hagstrom Alvar but then the look of the 67 Viking caught my eye, I wanted something very different than my main main solid body equipped with humbuckers, so this semi hollow with mini humbuckers seemed like a good idea. I was not able to find one in any shop so I had to order it without trying it. When I received it and opened the box, the first impression was "wow it's so classy" with this nice red and golden finish, I started strumming unplugged and it's louder than one of my acoustic guitar ! Then I plugged it in my amp, the clean sound is so good with a lost of sustain, I have a preference for the neck and middle position, when you add some gain it's getting very bluesy, I have...

Maton BB1200JH Josh Homme

Maton BB1200JH Josh Homme

I took a little while before deciding upon this guitar and tried some models from the more well known headstock brigades....glad I waited. Absolutely blown away straight out of the case...beautifully appointed, easy string changes on the gorgeous trapeze bridge, great neck, smooth frets, split coils, a great looking guitar and you can feel the balance and quality of the build as soon as you strap yourself in. Crystal cleans on the splits and nice growl on buckers straight to amp (even on solid state amps...honestly) and different stratosphere when played on your board....fuzz, distortions, reverbs, modulators and delays all coped with and no feedback or howling issues. I know it's a fair bit of money but I guarantee you will be really surprised at how versatile this guitar is.....I...
