Harley Benton B-450 QTB Progressive Serie Reviews
perfect gift
Bought as a gift for a new bass player and they loved it!
Surprisingly good
Didn't expect too much at this price but boy was I wrong, sounds great, looks amazing and does everything just as well as my other "named" brands, nice and well balanced, very easy to play.
Bass guitar
Realy good bass guitar and the price is very good. Nice finishing.
Very Pleased!
Very pleased. Beautiful finish, great pickup options and overall versatility. Plays like a dream!
Good bass guitar for a beginner
Bought this for my wife as her first bass guitar. She likes it very much. It looks good sounds good and feels good to play. Even her teacher tried playing this instrument and said that for this money it is amazing and sounds really good. It is possible to achieve many different kinds of tones by turning the knobs. The only complaint she had is that there is no instructions on what the knobs do.
Amazing, especially considering it's an entry level instrument
I purchased this as a gift for a 10-year-old girl who became obsessed with bass after watching Maneskin's bass player. It arrived today and I wanted to test it out before presenting it to her.
I couldn't put it down! It plays really well and the tone is very versatile. I love that it has a passive/active option, which adds even more breadth to the tonal palette.
The hardware looks pretty solid too.
P.S. I've been playing bass for nearly 30 years, and I have some pretty high-end basses. I could definitely see myself taking this to a gig.
Harley Benton B-450 QTB
Nice bass, action was a bit high and there was a pinhole in the finish but for $147 how can you complain!!!
Beginner
Bought this as a total noob in the way of bass
Looked up the features and liked the style etc
I love it!
Amazing bass
The quality is awesome!
OK for the price...
I don't understand the reviewers that claim using this bass in professional situations. The bass plays fine, but the sound is not a good tone from the stock pickups/electronics. They sound quite harsh to my ears. As far as finish, I'm sure it's a photo top and they almost could of gone full out black as the translucent finish is so dark you can barely see the faux wood grain. With sound being high on my criteria, I ended up selling it. Playability was fine though.
Good value for monney
I bought this bass in december 2020. I'm a guitarist and use bass for demos recording.
Very good purchase for this purpose. I can mention plastic bridge as minus, because it always gets out of tune a littlle bit.
I llike how it sounds, very fat and rich low end especcially in low tunnings. All in all, this is very good workhorse.
It is worth every penny.
Well, I'm new to music and this is my first bass guitar, so don't be too harsh.
In reality, the red is not so noticeable, but it still looks pretty darn good. Sits in her hands like a glove. Active sensors work as expected.
Delivered safe and sound, not a single scratch, but I came with an unfinished truss rod, I had to suffer trying to figure out how to do it.
I would also like to see the instructions for the switch since it is very difficult for a person who did not deal with guitars to figure out what is responsible for what.
In general, it is worth every penny.
An amazing bass for such a low price.
I bought a Harley Benton B-450 QTB about a year ago.
Disclaimer: If you want the short version there is a pros and cons section, as well as a summary at the end.
Packaging and Delivery
First of all, it was really well packaged with multiple boxes and that kind of fancy stuff. If I remember correctly, it took two weeks to deliver to Athens with DHL, but nowadays with UPS it took about five working days in a period when every greek courrier was pretty much stuck. So, in terms of delivery, you shouldn't have any problem. The condition it arrived in would have been perfect, but unfortunately a screw had been unscrewed from one of the magnets. It was really easy to put it back with a screwdriver, but I believe this is something worth mentioning. Apart from that, it did not required any setup at all.
Sound
It has a decent sound even out of the box, but after you change it's strings it really start to glow up. I have tried multiple settings with different amps and pedals and I personally prefer passive pickups with some distortion. I have recorded some metal and rock with it and I have to admit that I was surprised by the sound.
Features
It comes with multiple pots as well as active and passive push/pull function that can really come in hand, although I personally use only passive and prefer to experiment with my sound directly from my amp.
Construction and Cosmetics
It is a well built instrument, that is for sure. The overall quality of the wood, the electronics etc is really decent and I wasn't really expecting something like that at the specific price range. Also, it is a gorgeous instrument and the finish is absolutely amazing, but can get dusty pretty quick.
Pros
-The price
-Really good building quality and finish
-Really decent sound
-Multiple pots and push/pull function
-Good packaging and fast delivery
-A unique shape (i personally love but someone else might not)
Cons
-Loose screw at arrival
-A unique shape (i personally love but someone else might not)
Summary
A really decent and reasonable priced bass with good sound and overall good building quality.
Great for guitarists starting bass on a budget
This bass is great for guitarists that want to play a bit of bass on the side. It sounds great.
Only real issues I've had with it has been because of the nut being cut a little too low, causing buzz from behind the fretted note. adjusting action fixed this mostly.
Also note that this will take a lot of set-up work, so be prepared for that, and take it to a professional if you are not confident in setting up a bass/guitar.
Never had a bass before
OK, I have zero expertise on bass guitars. Never had one before and added this to an order on a whim so I don't really know what I'm looking at, but it seems too be fine. Finish is nice, feels nice, and set-up seems to be fine. It sounds pretty cool. I don't notice a big difference between having the pre-amp on or off. Now I just have to learn the Seinfeld bass riff ;-)
Very Disappointed!
When I first ordered this bass, I was very excited in waiting on it's
arrival. When it FINALLY came it was very nicely packed, and I was
pretty surprised on how well it was out of the box! BUT, there were
issues with the preamp!!! Meaning it was not functioning right on the
push-pull method. So I had to take it in to my guitar-guy and have it
looked at. It wound up costing me another 200.00 in addition to what
I spent on the bass it self! All & all not very happy with having to spend more money!!!! But after I got it fixed I've had no more issues.
I think for the money, it's more than reasonable! Just because I had an issue doesn't mean one shouldn't buy this bass. It is now my go-to bass for the studio sessions...
Pretty good
after having messed around with this bass for more than half a year, and having tried it on a variety of different amps I still feel like i havent seen its full potential, i especially didnt expect such good sound quality. the only cons i can think of is the fact that when it came, its frets were off and one of the strings rang even when i played it open.
Decent for the price
Came with a wacky setup, got it to a techinician and it helped a bit. Pickups sound great nonetheless.
WOW
For the Price it is a good product better than Squier's or similars
Great Bass
Had to adjust the neck and had trouble with the bridge, other than that it's great.
