Harley Benton British TrueTone 5-stars Reviews
Great for bass
I use this with a bass at a jam night where there is no bass amp so plug straight into PA system. It sounds great with a nice variety of options in the sound shaping.
heavy sound
It gets the heavy sound of Marshall types. Nice and rough. I prefer it at the beginning of the chain to toneshape my amp. At the end I dont like it that much, unless direct recording off course. BUT of the three Truetones I got, this one was for my use the less usefull. Pretty good sound on its own. But it goes shrill very fast in combination with dirt. More suited for direct recording or on its own.
A full amp in a box. Great variation in sounds but difficult to switch between sounds easily. Small tweaks make big sound changes and you are spoiled by the amount of choice. You might need 2 or 3 of these to switch between they're that useful. Can't fault it at the price.
Didn't expect it to be great!
I said what the hell for the price range and bought this pedal. Didn't expect it to turn out awesome! Really gives you Marshall amp sound at a low price. Make sure to place it at the end of your pedalboard.
Nice Marshall amp overdrive simulation.
I really don't do much distortion these days, but I thought I would try this pedal just to hear how it sounds. It sounds like the real thing. I'm inspired to play some 60s, 70s, 80, rock again. Not a bad clean sound either. Very good fit for a pedalboard. Thank you for quick delivery.
Marshall tone for 30 something euros
This little petal petal is so good, I would buy it for double it's prize and it would still be value for money! very good build quality. I use my HB vintage overdrive to drive this and straight to the clean channel of my THR5. Add some reverb and the British cab simulation from my Amp and I get that unmistakable Marshall tone!! I don't think I can do better in this price range!
Really good!!!
There is really no reason not to get this pedal. It's just a very well made overdrive pedal, that does what you'd expect an overdrive to do. Exceptional value for money!
Great Tones
Excellent Quality and Value!!!
Great pedal, pity UK is out of the EU.
A WORD OF CAUTION FOR UK BUYERS BEFORE I REVIEW THIS PEDAL!
The price you see is NOT the price you pay. There are extra charges and you won't have a clue what they are until after the pedal or other gear ships. I was charged more than 20% VAT and had a £11.50 handling charge added that I knew nothing about, BE WARNED.
Sounds fantastic into the front of a Grandmeister 36, really lively and adjustable, still experimenting but what a lot of tone and build quality for the money.
My only reservation is where the power socket is on the side, for me it would have been better for the power to be in the Boss position at the front.
A fun surprise
Honestly I do not believe there are any bass pedals. They do a job and have a sound.
This may not be something you would clear space on your board for but it does a great job as a bubbly crunch.
For the price you will get your money’s worth and if used for layering could be a great little weapon when tracking. Definitely a fun little surprise to add to your basket.
Amazing value
This thing is really my childhood in a box.
You can get very familiar sound with minimal effort. Perfect for ampless setups, since it works perfectly even directly into an interface or monitors.
The EQ is also very nice and it has a huge range
100% satisfied with the purchase. I might even buy a second one to use with an ABY switch as a second channel
very good value as usual from HB range
Nice Mar**** stack sound Pedal very easy to use and control
Love this!
For the price too you can't go wrong.
Harley Benton British TrueTone
I use this pedal at home, I am a hobbyist guitarist and play mainly at home and occasionally with friends.
I love this pedal! it is compact yet gives antiquate access to all the control knobs on the face of the pedal. However, I would prefer the AC jack to be in the rear of the pedal. Who says pink ain't rock and roll!?!
Pros: The price is untouchable! The construction and quality of the pedal for this price is unparalleled. Non-skid backing surface with a recessed access to the battery compartment is very nice for those without a pedal board. The accuracy on the level and tone knobs is very responsive. It is very nice to be able to adjust the controls without needing to crank the knobs. This gives the pedal a feel of ownership and you can adjust the tone without needing to continuously adjust your amp.
Cons: I would like to see the AC adapter location in the back of the pedal. This would give those using a pedal board and slim jack patch cables the ability to place the next pedal in the chain as close as possible to the pedal on the right hand side. Current location takes up additional room and makes a player like me have OCD.
Pedal sounds: You can dial up a laundry list of classic guitar tones with this pedal. I run it through a fender mustang and it considerably helps the Mars tones that this amp has. I am a classic rock fan and can use this to dial in AC/DC, Van Halen, ZZ top, Scorpions, the list goes on. I like how the drive doesn't push the tones over the edge to where everything is breaking up. Some pedals distort the sound too much and you loose the top end range of the pedal. It is not trying too hard to sound like any other "similar" pedal. I used to be "that guy" who would only play "those brands" of pedals but have been completely converted with this pedal and others that I have purchased and heard from Harley Benton.
GREAT VALUE FOR THE MONEY! I Use it to Marshall-color the sound of a different brand preamp. Allows me to set a pretty accurate AC/DC tone.
Love it!
Love it...
Let me start by saying I built an entire back up pedalboard from HB pedals for less than the cost of ONE pedal from my main pedalboard!
That said…
This is one of the best sounding distortion pedals I have heard… It just sounds good!
Most pedals have such a “digital” sound to them, but with a little tweaking this one can sound warm and almost analog!
I am impressed… like any pedal… start tweaking the knobs a little and you should get what you’re looking for, from a little drive to a full on stack that goes to 11!
Worth more.
excellent pedal for the price.
What a pedal!
Using with my Boss Katana, makes THE sound more believable.
Well built, works flawlessly. If you look for the BIG M sound, get one...its really worth it!
Brilliant marshall in a box
The reason I bought this was I needed something that allowed me to use my valve amp at home volumes but with an overdrive sound, it was purchased for that but is so much more. On first glance it's just that Marshall in a box that so many others offer, but at a price that no one else can offer it at.
The enclosure is suitably chunky feeling, robust and should stand up to regular use no problem at all. The colour is a mad pink and while not everyone's cup of tea is very easy to see on a dark stage.
With minimal but all very useful controls it's very easy to use and no matter where on the dials you are every sound is useable. Lots of classic Marshall sounds in here, from just on the edge break up to balls to the wall all out drive.
This pedal is one that everyone should own, it saved me at a gig when my amp died and this became my amp, so simple and sounded great. It really is worth the money to just have as a back up option should your amp decide to die at the worst possible time (isn't that when they always die?) It also really handy to just go direct with for recording. This box does so much and for so little cost.
It's True !!!
Same as for my American TrueTone, this British TrueTone has the sound right.
This one is Brash and Bright just like the real thing.
The 3 band EQ makes tailoring the tone so easy.
Good with Strat pickups, HBs and P90s.
I wasn't really looking for the other offerings in this range but I'm tempted to get the lot. If these two are anything to go by .
If there's a Con it's that the speaker simulation is always on but a bit of extra brightness soon sorts that out when you're looking to use it as a pedal.
At this price point you could get them all for the price of 1 mainstream pedal let alone the boutique stuff.
I'll say again, it really sounds right for that M type sound.
I've no reservations in recommending it.
Edit - Stumbled upon it's Bass Guitar capabilities.
Just as convincing as the tones for guitar.
I was messing with a looper and wanted to lay down a bass part.
Not wanting to fart around with rewiring for bass I just chucked some Precision on and used the Pink one (British TrueTone) to add some bass EQ.
Wow! Nice crunchy semi-breakup pleccy rock-bass tone. Sounds real and dynamic.
Who knew? They certainly don't advertise it as such for bass...they should for sure.
