Harley Benton Classic Flanger Reviews
Pink Floyd worthy
I purchased the Classic Flanger for my do-it-all pedal board build and it has performed exactly as I envisioned. It is much more versatile than the flanger setting on my modeling amp. David Gilmour would be proud.
Fun Design Solid Construction Value For Money Great!!
For the price this is simply a brilliant effects pedal ideal as a present for guitarists and/or tai chi enthusiasts of all ages.
Top effect
For the money, this is a great little effect..does what it says on the tin..great sounds from it
its just awesome!
generally it is a great pedal, but sometimes - not always, on higher notes the frequencies sound a bit weird
cheap flanger
i mostly use it for those space swoops with regen maxed out, things are gonna get wild with those settings but if thats your thing, 30e is not a bad price to do some serious space rocking
Great for Bass Players too!
I took a chance and bought this pedal to try it for playing bass as none of the reviews mentioned if it was any good for this. I am happy to say that it works great. It looks great and everything about it feels rock solid and well built. The signal loses a very small amount of bottom end frequency but is easily compensated for with a tiny EQ adjustment. Although very reasonable, it probably doesn't have an extreme range of flanging adjustments compared to more expensive models but for my purposes it's perfect and for 30 euros there is no room for complaint whatsoever. Another couple of good points is that I can notice no drop or lift in the overall signal volume and the pedal added absolutely no extra background noise in the chain. I have also found it to work particularly well with my (bass) overdrive pedal.
So long as you are not looking for wild outlandish insane flanging, then the sounds this pedal can deliver should put a smile on your face. This one has definitely found a permanent place on my board. 100% recommended!
What I imagined and some more
Besides the fact that it looks amazing, easy to use and great sound, this was my first choice as Flanger and I didn't go wrong. Great quality for the price
nice flanger
oscillates nice if turned all the way up.
Bit like a thight mix of chorus with phaser on steroids.
Widen the sound with your reverb/delay pedals
Well build. good for cleans and distortion. funk till all rock. fun for bass also. big pedal.
It needs a clean strong power source.
Really fun to play, gives a nice extra touch on the guitar sound for very little money.
Flanger is my favourite effect for playing metal, and this pedal is doing it's job very good. I have one more flanger, Line6 Liqua Flange, which is more serious flanger with almost unlimited options comparing to this one, but for easy use and "normal" playing, Harley Benton Classic Flanger in my opinion will be just fine for majority of regular guitar players. It is very affordable, robust, easy, soundwise decent and noiseless. Still need to open the case to see built quality from the inside.
Just great!
For a flanger in this price range it is just great!
had been looking for a nice flanger for quite some time. Since I didnt want to spend a whole lot on it this was definately a solid choice.
It features just the controlls you would expect of a flanger. Regeneration, rate, with and delay! Great to fool around with
It can take you from subtle lushness to full on takeoff in the twist of a knob. The versatility really impressed me! This unit has been on my pedalboard for quite some time now. Still not taking it off of there.
Great and versatile pedal!!
I've been very happy with this pedal, definitely recommend this!
It's the only flanger I've had, so I can't really compare, though.
It is great quality especially considering the price, I've nothing to complain about.
I love the look of this pedal as well!!
Harley Benton Classic Flanger
I bought this pedal last year and use it a lot in live gigs and studio recordings. I didn't want to spend a lot of money for a flanger because I thought I would use it rarely to color my clean tone but I was wrong.
The controls :
- speed : works fine between 0-75% but above that it's very sensitive and may take some time to set the desired speed.
- Width & Delay : both affect the "tridimensional" sound of the flanger and I think they are the most important knobs of this pedal. Width can make your sound wider/bigger or narrower. Delay time enhances the effect in an interesting way..hard to describe in words. Actually the flanger effect appeared in recording studios when two tapes were not synchronized properly..in other words there was a delay between them.
- Regen : for me the regen it's like a reso knob found on phaser pedals. It makes the effect subtle or more obvious.
- cons : It's more like a wish..but a mix knob It would have been very useful especially when using it with overdrive. But for the price it's great as it is.
Classic Flanger
Great peddle for the price tone good case is built well and should last plenty of range to make it sound like any other Flanger out there on the market don't be fooled by the price
Great Pedal
This is my favourite Harley Benton pedal that I own, I use it with drum machines and synthesizers and love the sounds it gives. It allows for some extreme manipulation of the audio passed through it. Build quality feels good and the knobs are decent, not too loose or stiff allowing for precise settings easily.
Versatile and an Absolute Bargain
It's the typical Joyo/HB casing, sturdy and with a cool graphic, LED present and a huge and versatile range, for adding texture or on higher settings great experimenting with sounds. Does not suck much tone either
Great flange for the money.
I've used this on bass, and it's worked well to get 80's style flangey/phase effects. it;s sturdy, and stood up to gigging well so far.
The graphics are perhaps not to everyone's taste, but this is easily fixed with judicious application of surgical spirit.
Quality Product; Mistaken Desire
The Harley Benton Classic Flanger is an amazing piece of kit, it's very robust and well made - solid metal, great action on the foot switch and firm control knobs, which is important as I do like to get my fingers around a firm knob. The holes are also very tight with good grip.
The effect is exactly as one would expect, it gives that great whooshing jet engine sound in varying degrees: one can set the speed and re-gain fast for a tremolo effect, or kick everything down to 10 o'clock except the speed (at say, 2 o'clock) to get a pseudo chorus sound.
I picked a flanger up specifically so I could get most of the way to a Chorus, Phaser and Flanger in one box - but in reality I was mistaken and that is my fault. This is definitely a great sounding pedal, but if you want a chorus or a phaser sound, at the price of the HB pedals you are better off getting dedicated pedals for them.
The art on the pedal is pretty rubbish design-wise, but the white and black colour scheme is OK and the execution of it is perfect: there are no chips or dents, or masking errors at any point.
I would give this pedal a 'good' rating, because it does what it says on the tin with very little fuss and great quality.
great flanger
resembles the flanger boss, excellent construction, true bypass, 30 euro ... you can not ask for more, he plays divinely, I recommend it
Does it's job
Solid pedal, good sonic quality, inexpensive. highly recommend!
Good pedal with some quality issues
I have only had this pedal for a few months. While it sounds good and is quite versatile, the main issue I have with it is the fact that sometimes (very rarely) it doesn't turn on. I would press the switch and nothing happens. This is nothing major, just that the switch gets stuck but sometimes in a fast song this could be an issue. Other than that it is a really good pedal.
