Harley Benton CPT-20 Reviews
Small, Solid and Accuarate
This is a mini sized pedal tuner which feels solid and is surprisingly heavy given the size.
There are three indicators to show tuning on this pedal, firstly, three LED's at the top for flat, tuned and sharp. These LEDs are quite bright and can be seen well in a gig environment.
Secondly is the LCD panel which displays the note you are tuning as a large letter, when tuned the back-light changes from blue to green.
The third is a chromatic VU meter style display in the top part of the LCD display - probably a little small to be seen on stage or from a standing position.
The true bypass switch feels solid.
Be aware that this unit needs to be powered by a power supply.
Excellent tuner
This tuner is very well built and very precise. I am very happy with the purchase.
it tunes and turns my blues driver on...
as a tuner it's good... no complaint there...
but every time i turn it on it either switches on or off my boss blues driver (no matter where either pedal is in the signal chain)... it's pretty weird.
it doesn't affect any other pedal i my rig but the blues driver (bd2) turns on and off when i turn the tuner on.
if i don't have the bd2 it is a great tuner but if i have the bd2, and it's not on and i go into tuning mode it creates awful hum/hiss type nose becouse it turns the bd2 on...
anyway as i say as a tuner it's great.... and i don't know if i got a bad example but all of the above is true, so be aware if you have a blues driver =D
You get what you pay for
Tuning with this is a bit hit and miss.
Sometimes when I'm tuning a different note will show up or nothing at all.
The biggest con is that when you have a good few effects on hitting this pedal creates a thump. (which I've managed to incorporate into a song so I guess its good?)
Overall I don't regret buying it but i will definitely upgrade when i have the money.
Does the job.
Great value tuner, hasn't let us down at any gigs. The only con is that it does not come with a power supply so unless you order this too you can't test straight away.
I have used this tuner at practice and gigging. I found the display is easy to read under poor lighting conditions and it seems quite sturdy.
Tunes great, but feels like its going to fall apart. The dc adapter is moving all over, the box feels thin and the switch has a slack that makes you think it will fall apart.
Apart from what it "feels" like, the pedal did numerous gigs, and many many rehearsals and it still works.
Its just feels cheap enough to get you scared I guess
awesome little tunner and affordable
bough two of these (sick of plucking strings for the bass player to tune up to lol)...my eye sight has deteriorated over the years, so straining to see at back line tunning up has become a nightmare, now this is in my chian and wow...when turned on or rather selected it cuts of guitar silently! and the simplicity of reading ."cough cough" looking at colours (when in or out of tune) could not have made my life easier...well happy with purchase and flawless price to pay!
Effective unit!
A good effective little tuner. I have only used this for bass and it so far has been up to the task. The case is brushed aluminium and the screen is very bright, which is helpful. The unit is small, which means less space taken up on the pedal board, but does make how far out of tune the string can be hard to see, but once you get in tune the screen glows green, a nice feature.
Overall this is the cheapest pedal tuner on the site, but don't let that put you off. It has replaced a unit on my pedal board that cost over three times as much and it performs better.
Incredible value for money, you won't be disappointed.
Great for the money
I bought this just to use at home and it is perfect. Great display and fairly accurate. Good quality and can't ask for more than that for the silly price.
Highly recommended
It does the job, plain and simple. Prefer this over some of the more expensive tuners out there.
It has replaced the more expensive tuner, on my main board. At this price, I'll be getting another one soon, for my other board. For which it was intended in the first place.
Highly recommendable.
Best tuner for the money
Bought this tuner to use mainly in bass, as it is my main instrument.
It was really a surprise to me how good it worked compared to much more expensive tuner pedals.
It is pretty acurate and fast. If you're playing bass and are wondering if this tuner can do alternative tunings (like drop D or C Standard), it can and it works really well.
I once tuned my bass to drop D in a much more expensive Boss tuner and it just didn't work and let the string out of tune, even though it was saying it was in tune. In the Harley Benton i can do this without a problem.
In guitar it works really well too.
If u were hesitating in buying this tuner just go ahead and do it. You can't really go wrong with it, amazing quality for the price!
Great Little Tuner
Inexpensive, tiny, accurate, study, bright.
I've got bigger, more accurate tuners, tuners that go lower that A0 but for what it is for the price it's at it's a bargain.
It changes colour when in tune which is a nice touch.
Harley Benton CPT-20
Very good pedal, it is a tuner precise and small footprint, also has a great rate!
Simple and effective
This is a great little tuner that is amazing value! The outside is brushed aluminium which looks amazing and it tracks my guitar well! the screen even turns green to let you know you are tuned perfectly. You can't power this with a battery and theres no real additional features but the simplicity of the unit just works, after all you want to play, not faff around with a tuner!
tuner that's value for the money.
purchased this to use on my pedal board as i was after something small and not to expensive and this is ideal for the job. the pedal i received is silver all around and not white as it appears in the pictures, this though is not important to me.
the bypass switch seems sturdy enough and when set to tune mode it cuts off the sound to the amplifier so it could also be used as a kill switch. there is a bright led screen that indicates the note being played with indication to whether the note is high or low to adjust the tuning, i have compared this to other tuners that i have and it seems spot on when using for standard tuning or dropped tuning.
it is all metal in construction other than the display screen and i would imagine that this thing will last for years to come.
on the down side this can only be used with a 9v power supply as there is no facility for a battery connection.
also the led lights that indicate flat and sharp notes are not in line with the metal casing, this does not affect the use but is down to the quality of the build.
summary: for what this tuner costs i think you get value for money. i would replace this with the same model if i was to loose it.
Not the best
I bought this on a whim as it isn't very expensive and I wanted a smaller tuning pedal for a more compact pedalboard however it doesn't track bass guitars very well and it caused me quite a bit of bother on stage when i was tuning between songs telling me that my D string was and A and that it was flat instead of it actually being sharp.
The build quality however is very good and it works very well with my guitar.
Not the best guitar tuner
The button on this pedal is very stiff which makes it awkward to use on stage. They are also not battery operated which means you have to purchase an additional cable to use them.
Nice tuner
Very sturdy tuner. Metal casing. In the pictures it may look white, but it's aluminum (even more beautiful). It does it's job perfectly. It's very quick to detect the notes. Why buying something more expensive?
If I'd have to complain about something, it would be the red LEDs, that light when the string is out of tune. They are DAMN TOO BRIGHT! But It's nothing you can't get used to, in my opinion.
All in all, great tuner. If mine breaks, I'll buy this one again.
Very comfortable pedal with a good price, but there is a significant disadvantage.
When the tuner along with distortion, the sound becomes as Jack pulled out of the guitar, that is, noise, hum. We have to include the tuner only after turning off the compressor and distortion.
The screen is quite readable and bright.
this is a bargin ! this tuner sits right in the pedal board tuning up during a gig is so simple with this tuner it's led's are bright and easy to read it has the facility to down tune as well it's easy to use compact and there's no hiss from it in use .why pay three times the price for a tuner when this hot tuner can do everthing the competion can for a fraction of the price .
