Harley Benton D-120CE VS Reviews
Had this guitar for 6months now and been playing it every week and haven't had any problems/issues with it up to this writing.
love it
needs a little adjustments but sound good and feels nice
Great!
This guitar is amazing for the price. Highly recommend
Great while it lasts
I've had this guitar for about 3 years now. It played great, sounds good and is a lot of fun. However, after about a year of owning the guitar, the bridge started to peel away from the body. I guess I will have to turn it into a wall hanger as it is no longer playable. A good guitar for a road trip as long as you don't expect it to last.
Good quality Guitar
Weigh is little bit higher side but sound quality is very good.
Awesome value
Beautiful looking guitar and has a real booming sound to it.
Was after a dreadnought but on a budget and couldn't be happier with this. Plan to lower the bridge a little but am confident in doing that.
Great value for the price and even better with new strings on it.
good guitar
this guitar is as good as a Gibson and it has the best sound which can be relaxing or even a funky mood!
Thanks HB
Delicate and rich sound! Great feeling to use it. Amazing job without any "bugs" or defects. Thank you, Harley Benton!
Very Impressive
I grabbed this guitar on a whim since I was already placing an order, and I'm so glad I did. Yes, it's thin and on the cheaper built side, but considering the price, it's miles ahead of anything else I've played in that price range.
The finish is beautiful. It is actually way nicer than I expected it to be. It was set up perfectly right out of the box. Tune it up a little, and its ready to go. The electronics works really well too. It sounds really nice unplugged, and even better plugged in. I couldn't be happier
Very good.
Of course for this price you can't expected first class but for spear guitar very nice.
The guitar that grew up with me.
I bought this guitar in 2014/2015 with my mom's credit card without her permission. Expecting the world's harshest scolding when a huge package arrived at my door, my mom looked at me with a stern look and said surprisingly softly: "You best play this every day." I nodded my head so hard I gave myself whiplash. I have always been so incredibly impatient so I couldn't even watch tutorials on how to play the guitar, and I self thought myself everything I know to date. This guitar has been through thick and thin. I even took it abroad to let my cousins play with it.
Usually, with the years that have gone by, the guitar should have lost good tonality and the sound should have slipped, but this guitar continuously sounds like golden droplets hitting water, every time it's played. I wrote my first hit song on this guitar and made so many memories, that I wouldn't trade it for anything else even if I was offered. This guitar is good for novices, beginners, professionals- the whole board.
Some blessings aren't always $1000+ dollars.
Happy and worth it for the price
The sound is not the best, kind of too metallic and sometimes not very clear, BUT I think it´s more than good for this price range. The quality overall feels good.
If you are a beginner or just a casual player or on a cheap budget this guitar is a very good option.
Incredible!
I didin´t expect it would be this great!!
Everything perfect, great sounding guitar and very well made, I recommend this guitar for any level of guitarists
it is good
the action on the guitar is not the best, and the pickups could be better, but for the price it is really good.
good
real good fo price)
Awesome guitar for a awesome price
this guitar is beautiful with a very good sound. Quality looks like a much more expensive guitar. I replaced the strings by Daddario 0.10 and is much better to play. only problem I had was a small mark on the paint that looks like someone hit in the wall, but I bought as a travel guitar, so there is ok. it is not a big deal.
It's a guitar
And it's not a bad one despite the price!
I've played electric for one year, so it was about time I wanted to try acoustic. I've decided to go with a working strategy, and that means buying the cheapest and the most beautiful Harley Benton and see how it works.
So, for the good:
- finish is flawless! You can tell it's not a million dollar guitar, but it's made really, really well
- neck is straight and the guitar has a truss rod
- nut is okay
- bridge is okay as well
- it has no anomalies (like fret buzz) while playing whatsoever
- intonation is almost perfect, and for the price - what else you can ask for?
- preamp... works!
- it has strap buttons, which is good, for I'm learning to play while standing
And for the bad:
- fretboard is not made well, the wood required some sanding paper on it. It's my 3rd HB and 5th guitar overall, and this is the first time I see such a fretboard
- of course, fret ends are sharp. I didn't even expect them being not sharp, so - sanding paper!
- string action is higher than it is on electric guitars (3mm over 12th fret), so I'll have to get used to it
Overall:
It's not the prefect guitar, I might even go for a more expensive acoustic over time, but this time won't be short. As a first acoustic, it satisfies all my needs and will satisfy yours as well. It has flaws, but look at the price and make your peace with it.
Damaged goods
Disappointed in the lack of communication and assistance in rectifying my guitar delivered damaged. Poor service after receipt of my money.
So worth it!
I read many good things about this guitar and they were all true. For the price, style and class of this guitar you will not find a better deal. Yes, there are better guitars, but there are always better guitars. This one sounds great and I would buy it again.
Really quite impressive
I purchased one of the Harley Benton telecaster style guitars, specifically the TE-20MN, recently. I'd been quite sceptical of the hype around the brand, but having watched and read so many great reviews I decided to take a chance.
While making that purchase, I decided, on a whim -- to also purchase an acoustic guitar, this brought me to the D-120CE VS which I couldn't believe was £71...there has to be a catch, I thought. A telecaster for £79 and this wonderful looking acoustic for £71?
I'm not much of an acoustic player, owed a few over the years, had an Ibanez, a Yamaha, a Fender, they were good guitars and this absolutely is up there with any of them in terms of sound and playability. I did have to do a few minor things to get this guitar perfect but it only took half an hour of minor work and it was singing like a canary.
Here are my pros and cons, first the pros:
1. Gorgeous, really - the binding really stands out against the blacks and browns on the body, it's very nice. Also, the black finish is only on the top, the rest of the guitar is a really nice, deep brown wood/grain.
2. The tuners are better than I'd expect at this price point, they feel quite nice.
3. Big, deep dreadnaught so you get a really nice, booming sound from it -- really rich, deep bass tones.
4. The EQ control is actually better than expected, even came with a battery.
5. Sounds nice through an amp, actually a lot better than expected.
6. First guitar I ever bought where I didn't want to change the strings, they are smooth as butter.
Cons:
1. Some minor fret sprouting, this is more likely down to wood drying/shrinkage than craftsmanship or quality control and a really easy fix.
2. Frets a bit rough and scratchy, not a huge problem and to be expected, quick polish and they're bright as a button. They now feel really smooth to play and bend.
3. Fretboard was really dry. I realise some people like that but I like a nicely oiled fretboard. To be fair this is kind of expected and not a problem at all. I applied lemon oil and this thing sucked it up in seconds, so I applied another layer and that was enough. Really brightens this thing up and darkens that fingerboard, lovely!
So, to summarise - as a non-acoustic player and a newcomer to the Harley Benton brand I've been dealt a double-helping of having my mind blown in a very short space of time, it's very pleasant!
I love this guitar, I think I'll be playing a lot more acoustic stuff than I used to because it feels so nice to hold. It's a chunky, deep body so take me time to get used to but this is an absolute steal at this price.
Always a good test to hand my dad a guitar and let him have a guess at the price. He had the HB telecaster priced at £200-300 and this priced at about £200, didn't believe me when I told him how much they really cost - I had to show him the website!
Very happy with this - much obliged!
