Harley Benton DS-10 Mini Reviews
great little guitar. not a "real" guitar... but more than a toy!
great traveller!!!
and for this price, 4 stars!
dont bother
spend a bit more and get a decent guitar
Great beginner, smaller sized guitar
I wanted a 3/4 sized acoustic guitar to start learning guitar. I really like this guitar for its portability, due to its smaller size, while still have a solid sound. I tend to pick this guitar up over my electric because I can play it anywhere in the house easily. Good fret sizes for when you are first learning, so you don't need to stretch as much to begin with to make the chord sounds.
Impressed with the quality.
Got this for my kid. I expected to need some fret work, but to my surprise, the frets are polished, no sharp ends, fretboard looks good, maybe a bit dry, but some oil will fix that.
I totally recommend that for kids.
Best choice for kids
I bought this guitar for my 8 y.o. daughter. She plays Ukrainian folk instruments, and tried to play my Squier Affinity Tele, but its too heavy and uncomfortable for her.
A guitar came in excellent condition with gigbag. No issues found.
Pros:
Size fits perfect kid's hands. Sounds better then same sized guitarlele. Looks good.
Cons: strings tension weaker then full size guitar.
So I'm satisfied with this small and cutie guitar.
great guitar
this is a great guitar for the price, would recomend it to anyone that wants a travel guitar and does not want to spend much
Great travel guitar
This travel guitar is great it sounds pretty good, plays nice and most of all looks really cute! I did change the strings instantly to Daddario EJ17's, I did need to file the nut a small bit and adjust the trussrod a bit because of the thicker string gauge but it was a easy job.
Pros:
-sounds small
-playability is great
-holds tune
-no sharp fret edges
cons:
-sounds small
-small little dent in the wood (not annoying)
-Binding has a clear mark
As you can see sounds small is as both a pro and a con because its really a preference.
Overall its a great guitar for the money!
Steal for the price
Bought the instrument for my 7 years old daughter as she was interested in learning to play. I was reluctant to give her any of my professional grade instruments to play with thus I selected this guitar. I was amazed when the guitar arrived. I has volume and tone and the construction is pretty good We had a lot of fun with it and the guitar sounds really good when used with bottleneck. Anybody looking for a mini guitar I would suggest this one as it costs literally pennies. Year and a half around and no issues with it. There is only thing that I would suggest if you intend to use it often - change the tuners. They are really bad.
excellent
well-made and fun to play. can't believe this costs, what it costs. . sound is what you'd expect from a small acoustic; nothing "big" sounding, but nice sound, nonetheless. great deal.
Great for the price
I've had this guitar for a few months now and I like it a lot.
Pros: It feels good in the hands, plays well and doesn't sound as bad as I expected. Very addictive.
The hardware is quite good, good action right out of the box and I don't really ever experience tuning problems.
Perfect for traveling or just to noodle around with on the go.
Cons: The body feels a little fragile. It's obviously not the same wood as the more expensive guitars, you can tell it will break quite easily if you aren't careful (Which you should be with any guitar anyway, but you get the idea)
Pretty cheap wood overall, but it is expected from such a low priced item.
Conclusion: If you want a guitar to use for practice at home or to take with you on magical journeys, this is the instrument you need. You won't necessarily play gigs with this baby, but it's okay because it isn't its intended purpose.
With a price like this, you shouldn't even hesitate.
Great Little Guitar
a Tiny Tweak needed on the truss rod, Action and intonation Very good now, nice sound to , the six year old i bought this for is over the moon , and it's a perfect guitar for her size as a starter guitar (Steel Strung), You can't go wrong at this price .only down side is the gig bag it comes with is to small . but found a good aftermarket gig bag so no big deal :)
Only Good as a Travel Guitar - Nothing More
There's a reason this little guitar is so cheap - it's poorly made and there must be virtually no quality control.
I'm not a guitar snob by any stretch. The most expensive guitar I own is a EUR 600 instrument and I love it just the same as my EUR 250 axes. So I'm not the type of guitarist to nit pick over the small stuff.
My Harley Benton DS-10 Mini came with several sharp fret ends and absolutely will not hold a tune. I'm not an expert, but I'm guessing it's either something with the nut or the very cheap feeling, loosey-goosey feeling tuners.
If you want something to take camping that's light and you won't be too upset about being damaged/getting wet, etc., the DS-10 Mini is probably worth the money. Beyond that, it may only be worth it as a project - something to tinker with.
As a finished product, though, I don't recommend it.
Absolutely amazing travel sized guitar
I use this guitar for personal practice at home on my own. The guitar produces an excellent sound for the size and really is made from excellent craftsmanship.
The guitar is portable and so far has stayed in tune perfectly, it's super lightweight.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this guitar to anyone from beginners to professionals!
great little guitar!
it is nice sounding. fret ends are a bit sharp but still playable. the best travel guitar for price. i hope you guys sell this to usa again with a roseacer neck. i would like to buy more harley bentons in the usa,
Really nice guitar for the price !
This guitar may be ship but have a really nice sound and feel good while playing, the size makes her easy to carry around and play everywhere. My only tip to who would buy this guitar is buy a better strings and change the original ones. Have fun playing.
amazing value for money
It gets three stars for features simply because it doesn't even pretend to be anything than what it is: a small, cheap, but very good value guitar.
I travel quite a bit, and it's small enough to not be a hassle, but it's definitely not a toy.
It feels really nice to hold (a sort of matte finish instead of a gloss one), stays in tune very well, and is quite loud for its size.
I would definitely recommend this one for anybody who just wants a cheap acoustic that sounds great for the amount you pay (and, to be honest, sounds pretty great full stop), even if you weren't considering getting a mini one.
Good guitar for a child
I have been suprised with quality of sound. Guitar is built very well for the money. I had just a small issue with bridge. Strings have been to high from a freatboard. 5 minutes with file in my hands and bridge was leveled to the right size.
My nephews over the moon
He's only 6 so was hard to judge what was best for him but I was glad Xmas morning his hands were able to reach around due to its size and even I had a good jam on it! Definitely the best value at this price point
Brilliant for the price!
Having tried a few guitars for newbs, this is by far my favorite, it's a beautiful little thing that is nice to pick up.
My son love it, the quality isn't an issue at all and the sound is what you'd expect for a small guitar this size.
Very Happy :)
Mini is correct, it's very small, but would probably be good for a child to learn on.
Comes with a bag, which is ok to carry it around , but won't offer any protection.
Pretty good value for a starter instrument, but if you're an adult, I'd recommend something bigger
