Harley Benton G212 Celestion V30 4-stars Reviews
Excellent value for money..
Considering the price of this, it contains, in my opinion, 2 of the best Celestion speakers on the market. I recently upgraded to a Zilla cab, which is much sturdier/robust, but was much more expensive, and it still has one of the v30 celestions in it. Great cab.
Harley Benton G212 Vintage - best value cab on the market
I have used this as an extension and a main cab. It is a great sounding cab. It is also ridiculous good value for money.
The option to switch between mono and stereo is a nice touch. It means you can run two amps to the cab!
The only caveat is that the closed back cab sound may not be everybody, particularly for those playing in small areas\stages. So please consider that when buying.
If you like the V30 and closed back sound, at this price it is a no-brainer!
Value for money.
This item currently costs £155.38. It contains 2 Celestion Vintage 30 speakers.
Buying 2 single Celestion Vintage 30 speakers from this same site would come to £156.18.
In other words, for 80 pence LESS than the cost of buying 2 individual speakers, they will also supply you wood, handles, wiring, etc., and build a cabinet around those 2 speakers for you...
So from that perspective this cab can't be anything less than a good deal. I found it to be good quality and didn't experience any of the problems listed in a few other reviews I read (ie. bubbling of the Tolex, jack plate upside down).
No complaints here.
Nice box
This thing works well with the loudspeakers provided, The cabinet also gives good sound. Just when one intends to use this for gigs, the finish is not adequate (covering breaks up, peels off).
Great value
Tried this out yesterday with my new H & K Grandmeister36 amp and it sounded so good. I can carry it myself with ease and I like the potential of using it with my stereo amp as well. A smart and stylish cab that will sound great on stage.
A good entry-level cab
I use this cab mostly for metal recordings and have used it several times practicing with a band.
It is pretty lighweight and actually sounds pretty good for the absurdly low price. Do bear in mind that it is a bit presency/shrilling, so I need to cut a bit around ~3khz when recording.
Best cab in the world? Nope.
Good value? Definitely.
Much bang for the bucks
This must be the most "bang for the bucks" cabinet available at the market. Buying the Celestion v30 elements alone cost more money than the whole cabinet.
In the beginning it can feels a bit "cold" but after a few hours use when the elements are "warmed up" it sounds real good. I use it connected to an Egnater Tweaker 15 which sounds perfect in this one. So if you need a cabinet for small money, buy this one and i am sure you will be satisfied. A recommendation from me is that you put it on a bench so you have it at least 30 centimeters over the floor.
good bang for the buck
I like this speaker cabinet. It looks good, feels good and sounds good.
I had read quite a few positive reviews on this cabinet before I bought it and now I can only agree with them. I use it together with my Egnator Tweaker and they work perfectly together. I mainly play "loud guitar music", such as punk rock or metal. This cabinets delivers good sound with both top and bottom.
I had previously heard that you had to do the final touches yourself, such as tightening screws etc. but after more than two years I still have not had to do that. So I guess the quality has increased from the factory.
This is a good cabinet well worth the money.
what a surprise!!
so not only was it super speedy delivery the product is also top notch with metal handles jack connectors and corners!! its pretty weighty and i would say as well made as anything costing sub 400 pound!
Harley Benton 2x12 cabinet with Celestion V30 speakers
Features: A bread-and-butter guitar cab. Two Celestion V30 speakers, which are pretty much the standard for heavier tones. Two handles by which to pick the cab up, and a control plate, with two inputs switchable 8-16 ohms. Closedback, without a hatch. The cab is rigid enough to sit or keep your amp on without damaging it.
Sound: What you might expect from a 2x12 with V30s. It has a slight frequency spike in upper mids as expected, and just as expectedly it gets smoothened out when you break the cab in for some time. I throw sounds ranging from country to death metal through this, and can't complain. It performs just as well as most other similiar cabs.
Quality. Here I have a few points to nag on. First of all, my control plate came in upside down, and I had to take it off to check if the speakers were wired correctly, or if the 8 and 16 ohm modes were inverted.
Secondly, the tolex with which the cab is covered, is not all that great. It's pretty thin, and thus takes damage easily. The gluing is not top notch either, as on mine the tolex is "bubbling" a bit on a few places. The corner covers are made of pretty soft plastic, and have worn out on mine to a point that I'm considering changing them out for more durable ones.
As you see, the problems I have with this cab are mostly cosmetic, and don't effect the sound. That being said, this cab is pretty hard to beat for the price. You can barely buy the speakers for the same price, not to mention a whole cab. So the bang-for-buck is excellent.
AC30 Alive
I recently reactivated an early 1960's AC30 (pre-top boost) amp chassis. Since I only had the chassis, no speakers, I needed a set of speakers. To this end I opted for the HB G212 Celestion equipped cab.
It is a chunky cab that could not be described as small, but it is exceptionally well made, easy to open up (be careful taking off the front grill... the velcro is quite strong) and easy to adapt....I had to hardwire the speakers for 8 Ohms (spks in parallel) to suit my AC30 head... only 8 Ohm and 16 Ohm output available.
For the price it is an exceptional deal and so far I am very happy with the sound. I do use a "Weber Mass" speaker attenuator so I can crank the AC30 yet keep the neighbours, wife, kid and pets happy.
Really sweet.
Amazing for the price
this cab sounds amazing, the vintage 30 speakers make it sound awesome for the type of music that i play, metal and death metal, i would like a little more low end from this cab as this is where i think that it is lacking, though that is nothing that cant be fixed with EQ. the handles on the side make it easy to be carried around and is light weight enough to be easily transported by one person. i plan to buy another on of these to hake a half stack and so that my band will have 2 2x12's to take to gigs as my other guitaist only has a 4x12 and is hard to get around places in a standard car. amazing cab for the price, i would easily pay £200 and upwards for this.
Unbeatable value
A vintage 30 loaded cab for this price is a no brainer. Overall I think the makers have done an excellent job on economising the design (front loaded speakers etc) without compromising the overall quality of the cabinet. The carry handles are metal which is actually better than you will find on some of the other more expensive cabs.
Great sounding 2x12 cab
This cab is sold at a price point that be-lies the quality of the sound. It is true that the tolex and fittings are chepa and do not take knocking around. However the sound is from 2 Vintage 30 12" speakers and is as good a sound as any other 2x12 V30 loaded cabs. It is also mono/stereo which again is pretty cool. You can always upgrade the plugs and handles and even the tolex. I primarily use it for rehearsal but with careful handling this is an incredible cab for the money.
Harley Benton G212 V30
This cabinet sounds very good, very clear and warm. I was previously using a Carvin V3 212 cabinet to run my Blackstar HT50, but it is now basically off all the time, after I purchased this one.
My only concern is that the packaging is not great and it arrived to me with a few bumps. It still works fine though, showing enough building quality to handle abuse.
Recommended for who wants a nice cabinet with a very good cost benefit.
