Harley Benton G212 Celestion V30 4-stars Reviews
Beefy sound!
I purchased this cabinet for playing heavy metal through it. This cabinet delivered just as I had hoped. The tones I'm able to achieve with this cabinet have made me extremely happy.
2x12 vintage 30s
I have been using this cab for 6 years in a band gigging etc, I find it adequate for the job sounds good with the vintage 30s, not the best made cab but if you look after it it will last for years, a great price compared to other cabs I am happy with my purchase and would recommend to other guitarists.
Great Cabinet for the price
Sounds great, holds up well. Haven't gigged with it; but is definitely loud enough paired with the right amp.
Good item for the value
Made for start-up guitar players, suitable for small gigs as well.
Sounds great
I was looking for a closed back cab with v30s in my search for a better metal tone. This thing shipped really fast and I had it in 3 days. This was faster then most things I order on Amazon. I live in the west coast for reference. That cab seems sturdy and sounds way better and alot less fizzy then my open back with 2 70/80s. I am very happy with the sound and the speakers aren't even broke in yet. My only complaint is the packaging and quality. The cab came in a single layer box with foam on the corners. When I took it out there was two dents in the front of the amp. They are not super noticable, but still annoying. And probably the worst part is both top front metal corners are dented. This does not seems like it would have been shipping damage like the other dents. All the corners on the shipping box where still in good shape and with the foam on them it makes it seem like it happened before shipping. I would probably buy again because of the price point for a casual player. Just beware it may not come in perfect condition. For 100 in shipping some extra foam or better box would have gone a long way.
Awesome for the price
If you need a powerful V30 box that doesn't cost too much, look no further. Fell in love with this one instantly
Pretty good affordable 2x12 but could be better.
The general construction of this unit is pretty good, as is the sound quality, especially for the price. This is the best speaker cab you can buy for under $500, bar none. You'll be surprised how full this cab sounds too, I was pleasantly surprised!
My only real complaint is the tolex, it is TERRIBLE. It arrived with a small ding in the tolex, not a huge deal, but I sat another speaker cab on its side on top of this unit while rearranging my music room, and it had already left indents after 5 MINUTES. A small complaint overall, but I wouldn't have minded paying a little more for this cab if they could put some better material on it.
Great speaker cab but not packaged the greatest.
I love the cab and I love the sound. I was looking for a 2x12 with celestion v30s and I am not disappointed by the sound. I still prefer this over spending 800+ on a mesa 2x12 cab with celestions. HOWEVER- when I got the cab, there was a 2 inch gash in the right side of it on the back. I would post a picture of it if I could, but it doesn't look like I am able to. The gash is the only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5. I am still happy with it, but in the future, it needs to be more securely packaged, and UPS needs to treat their packages with better care. The box looked pretty banged up when it arrived.
Good cabinet
Apart from the physical quality issues (for example the white seal around the speaker is not even, some of it is coming out, so it doesn't look very good), the cabinet is a great choice for getting two V30 speakers for a low price. Don't expect anything high quality about the cabinet itself, it's quite bad, but get this for the speakers.
Fantastic value
A 2x12 cab in poplar plywood with black tolex, loaded with Celestion V30s, featuring a mono/stereo selection for this price?
Incredible bang for buck!
It's a great value cab
Okay, we all know it's not built out of your finest artisanal materials. But it's a decent cab, sporting two V30's at almost the price of v30's alone... The cab does have handles, it's got stereo in case you need it, and all in all it's kinda reasonably generic looking, to not stand out. I've also removed all the logos off the front, which is actually possible to do, and now it looks like this sleak black box :D
But importanly, it sounds pretty good. I play shows with it and rehearse, pairing it with next to my orange 412 cab. And I wouldn't say that it sounds much worse than the orange cab. It can be muddy sometimes, but then you can clean it up with amp settings I think, and I play with a lot of low end, so I get mud either way :D
Beware that if you place something on top, it'll leave permanent (I think) marks into the finish, if that's something you care about in this case :)
v30
is amazing for this price,,,
if you want a low cost cabinet for your guitar amp its a very good low cost choice, great sound because of the celestion speakers and its easy to carry on your gigs.Excellent choice
Solidly constructed cab with two decent speakers in it. Does the job well, and is decently responsive even at lower volumes. I do find the speakers a bit bassier than I'd like and I have seen videos showing the Chinese made Celestion v30's (which I suspect these are) have a different frequency response curve to the UK made ones, which seems accurate to me.
If you specifically want v30's for the sound they make it might be worth looking at a higher end cab with them or buying them to fit in your current cab, but if you want a good sounding and high value cab this is a good starting point for sure.
Great value - poor shipping
Sounds awesome, very happy. However, it did come damaged in two places, both on the top and front of the cabinet. Box was ripped and you could see the exposed wood on the cabinet before opening it. I'm not returning it over a couple dings/dents and wait weeks for another, etc., just would like to say that it should have been double boxed to travel from Germany to California/USA. Killer deal, paired with my Randall 45 Diavlo it rocks hard.
Great cab
Great Cab, medium quality tolex (some noticeable glue excess). Good for the price.
Good price & value
For the price, you can't go wrong. Decent speakers, strong housing, a bit heavier than necessary.
my first choice
I'm using the cab on regular basis for almost 3 years now. I've gigged with it, I rehearse w/ it at least once a week and it's yet to let me down.
Got some killer doom metal tonez from 2x212 setup w/ another G212 (non Vintage) and my Laney GH50L. Currently I play my JCA22h through it and my tone is rich and punchy. The sound is on brighter side but cuts very well and my leads really do really pop out.
Construction-wise cab is built solidly, metal handles and corners feel sturdy; backplate, input jacks and switch seem to be good quality. The only drawbacks I've noticed are cosmetic: the tolex on mine isn't glued properly on corners and has some wood peeking out. Another drawback is the durability of tolex itself. It scuffs quite easily so if you like your cabs impeccable I recommend buying some cover for it ...just in case you plan to lug it around a lot. I make do with black duct tape on mine :) I've also had to replace rubber footings for better quality ones.
Still best bang for buck cab you can have!
Great Cab for the money
I use this cab at home, and for jamming with friends.
Sounds absolutely phenomenal my only gripe is the tolex used isnt applied very well and comes of very easily but thats all cosmetic if you care about that.
Quality exceeds price.
Solid construction, nice covering, and absolutely perfect as far as cosmetic appearances goes. I was surprised at how nice it is considering the price.
The Celestion speakers inside sound great clean or with gain, and act just like one would expect, and they make the cab a great match to something tube 50 watts or under, if you want mono. It's perfect for dual 20 Watt stereo power amps... if you play loud.
If this had a 4 Ohm impedance choice, it would definitely be "perfect", but don't let that hold you back from getting it.
I will probably order another in the near future.
