Harley Benton PB-20 BK Standard Series Reviews
Good for this price
The output plug is not solid. Maybe I was unlucky, who knows.. The sound is great though !
Great for the price !!
I bought this Bass guitar to try and learn a stringed instrument , and have been using it now for the past 6 months
the build quality is superb for the price and sound quality no less when used on a decent amp!
people usually get shocked when i tell them the price i paid for it haha
overall if you are a beginner or even been playing for q while i would recommend just getting one and leaving it lay around the house
Best bargain ever
This is probably the best value-for-money in my life, seriously.
This is a simple no-BS workhorse P-Bass, very enjoyable to play with flawless neck, really good sounding pickups, simple but fully functional and to-the-point hardware.
Mind that in "features", I took it that it stands for "PBass design features" and that's what I placed 5 stars, since this instruments lacks none of the PBass features. It certainly missed *several* features in context of what's possible in the electric bass universe, but that's a compromise with any PBass.
I used it in my home studio, rehearsal rooms and small gigs - no problem whatsoever, stays in tune.
In my eyes there is no reason to buy a more expensive PBass, besides the name on the headstock.
I dare anyone to distinguish in a dry mix the more than x10 more expensive Fender.
amazing
amazing instrument with a killer price.
perfect for entry players and not only
Excellent P-Bass
Does what it says on the tin! Nothing amazing, but a solid and well built p-bass. The pickups are great but they are not terrible either - they are perfectly useable. I think the frets could do with levelling to get the action down. If you are able to do basic maintenance and repair work, then this bass would make a good project. Dropping some wilkinson Alnico pups in and levelling the frets would transform the bass into something rivalling more expensive instruments. Perfectly useable as it comes however!
above it's price range
Better than expected, but actually I was expecting some good surprise after trying other HB products.
Has some minor aesthetic flaws (tiny brown wood flecks on neck, pickguard edge is not that smooth, minor scratches on fretboard), but has a nice fretjob, sounds good, and feels solid. I was expecting a pickup that needs to be replaced immediately, but no, it's surprisingly good too. One of my lightest basses, at 3.8 Kgs. Worth every penny IMO.
It sounds good, the strings feel great, the design is awesome and it's not very heavy(for a bass). I personally recommend it, specially for beginners.
Impressed
I was impressed with this bass, its inexpensive, it sounds and looks good. It came with a decent setup and with OK strings. Nice rosewood for the fingerboard and a nice vintage growl from the ceramic pickups. Well done!
I bought this for learning the guitar. For the beginners, novice it is great.
The perfect first bass for anyone!!
I bought this after advice from several musical friends as a first bass and was not disappointed. Several years later and still using it both live and in studio. Great quality and a brilliant option to a traditional P-funk shape. Nice neck and solid body. Don't think this could be beaten for value for money. A++++
BEST DEAL FOR THE MONEY
I buyied this one about an year ago because I just wanted to learn how to play bass out of the blues. But beacause I was an absolutelyy noob in any musical way I didn't wanted to loose to much money in case I couldn't play at all.
So ... since last year I started fooling around at home, watch some YouTube tutorials, read a few things online and Boom 3 months later i joined the local orchestra and play what the upright bass is supoused to...jazzy basslines :D
I own a a second bass, wich is better, more expensive and all ... BUT I keep jamming with my Benton
PS: i strung it with GHS P bass flatwound strings 55-105 so in this season I'm Jamming all the way :D ;P
Merry Christmass
Definitely worth its price
I bought this because I needed a cheap bass for practice and noodling at the office. My only demands was that it should be cheap so I don't have to shed any tears if it gets stolen, and that it should be playable.
I was rather surprised when I opened the box and found a very decent bass indeed. All the parts are, of course, the cheapest possible. The chrome hardware is a bit uneven, pots are those cheap split shaft versions, the pickguard is a bit rough around the edges, but everything is right in the places where it really matters. The neck is straight, the frets are even and the fret ends are very smooth. The pickups sound good without any hiss or hum. The bass is very light, I'm fairly certain it weighs in at less than 4 kg.
One other good thing wa the factory setup. It came with a fairly low action and good intonation. It was even pretty much in tune out of the box. These things don't really matter in the long run, of course, but considering it's an entry level instrument, and most buyers probably don't know how to setup a bass, it's nice to know this is done properly.
I can recommend this bass to anyone seeking a backup bass, or even a main player if you're low on cash. This can easily play in the same league as a Squier, and for a fraction of the price.
Great bass!!!!
I bought this as a bass to use for the band I'm in and it's exceptional, good quality of sound, amazing playability, I must say that if your in need of a good bass this is it!!!!
Big Bass
This a nice bass for the price, its well construction and it feels very sturdy and the combination of white pickguard against the black body is striking, and the weight is well balanced.
Harley Benton PB-20 BK Standard
im not a bass player at a all but a guitarist that thought id like a dabble at bass. after the sucsess ive had with harley benton guitars i thought ill try there basses.
FEATURES :
Well every thing seems to be there the tuners seem to be substantial enough to cope with the strings. everything is solid and where it should be and seems to be sturdy and of decent quality.
SOUND :
Sounds like a bass should do to me. As a starter on bass it seems the sound is all there and i get the sounds i want nice tight bass slap not wallowy and buzzy.
QUALITY :
as with every thing harley benton ive bought the quality for the price is unbeliable. the finish is flawless the fit and quality of things is good. if it had a name that started with SQ or even the big F id belive it was one.
Harley Benton Bass
Bass guitar arrived within 4 days in good condition.
Really good value. Bought this guitar for my grandson. The action is high although not unusual for a Precision style bass.Good tone and machine heads solid.
Not bad for this price!
I opted to leave my nice basses behind when I made the move overseas. After getting the itch to start playing again, I started looking for something cheap that I wouldn't mind leaving behind or selling before I head home. After playing this for a bit I think I'll take it back with me.
It's light, plays fast, and is reasonably well-built. With a few minor upgrades it would be on-par with a bass much more expensive. I'd recommend this to beginners, amateurs, or pros who want something they're not afraid to toss around a bit. Pair it with a solid amp and you'll be happy.
my second Harley Benton bass...
Another great product from Harley Benton, the only reason I gave four stars instead of five for sound and quality is that I'm judging it against my Harley Benton JB-75 which came with Wilkinson pickups and d'addario strings. If I'd bought this first and didn't have such an excellent bass to judge it against I'd have given it five stars all round...
This is great P bass, has a good weight not too heavy unlike some other basses in it's price range. I really like the neck slightly chunkier than the Jazz bass neck, all in all a great looking and sounding bass.
Pros:
-Stays in tune fairly well.
-Pickups sound ok.
-No extra humming or buzzing.
-After a setup its plays nice.
-No flaws in the body finish.
Cons:
-Wiring is no the best, but what can you except at this price.
-Pickguard had some unfinished edges.
Overall:
Ok, sounding bass for occasional bass jamming at home.
Great starter bass
Great bass if you're just starting out, surprisingly good sound and quality of build for the price.
Purchased because I needed a bass guitar to use for recording purposes, Harley benton products never disappoint.
Fully recommend
