I absolutely love this bass

I have be honest, I own a good bit of bass guitars but this particular one is most definitely worth the buy. I have a few expensive basses and I rate this bass with them. I must also speak on the shipping, only took about 3 days; so I’m pleased with that as well. Don’t think twice get this bass, sounds amazing!!

Great cheap 5 string bass!

Sounds, looks and feels good. But it had sharp frets and the pickguard looks kinda bad.

Good bass on a budget

It was my first bass guitar and it is everything you need it to be for a beginner

Awesome

I wasn't expecting much for a bass at this price, but it genuinely blew my mind how good this sounds, and the build quality is fantastic

Amazing 5 stringer

I bought this baby 3 years ago. It’s amazing. I use it for recording all the time. Amazing sound through my amp.

B string is a little bit quiet, but you can just turn up the volume.

Nut wasn’t glued. Noticed when I was changing the strings. I glued it myself.

These are beginner basses, for someone to either get used to 5 stringer or longer scale, but it is amazing, and can be used for gigging and recording, like I do.

I love the bass. Never gonna get rid of it.

*make sure you do the whole setup when you get it. It’s not hard, you can do it yourself with couple of youtube videos.

good bass

This is one of the best basses of this price range. It has a good sound and a good feel. It also doesn't need to be changed/modified to be useful.

Awesome 5 string PJ!

5 string P basses are very hard to find, particularly at this price point this is at. This bass is awesome!

Great bass, amazing value!

I read the reviews and just went for it. Like some before me stated: I’m a guitarist but wanted a bass for playing and recording tracks in my small project studio. And it’s a great choice for both.

Bass sounds nice, a bit on the quiet side with passive PUs. Neck feels smooth and stabile. Controls usable, P-sound, J-sound and with both PUs mixed it has a voice on its own. It can be quite punchy or growly, depending on playing style.

Setup was remarkably good, bass was playable out of the box. I still didn’t change strings since I got it - because why fix it if it isn’t broken. I plan to paint the cavities with insulating paint for less humm and noise once I find the time. Also planning to wrap the pickguard in flat black foil as the original pickguard is kinda “salami-like”.

Would recommend it mos def. The build quality and setup convinced me to take the Harley Benton brand into serious consideration for future guitar and bass purchases. It’s great to have the option of playing such a usable bass for a very reasonable price. It’s s joy!

And it’s a bit of a paradox that while I give it 4/5 in all categories, overall it gets 5/5, but that’ due to its awesome price-performance ratio.

Great value, love it, would recommend to everyone

As an electric guitarist who knows nothing about bass, much less about those with more than 4 strings, this is a good bass for those who want to explore their options.

Personally I'm happy with everything about the instrument, except the noticeable neck dive, which I presume to be a quirk of having 5 tuning pegs at the headstock.

Fantastic starter's guitar

For such a cheap product it sure packs a punch. Have been using this heavily and am very happy with the sound. It feels a good, solid guitar in the hands.

unreal for the price

As a lefty, i flipped the strings and cut a grove in the nut for the B string. man, I’ve never played a left handed 5 string bass that sounded or played like this. the tones out of an ampeg 500 make it competitive. I mean if you like 5 string p bass, try find something better for even double the price.

Good bass for your money

In general, everything is probably good!

From the deeds you can get to the bottom of the tone and volume knobs, they are plastic, this is not very pleasant to the touch. I did not find anything else from the disadvantage. Perhaps one of the peculiarities of the assembly of all guitars is a thin layer of varnish, through which you can see the pieces of gluing of the timber, which are very different in color.

Plus, this is a very convenient and thin body, my telecaster has a thicker one, I did not expect this.

Very good for low price!

I bought this guitar for home use. Very good sound, the neck is moderately playable, the fittings are excellent, the appearance is very good! I am very happy! I recommend it!

Great Bass for the value!

This is just a fantastic bass for the money. With shipping to the US it was just about $200. I found no flaws in the workmanship and the bass is much nicer looking in hand than in the photos. Those folks who said they didn't like the pick guard, I wonder if they actually removed the plastic from it. Because mine looks great. This bass took very little tweaking right of of the box. And with a good beefy strap there is no head drop. I have five other bass guitars, most of which cost a LOT more money, and this one has become my favorite.

I don't think I'll ever need another bass

I'm a guitarist, and wanted to give bass a go, without spending too much money in case it wasn't my thing. But honestly, this bass is so good I don't think I'll need an upgrade, it's perfect for me to noddle around and add some bass lines to my compositions. It may no be perfect for a professional bassist, but it's amazing the build quality and massive sound you can get for this price. The only thing I don't like about this bass is the pickguard, I think HB could have chosen a more aesthetically pleasant one.

So impressed

So impressed at the quality of this bass considering the price.

I used it to play in a county cover band here in Canada. Shipping was extremely fast... I received the bass in just 6 days after it shipped from Germany!

The only con is the next profile, I found it a bit too large for my hands. I would probably go with a Modern D shape neck next time.

It's so good and so cheap

It's not a boutique bass costing $$$, but it exceeded all my expectations. It feels like a decent bass, plays like a decent bass and I love the tone, the pickups are fine, lots of middle lows. It doesn't have the slap snap sound like a jazz bass, but I can get it with EQ.

I've had none of the issues mentioned earlier. I adjusted the pickup heights and all strings sing perfectly. The headstock weight is fixed with a leather strap. It's not too heavy btw. The best thing is the neck, no sharp frets, no lumps, just nice quality.

The only minor 'cheap' things about it are the pickup poles are slightly out of alignment, makes no difference to sound. The pickguard is horrible, but I've already made two really cool ones out of blank sheets using the old one as a stencil, black and brown tort. You could even just spray it another colour. There are some minor polishing omissions on the fretboard and body, but hey??

I got a great bass to get me into 5 string, no regrets at all, get one.

Pleasantly Surprised

The materials, workmanship, build, setup and sound is just fantastic for a bass in this price range. I could not have been more pleased about this purchase.
