Harley Benton ST-Junior BK Standard Series Reviews
Impossible to play in tune!
Bought this guitar for my granddaughter. The reviews were pretty good so I thought this should be a good value. Took the guitar out of the box and it seemed all fine. Tuned it up and strummed a chord. Horrible! Perhaps the strings needed a little stretching. Again, tuned it, strummed a chord. Horribly not in tune. Got out my chromatic tuner. Tuned it up and checked the note on the second fret and every string was sharp between 18 and 38 cents. That's a LOT! This is the first time I've ever experienced this bad of fret intonation - or lack of! Perhaps I got a lemon. Or perhaps quality and quality control on Harley Benton has gone down. Based on the guitar I received, I recommend staying away from this one!
sounds bad until you get everything sorted
got this for my kid, the strings are terrible, the frets edges are rough, the tuners are poor quality. so to make it playable you must be prepared to spend more afterwards.
Great guitar for smaller hands.
I got this guitar for my young son. He seems to be really enjoying it. The only thing I saw that it was lacking was a setup. Which to be fair most new guitars need a setup anyway.
It's crazy how you can get a functional guitar for this low price
I got this guitar for one of my cousins; he is 12 and wanted to start playing electric guitar after he heard me doodle on mine.
The guitar stays in tune fairly well; the action was not great, but it's playable out of the gate. There were no frets sticking out or anything like that, but with the strings the guitar came with, I would instantly get rid of them and place a decent pair on it, and it made a huge difference in the sound. The knobs and the volume switch feel kind of loose, but they do their job.
I would totally recommend this to a kid or someone that isn't sure if he is going to stick with the instrument and just get a feel for it and eventually move to a better instrument, but for the price, you couldn't ask for more.
frets so sharp it could cause harm, heavier than my tele
I bought this for my three year old as I thought my squier bullet mustang was too heavy for him, well this thing is probably twice the weight! anyway where do harley benton get their wood from? tree stumps left in fields somewhere I think. the frets are the worst I have even seen in my 30 years of playing, the thing is I cannot even be bothered to send it back so I took 80 grit sand paper out of frustration and blasted the neck with no care for finish just to knock the razor sharps sticking out edges off, it worked to a point but still. look I don't want to be negative but I have had three harley bentons in my time and they are lifeless boat anchor pieces of junk.
Harley benton jt junior
I recommend this guitar because for this price they have a nice built the sound is so great and the packaging is so good I recommend this guitar
I bought this guitar specifically to dismantle and rebuild, after modification, as a baritone ukulele! Neck width reduced, 2 machine heads removed, bridge and nut replaced. Pickups changed. All works a treat. Very happy with my second experiment

Tuners will not hold guitar in tune

I was surprised by the size of this guitar and did not believe until recently that it was a full-fledged instrument, not a toy. When I connected it, I was really surprised by its sound and the convenience of the game. I like to travel sometimes and always take her with me. I am completely satisfied with the purchase, an excellent tool for its price
Amazing little guitar for it price
Bought it for my little girl but i find myself playing it a lot.
Good for playing while seating on the couch because its size. Quality is amazing for it price
very good quality
I bought this guitar for my 5 year old grandson due to the fact he was always wanting to beast mine with his vicious strumming..He just stands there like a rock star making one hell of an ear shrivelling noise lol...but it is still going strong with the original strings and suprisingly stays in tune quite well due his abuse :)
the size of this guitar fits him really well :)
Not bad, but could use some improvements.
I bought this for my 9 year old. He wanted an electric guitar, so when I saw this one, I bought it right away. For this price point, you do expect certain things to be of lesser quality and I'm totally fine with that since I can correct a lot of those issues myself.
My main issue is with tuning instability. The neck is thin and can be moved easily. This creates a bit of wobble in the stability of notes and chords. My son is constantly asking me to re-tune his guitar. The strings should have settled by now, yet the guitar keeps going out of tune very easily.
I'm not a luthier, and this is my unexperienced observation, but seems to me that the way the neck is set into the neck pocket, makes the neck move when slight pressure is applied. Perhaps it should be set in a little further into the body to ensure proper stability.
The pickups sound very good, the proportions of the guitar is perfect for children, and the action can be set low enough for easy playing. Your experience may vary, as quality control may not be to the standard of higher end guitars, but all in all this is a good guitar.
Just perfect instrument, for begginers, for kids, or for experimentators. For the prize I was expecting way less than I got. So now I just can't stop playing this small beauty.
Just that strings feels better to play when they are tuned higher, from A instead of E. Otherwise it was maybye too low, and it was buzzing slightly or you could overtuned the tone while pressing too much on the string.
My Kids LOVES it...
This Guitar is a super start for our kids to adventure into the world of electric music...
beautiful,wellmade,perfect for kids
Awesome built quality
I think the fretboard is made of Amaranth as it has that purpleish in it :D and it looks lovely. The built quality is stunning for this price range; neck and body fit is just perfect and the bridge is in line with it all. Nut is also cut well. Pickups were too high and too close to the strings but that is an easy fix (lower the pickups so they are flush with the pickguard). All in all, very happy with this and will give it to my 4 yo boy as a Xmass gift!
Great little guitar
Bought this guitar for my young daughter. She loves it.
I was very impressed with the quality, playability and set up. Looks nice too. I was surprised how heavy the guitar was for the size. maybe a bit too heavy. Would have been nice if it included a cheap strap.
Overall very happy with it.
Junior Guitar
Bought for my litter sister. Not the best sound off the guitar and poor construction. Maybe it was just my one but a few months after getting it I started getting problems. Had to adjust the action, the neck of the guitar was skewed, doesn't hold strings in tune. All-round I was disappointed in it. Don't think ill be buying anymore Harley Bentons
Great sound and quality finish but wont stay in tune!
Bought this for my partner who has small hands and was struggling with my full size guitars.
Straight out the box, quality and tone are excellent for this size of guitar and for the price. For the price I really shouldn't complain but the constant need to retune the guitar after every song and practice exercise mean sadly it probably wont get much use and is more of a novelty than decent instrument. Maybe some locking tuners will help and I am considering them
Great quality of build, pickups somewhat cheap
For kids and beginners this is a great little guitar. And for the price it's a best buy. But be aware of weight.
Pros: pricing, great build quality, good frets, nicely finished. A great beginner guitar.
Neutrals :) Pickups are somehow what you would expect at this price level, not great sounding but you could always replace them. Although I think that's not the point
Cons: The guitar is is on the heavy side for its size, especially as it's meant to be used by kids. And tuners are on the cheap side and you can feel that every time you need them, which is quite often.
