Harley Benton SC-500 BK Vintage Series 4-stars Reviews
Very Easy To Get Use To Play
Construction is very well built and heavy in weight.
Amazing build for the price
What you are getting for the price paid is amazing. Finish is perfect, the binding is almost flawless, the weight is spot on, the neck is nice and thick to play even though is it painted. However, there are some details worth mentioning:
- The pickups are super microphonic, waxing needed. They sound a little dark but they are totally usable.
- Some frets are high, this is annoying but might be an issue not all guitars have.
- Tuners does not help with tuning stability. They are cheap and replacement is needed.
- Bridge is a little unstable. Same as the tuners, replace it!
I bought this guitar mainly to upgrade basically everything so no issues for me. Fret work is definitely needed so I have to buy tools for that, but I also bought this guitar to learn how to properly do a set up. So for me this guitar is perfect.
It's good! Not perfect but good.
They are a great price and with a little tweak they play well and have a good tone. even though there are some places where the body was scratched. As a result this guitar is good. Especially when you look at the price. You will not find a better deal anywhere else in South Korea.
The Best First Guitar
This is my first electric guitar and i love it! I think is the higher value for money rate easily. you will notice some quality issues, but hey, is under 200 euro guitar!
If you wound to buy your first les paul guitar and you dont want to spent more than 200 euros buy it with no doubt.
Balls beyond what you thought possible for under $150
Spec'd faithfully after the classic single cut solid body neck through classic we all know and love. Played blind by a Gibson enthusiast, it proved indiscernible from its' forebear, the humbuckers run hot and provide all that brown, fat tone you could get spending 50 times as much or more, or learn that the brand logo on the headstock doesn't do a thing for the tone...
Great and for the price unbeatable
A good Les Paul alike with good hardware and great sound. I have a total of 4 HB Les Paul's types and cannot fault them. Fret ends on the cheaper models need tidying a bit and the 2 top of the range models quality is fantastic how they do them for the price I have no idea.
Great Mod Platform
This is basically the ideal modding platform. Upon arrival it was mostly in tune, with decent stability, reasonable pickups and a fantastic neck. Truly it was a joy to play. However, after only a week or two the bridge pickup failed completely and the neck pickup was a bit patchy. Luckily I already had it booked in for modding. Now with a set of tonemaster pickups and new electronics, it is an awesome guitar. I highly recommend it, I use mine for everything from John Mayer and Nick Drake to Ghost and Black Sabbath.
Good for beginners
Bought this as my first one and I wasn't disappointed. Doesn't offer too much, but definitely a good choice for this price.
Very good guitar for that price
- The guitar is used at home and at rehearsals.
pros & cons
+ Low price
+ Beautiful design, the guitar looks amazing
+ Great sound for a low price
- Large gap between strings and fretboard, needs to polish frets if you want the ideal.
- One potentiometer were not tightened
The guitar could compete with more expensive guitars after the guitar was tuned in the workshop.
Also It would be better with push pull potentiometer I think.
good starter
got this guitar as my first starter after having tried some guitars at my local guitar store the sound of the electronics is nothing to write home about but good enough to start out with feels very comfortable to play (for a newcomer like me) I would suggest to change the strings when you get the guitar
Nice guitar to start with
Bought this guitar as present for my 10 years old son. And since the he plays it all the time.
Finish is good for the price - you could see bit of glue on fretboard but nothing critical.
Also it might require bit of action height adjustment because of noticeable buzz. But this is easy solvable.
Good guitar, bad strings
As for the guitar itself, it plays really smooth and has a good sound to it. The frets are very well done and the neck hasn't got any sharp edges, which I didn't expect from a guitar as cheap as this one.
The strings however, are quite bad. But after replacing them with a set of D'Addario's, it's just a perfectly good guitar.
The only real downside is the very cheap looking scratchplate, but I prefer to play without one, so no problem for me there.
All in all very happy with this guitar.
Great guitar for beginners
At the price the guitar is of great value. Ideal for beginners as it is not a huge investment but still a nice instrument.
You take what you buy
If you want playing guitar, practising the guitar or to start learning guitar, this is a good value for money guitar and good looking also. I bought it for my son and its sound perfect for his lessons. Sometimes i also practising too with HB and it has good feeling. it has a stoner rock desert sound. Perfect buying, fast delivery.
Really nice guitar
not the most fancy or the best quality but for the price its a great lokking and sounding guitar. i love playing it and wil defenetly recomend this to anyone that wants or needs a good guitar.
