A great guitar, in my opinion, better than an epiphone! Good job Harley Benton! I heard a lot of good things about them, and now i'm very happy about my choise.

This rocks it out of the park

Easy to play, great access to notes, split coil, little to no fingerprints, and is a total shredder machine.

Harley Benton SC 500 Custom

Purchased this guitar a while ago now and I have to say the quality is great, playable straight from the box, no nasty surprises here, everything you would expect from a top quality guitar, it sounds great much better than my Epiphone DC , okay these are different types of guitar but I prefer the HB, In fact after a lot of web surfing for another guitar I have ordered the Harley Benton CST-24T ( Paradise Flame ) & am awaiting delivery, hopefully this will be just as good as my SC 500 Custom

Great guitar at an even better price

It's pretty, plays and sounds great. Didn't even need a setup at arrival. About a year after purchase the pickup selector started to make some trouble, but nothing that couldn't be fixed. It does amazing for the price.

This is an excellent and well made guitar. I cant find any reason to fault it or criticize it. I loved the look to begin with when seeing it on the website, but then after ordering and receiveing the guitar i was even more impressed.

The guitar is immaculate. Everything is finished immaculately. The paint job and binding is perfect. The neck is straight and the frets are excellent. The grover tuners are holding there tune fine. The Roswell passive pick ups are excellent too. They can do warm and pristine cleans, and are throaty and clear for high gain metal too.

From my experience with this guitar i would highly recommend it too anyone interested in this style of guitar.

Sick!

i've been playing this guitar for now 10 months and...

For the price is an expectacular guitar, i thought for this price is not going to be a really good quality guitar, but i have no words, the sounds is amazing. The pickups work really nice, they manage the distortion very well and they give a pretty good clean sound.

The shape of guitar is very comfortable, i dont feel any distrubs at the time i play, u can feel it is good quality and the paint doesn't go off as they old version made in Vietnam.

The pickups switch is a little bit lower quality but it still works, it maybe can bring little problems but nothing u can't fix, i recommend change it for one higher quality.

Appart from that is everything really good, tuners keep the string in tune very well, the neck is comfortable and it has a good reach for last frets (22).

I absolutely recommend this guitar, is over expectations for this price!

Smooth player, decent sound

I always wanted a LP style but never could find one at the price I could afford. The matte finish and gold hardware looks straight up metal, fretwork is nice, neck is decently fast. My only complaint is the pups, all crunch and no smoothness with a rectified high gain. Blues type stuff is on point. Tuning stability is questionable I don’t know if I need a string butler or maybe lube the nut. It seems to go out of tune just slightly often. But the price beats all.

Impeccable execution.

I liked the guitar very much in terms of performance. I have not found a single cosmetic flaw. In terms of mechanics and technology, everything is also fine. The strings from the factory are low, nothing rings, the scale is perfectly tuned. The sound is interesting. The short scale gives a thicker sound than my Ibanez. As for the guitar as a whole, there are only 2 small remarks: the push-pool regulator turns more easily than the other two, which seems to be good, but it immediately catches the eye and the switch for 3 positions is set slightly diagonally, and not straight. But this is all very easy to get better.

Personally, only the body is not very familiar to me. Superstrat is much more convenient and comfortable for me. This hull has a clear bias towards the hull side. This must be taken into account if you have never dealt with this type of case, it is better to try it in advance with friends or in a store.

Good guitar

The guitar came in an improper state.

With a very high string action: 4-5 mm for the bass string.

And with a VERY dirty fretboard.

Fortunatelly, it was needed only to lower the bridge. The truss rod was already properly set up. Now the guitar sounds almost without buzzing.

Pros

- the sound is just good

- good playability, comfortable neck

- nice look

- lightweight

- machine heads

Cons

- 2-3 working days between ordering and shipping

- improper state on delivery

- flaws of finish that I don't realy care

To sum up

- it's a very good guitar for beginners and advanced players

- it costs every cent

- perhaps, it's worth of replacing pickups later

Black Beauty

Of the seven HBs I have, this one is one of the best. It looks, feels and plays great. The coil split isn't as useful as others but is nice to have. I have seen earlier reviews which show that the strap locks don't lock. Mine do so it appears that that problem has been addressed. I have also seen a review showing the gold finish rubbing off the hardware after some use. Mine hasn't done that but I haven't played it much, yet. This is not uncommon with gold hardware but I hope it won't affect it too quickly. Cleaning it regularly after use should help.

Beyond that, this guitar compares favourably with the DC-Custom for quality of build and finish. Those two are the pick of the bunch. The fretboard wasn't dry like most and I haven't treated it, yet, however, after sitting for a while there appears to be some kind of tarnish or discolouration on some frets, particularly on the upper fretboard, that wasn't present before. That's not nice but I will give them a light buff when I restring it and it hasn't obviously affected playability.

There are some other minor things which I have noted:

-The tone knob does suffer just slightly from being misaligned. It's not enough to be problematic. See my other reviews for more on this. The volumes both seem fine.

-There is a very tiny spot in one place on the binding. It's nothing.

-Some minor scrapiness around the pot recess plate.

-A few screws installed badly on the recess covers.

Overall this is a nice guitar. The matt finish is very nice, it looks good, plays well, has a through-neck, sleek, contoured lines and, at the price, is a great way to get that 'LP' experience without the thousand-dollar price tag. Buy it.

Unbelievable value for the price.

I own several guitars, five of them are in the $150-$250 price range. This is by far and away the best quality low priced guitar I have ever owned. It's not even close. It's easily a mid-range guitar for a rock bottom price. This SC Custom II has a great set up right out of the box. It stays in tune quite nicely. Pick ups are solid, but nothing amazing. Neck feels super comfortable and easy to play. Grover tuners feel very nice. I didn't need to mess with intonation at all. The only thing I did was file the nut a bit to accommodate heavier strings. Regardless of price, it's one of the most beautiful single cut Les Paul style guitars out there. My only con is that it isn't as ergonomic to play as a strat while sitting in your lap, but it's not huge deal. This is hands down the best bang for your buck guitar out right now. Just buy it!

Amazing Guitar Far Exceeds Expectations

I bought a B-Stock version of this guitar so was expecting some minor marks, but I was wrong it was absolutely perfect, a beautiful looking guitar. After tuning the guitar it played perfectly, the action was perfect, the Grover tuners are smooth and hold tune. Having it fitted with Daddario strings means no need to change the strings a ritual that is normal on most affordable guitars. The satin black finish looks great. The pickups are good, and if you dial the amp in sound really good far beyond their price. Just to give perspective my other guitars are a Gibson and a Fender so my praise is earned, this is a really good guitar can recommend it without hesitation at the price it is almost impossible to beat. Nice touch was the strap locks that are included. Still looking for something I did not like not found it yet.

Overall Great guitar for the price

Body style and build are fantastic, a real breathtaking guitar to look at from the body and neck to the hardware.

Tuners could use some work, i may switch them out. The bridge pickup throws out some nice gain but in my experience it isnt as crisp as I'd like, sticking to the mid-low range.

Great guitar for the cost, although I had some cons, you really can't get a better guitar at the cost.

A good budget guitar from HB

Pros:

Woods - solid Mahogany body and chunky set-in neck makes it feel so good and comfortable to play.

Built - the set up is good that you could just take it of the box then play it. No buzz no strange noise at all.

Cons:

Pickups - sounds muddy on higher strings in neck position

Finishing - the binding was a bit off and left some glue around the edge, satin looks good no problem at all, no sharp fret edges. The strap locks are bit rusty.

Generally its a good budget guitar for this price point and I couldn't ask for more, it feels good playing it straight without any setup. I would definitely switch pots and seymour duncan PU in the future but I'm satisfied on what I had from this guitar.

Just great

This is a serious good guitar. For the price, you have an excellent LP style rock guitat that gets the job done.

I would take this on stage anytime. It delivers the goods!
