This is a really great instrument

Especially when you consider it's a budget instrument. I would say you can't go wrong with this as a good starting point for slide guitar learning. I love it and so glad I went for it :)

The only thing I would say is that I'm going to get the Dunlop LapDawg to go with it, because the bullet that comes with it is a little tricky to hold and I think it would be easier to play with something a bit more ergonomic. But that of course is not about the instrument itself.

Also, it may sound obvious, but if you've never played slide before, do not expect to grasp the feel of playing straight away... The theory of playing is of course the same as a normal guitar but this is a different instrument in it's own right. Just give it time to get used to it :)

It is decent for a $70 wood plank with strings and pickup.

The sound is dull, and mid-range. The tuner goes out of tune easily, and is difficult to operate. Replace the tuner and pickup and you will have a $300 lapsteel.

The bullet steel is heavy, in a good way but I prefer to the shape of a soapbar steel more.

If you are looking to get a taste of an electric lapsteel, this is a cheap good start!

lap steel (more like lap steal)

Been a big fan of the sound of the lap steel for years. Two of my favourite bands Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode make great use of them, so when I seen the price of these I jumped on it and I've not been disappointed, I've had this for about a year now and still love it the quality is excellent stays perfectly in tune and the volume and tone controls work very well allowing for a great range of sounds. Put a heavier set of strings on it as I'm a bit heavy handed. Looks great too a real talking point at the gigs I've used it at.

All in all very pleased with it.

How Much?

Can't believe how much this Lap Steel offers for the money.

Sounds fantastic, quality is impeccable and is a great introduction into the world of Lap Steel.

As a guitarist of 10 years I was looking for a way to get into Lap Steel, without spending too much money in case it wasn't for me. The HB Slider II delivers in bucket loads. With a simple yet sleek design, metallic finish and quality parts.

It came with a gig-bag, lead and tonebar. So you're all set out of the box.

Really enjoying learning to play it and it's nice not being held back by the tuning issues and bad electronics you'd expect from an instrument at this price.

Better than expected

I mean, for this price, you can never get an instrument like this. I didn't know how to play properly, but I've learned with this Pedal Steel. I've tuned in C6 (C-E-G-A-C-E) and first time when I've tuned the higher E, I've broke the string. So when you buy this, make sure that you are buying a spare strings too. In rest, sounds well, tonebar comes in a nice wooden box, the people who come to me said that looks like a lap steel guitar who cost more than 200 pounds and they were surprised when I've told them that cost less then 60 pounds. I'm very happy with it :)

Good slider!

I bought this to experiment with and record in a few country songs - and am really happy with it!

It's well built and easy to hold / lay on your lap, and overall has a really good and adjustable sound! You can get bluesy tones out of it, country sounds and tropical Hawaiian sounds too!

I'm never standing up again.

My friend bought me this for my birthday. It's awesome. The sound is great. It's very affordable, which was lucky for my cheap friend, and it looks great.

And you don't need to stand up. You can be that guy who's sitting down while everyone else is standing up, except drummer, they always have it so easy with their comfy seats, don't they, but know you can be even cooler because you can sit down rock-out at the same time, in a slider kind of way.

Another cool thing is the average person can't even figure out how the slider works, so you look like a musical genius for being able to play it, even though it is just a guitar with no frets.

It's a definite buy for anybody who likes slider guitar, and who is looking at one of their old Les Paul's and thinking of tearing all the frets off it to make a slider Les Paul, which i had already done before my friend bought me this as a gift, but i don't regret in the slightest.

I advice you put heavier strings on than the factory strings you get with it. I slapped some 13 gauge strings on her and she sings.

Oh, little warning- if you use 13 gauge on a normal electric guitar you have to down tune or you'll warp your neck.

For the price don't thin twice

For beginners or if you wanna test how much you're actually gonna play that instrument before buying one that's worth a little apartment. This slider sounds really good and can be optimized with a good amp + DAW. If you know how, no one could ever guess this is <100? piece of instrument you're playing here.

Impressive!

I am drummer but i also love the sound of guitar and i wanted to try a lap steel guitar to help me produce in the studio...

I have to say even know i bought a buget item this guitar has a incredible good sound for its price!

I've had it for some time now and i had no problems.

I started using it with a cello bow and the strings are strong.

Thank you! I recommend!

Excellent product

Really happy with this, lovely tone and good value for money. Bought this as a present and my husband has used it many times, it's a pleasure to use he says and as good as all the reviews we saw on it. I would not hesitate to recommend this product to anyone.

VERY GOOD VALUE

i highly recommend this product its a great little steel guitar , which had very fast delivery and came with a lead and a tonebar (in a really nice lilte box ) a gig bag with back staps and a pocket to fit a lead tonebar notepad and your fingerpicks or anything else you needvery handy. Im going to use it for country and westrn swing recordings so i have used C6 tuning o nit and it plays well. has a single coil pup which works very well and although t the steel is very basic it is very good. it is better than any other steel guitar at the price and beats llots of more expensive models . just begace its Cheap doesnt mean its nasty its not a cheap unplayable instrument its a great value instrument for players of all abilitys

Satisfying quality for super cheap

Could you believe that you could get an adequate string instrument for less than a hundred euros?

If you're gonna use your lap steel guitar a lot, get a better one. But if you're going to play it mostly for your own joy every now and then, then this one will do real good. I guess the "trick" in the price and surprisingly satisfying quality is that a lap steel guitar can't have intonation problems, because the strings aren't pressed down to the frets. Thus the most usual problem with cheap guitars is eliminated. I've found the tuners to keep their tune and the microphones aren't bad either.

The volume and tone dials are the only things screwed up, as my volume doesn't mute when I twist it to 0. The tone dial also affects the volume. Still, because I don't play this one in concert, I'm pretty happy with it, especially considering the price.

Slide guitar

With this product, I found out it takes a slide guitar playing technique to get that slide guitar sound. I can produce on regular electric guitar everything this gadget does. It's practically just a piece of plastic with strings and a pickup attached to it. If you really know how to play these things, you might get somewhere with this, to me it sounds just like any other guitar.

Great to learn on

This is a great lapsteel to learn on. The pickup is not bad through the amp, although I like double coil better, but that I would be an easy upgrade. With the tonebar it is a nice package. The strings are for the C6 tuning but I changed them for an open E, so I looked it over and am very satisfied.

Fantastic lap steel

The first lap steel I bought to learn to play on, it is amazing quality for its money in looks, quality, playability, and sound.

As good as any top class slide guitar, this thing plays like a dream. Very highly recommended. Another world class piece from Harley Benton.
