Harley Benton TE-62CC SFG Reviews
Better than you think
This tele is great for everyone looking for a good tele that won’t break the bank. Personally I have been enjoying every second of it. The color is stunning, the fretboard and overall structure of the guitar is great. Of course don’t expect expensive tuners but they work just fine. All in all very satisfied :)
Holey smoke
What a guitar for such price. Flabbergasted!
You can't really go wrong - great guitar for the price (even for a higher price)
Just got this today, arrived in less than a week after ordering (EU area) which was impressive given it was over Easter. Nicely packaged, so there was little risk it being damaged in transit.
Out of the box it felt really great, once the strings were tuned up I was playing away quite happily. Intonation was pretty much spot on, only the G is a little out but I'm talking a miniscule amount, to the point where I probably won't even adjust it. Action set up was perfect too, no fret buzz and clear notes when playing up the fretboard.
Fretboard itself is satin finish so if you're used to a gloss finished you may find it a bit dry. I've yet to play it for a few hours so will see what it feels like after that. It may need a little oil. No sharp edges on the frets, and they all seem the right height. Tuners feel solid too and so far are holding the tuning.
Plugged in and run through pedals and an amp, it sounds great. I compared it to my G&L Bluesboy and it's very similar on the bridge pick up, in fact a little brighter, with a fair bit of bite. It doesn't have the beefiness of the G&L on the middle or neck setting, as the G&L has a humbucker in that position, but even still the Harley Benton holds up when using fuzz and distortion. I'm looking forward to getting in the room with my band to see how it sounds.
Looks-wise, it is perfect - the colour is fantastic and the lime green pickguard really shines. The neck is a dark roasted maple which is really set off nicely by the colour. No imperfections as far as I can see, paint work is perfect, and the whole thing is solid and feels good.
Only negative aspect so far is the plastic used to cover the neck pickup, controls, and pick guard - I had to take the pots off to fully remove the plastic, and even at that there's still a bit stuck under that I can't get rid of. I've had that problem with other guitar brands so it's not particular to Harley Benton.
In total, for the price it's a no-brainer. I've owned Fender and Squire telecasters, as well as G&L, and so far this stands up to them in terms of initial feeling and sound. Be a perfect guitar for travelling, or throwing in the back of the van when touring without having to worry too much about it. Definitely suitable for beginners, but I would also encourage experienced guitarists to try this brand - you'll be pleasantly surprised.
A great instrument at any price
Wonderful to play, sounds great. Huge range of tones, from clean jazz to heavy rock. Be ready to fine tune it: truss rod / action / intonation. But if you can do that (or have your local guitar shop do it), you'll have a wonderful instrument.
Lovely T style
Guitar arrived in perfect condition. Fit and finish are excellent. It has a wonderful, slick neck. One of the best I've played. The original pickups were good, but I upgraded to Fender Vintage 64s. Sounds awesome. Also upgraded the tuners and saddles with Wilkinson products and installed a Fender switch. This guitar plays as good as my Fender MIM Tele and with the Vintage 64 pickups, sounds even better. I've purchased a few HB guitars before but this is the best one so far.
A great telecaster
I played many telecasters, from cheapest to very expensive models. This one is just as good as any real more expensive quality tele. I was honestly surprised, didn't expect this level of quality. The neck is very smooth, comfortable and well made, baked maple makes it special. The pickups are very good also, sounds like a tele. Tuners aren't the greatest but they are more than adequate. All in all, best money I've ever spent on an electric guitar!
Awesome instruments for that price
I was pretty sceptical about it due to price, but finally decided to try and what can I say - it's great sounding, awesome looking tele with perfect build quality for reasonable price. Highly recommend for anyone who wants "that twangy tele tone" without paying whole salary for fender.
Beautiful guitar for the price
Just a beginner guitar player but this is a beautiful looking and sounding guitar for the price.
Great Guitar Value for Money
TE62CC is a great guitar and outperforms its price tag. I lowered the action a bit but otherwise played great straight out of the box
Excellent quality
Absolutely no flaws. No fret sprout. I am amazed at how well this guitar is made.
Wow! Best one yet
I now am the proud owner of 4 Harley Bentons, an SC Special, a CST 24T Deluxe, a TE-52 Natural finish with 22 frets and now this amazing TE-62 SFG.
Each one had some minor set up requirements but the TE-62 was amazing straight out of the box, Slight tweak on the truss rod, lowered the action to required taste and that was it. Intonation spot on, frets are really nice, no sharp ends or high frets, tuners work really well and electronics all work as expected. Can't complain at all.
Also, I'm really pleased with the Surf Green it looks fantastic. HB really knocked it out of the park with this one.
Highly recommended, 5 stars all the way. *****
Fantastic for the price
Fantastic budget guitar.
I can't really fault this guitar apart from the finger board radius being a little flat for my preference. Paint colour and neck look fantastic. Perhaps could do with better tuners for performing. I adjusted the trussrod and the varnish around the plastic insert chipped a little, but other wise I can't fault this guitar for the price that it was
Love it
Bought this tele-a-like and a dakota red strat-a-like at the same time. This is a nice as the strat-a-like. Great to play straight out of the box, though improved a little by lowering the action. No faults, lovely fast matt neck
good finish and look, but bad "buzzing"
The guitar was well packaged and in arrived in good condition. Immediately after unpacking it looked great. I only noticed 1 very small issue on the paint, but I could easily accept it. The guitar is a looker. The only thing that I could't understand was the buzzing of the strings. 12th fret action was 3 mm on 6th string and 2.5 mm on 1st string and the guitar "buzzed" all over the neck.
I think this guitar might be a good first guitar, but it doesn't look and feel like a real instrument. I don't think it also makes sense to upgrade it.
Brilliant guitar!
I absolutely LOVE this line of Harley Benton TE-62CC's. I now own one in Seafoam Green, Shell Pink, and Charcoal Frost.
Easily worth more than x3 the price.
I own a Squier Telecaster Classic Vibe 50's, and I prefer the neck, the pickups, and the weight of this Harley Benton.
I can't say enough good things about these guitars. You WON'T regret it!
Great musical instrument
1. I really liked the production. The color is simply divine. Perfect paint job, smooth neck.
2. Tuners for 3 out of 5. Great for home use.
3. The sound is good.
From the negative
1. I received a musical instrument with uneven frets. At string heights of 2mm and 3mm there is the fret buzz. The support team helped resolve this issue. Frets need to be refinished at a service center.
But reading other reviews I see that such a problem is an exception.
In the end, I will say that I liked the musical instrument. I recommend to buy.
It's absolutely awesome!
The guitar is a killer, sounds really good! Unluckily mine arrived with a non working pickup, but it will be changed with a working one!
Great staff
Light... but lovely
So I took the plunge and bought one of these soon after they came out, bit of a Christmas prezzie! Overall I really like it, the colour is lovely - foam green in my case although I nearly went for the pink! Fit and finish are super, nicely set up, sounds great. My only real gripe is that it feels - for me - a little light in the body. I have the TE 30 which has some heft, also a TE 52, same again. These TE 62's are just a tad too light. Also would love a version really like a 62 tele with rosewood (or equivalent) fingerboard. Overall however, well worth £125 of anyone's dosh!
Really good quality for the money
The quality was greater than I expected for a EU 150 guitar. I have others guitar and I was looking for my first telecaster. I am really happy with this one. It really sounds 'twangy'. Again , HB did a great job.
Nice tele!
stunning color! no quality issues, but the setup could be a little better
