Harley Benton TE-62DB CAR Reviews
FRET SPROUTS
This is super gorgeous vintage looking guitar (Candy Apple Red), sounds great, and stay in tune. Some minor paint inconsistencies in the neck. Biggest thing here is the FRET SPROUTS all over the neck literally slicing through your skin(of course itâs not deep enough to bleed) makes it annoying to play. Lots of reviews(from website and youtube) says that it doesnât have fret sprouts and that kept my hopes high and then i get fret sprouts EVERYWHERE; disappointing. So keep in my you might get what Iâve got.
Better than guitars more than double its price
I love this little tele, itâs a beauty well made and not one single blemish on its flawless finish. Sound too, I have played some Fenders that donât sound near as good as this lovely little guitar.
Really solid good sounding Guitar
Bought this as i wanted Tele sound but on a budget. This really is quite an amazing guitar for 150 bucks. Neck is really smooth, double bound body is finished really well and the guitar came with a great setup. The sound is great and the guitar has a nice weight. Cannot fault this guitar, if you are looking for a decent Tele sound, try these guitars out.
A Really Excellent Guitar
I bought this after seeing several favourable reviews from sources I trust. I was certainly not disappointed. This really is a wonderful Telecaster copy. It looks beautiful, it sounds just like a Tele should, it plays really well and construction and finish quality on mine are beyond reproach - all for £138.00....astounding. Believe it or not, I offloaded my two other Telecasters (Squiers) because this was genuinely so much better and it's the only one I need. If you have a Tele itch that needs scratching, and aren't a brand snob, you can't go far wrong with this little gem. All I did to mine was take it for a professional setup, a few very minor tweaks to taste...even kept the original D'Addario strings it came with. It really didn't need much work at all, probably the easiest £30 my luthier guy ever made! I reluctantly loaned it to someone who had broken the headstock on his genuine Tele and he played it for a small pub gig.....no, he didn't prefer it to his Fender.....but he confessed how surprised he was by its performance. Sounded way better in his hands than it does in mine but that's the only negative experience with this guitar that I can claim. Only one thing to be aware of....the colour, Candy Apple Red, is a little bit misleading---it's red sure and it's a nice finish, but under certain light conditions it can look rather "pinkish".........just something to be aware of although it doesn't bother me and you could always buy a blue one if it's really a concern. Highly recommended. Very happy customer on this one. Get yourself one if you can.
Just great
What can I say that hasn't been said in countless youtube review videos? I just love it, bought it to re-sell it afterwards but just trying it made me realize this was a keeper. Most people change the pickups but I found these roswells to be quite lovely, the build quality is on par with the classic vibe line from squier, which is more than double the price, anything lower than that won't hold a candle to this guitar.
My fave tele
This guitar has quickly become my fave tele ever. If you're on the fence, go for it!
Great value, but frets ð³
Delivery Awesome, value for price awesome, quality awesome, appearance awesome, ........ but frets...... ð³ I guess I have to learn how to file.
Amazing Guitar!!!
I am very happy with this, such amazing tone and really affordable
£135 price tag with £500 quality
If you want to be pleasantly surprised, order the TE-62DB. This guitar has a sound quality similar to that of much pricier alternatives and I'd argue is the more stylish option thanks to its charming glitter finish and classy double binding.
The build quality of this instrument is flawless, a true feat of craftsmanship has lovingly been used to create this compelling piece of kit.
If you want a stunning Telecaster without having to break the bank, you've found it here. You won't find another tele this good in every way possible in the sub £500 category!
Holds t's own against my Fender 62 Custom
I have owned a real one for thirty years or more soo I bought two of these, one red and one blue. To the red one I added a Vega-Trem to allow more expression on my instrumental tunes as I'm primarily a Strat man. I can tell you it works perfectly but . . . . , I compared the Harley Benton with the Fender and couldn't separate them for playability & tone, I had three band members listening whilst I did an A/B comparison. From a playing point I felt equally comfortable on both the Fender & the HB and my bandmates said the sound was equal too, after I played the same parts on each guitar. We were all well impressed and I didn't have a lot of setting up to do out of the box, just string heights that's all. The Harley Benton TE-62 DB, Absolutely recommended !
Great guitar. Love it.
Had to adjust my action, but overall, very good, sexy and well made guitar.
Super quality at affordable price!
Good comms and speedy delivery and packaged extremely well. All I can say is, I wish there were guitars of this quality at affordable prices when I started playing! If you’re on the fence or, like me, just intrigued about the hype? Just get one bought!
Great guitar out the box and a fantastic mod platform
It does what a T style does and the stock pick ups have got the twang,. The double binding is a great look and the neck feels fantastic. I know it's been said before but how do they make such a good guitar for the money. I bought it to modify I wanted a nashville T style so I got a new pick guard, tonerider nashville 50s pickups, CTS pots and a five way switch. its brilliant, my best mod yet. The colour is metallic red and does have a pink tinge to it from some angles but it looks great.
Good value but.
Pro's. Out of the box it looked good, the neck feels great,no blemishes.Tuners do an ok job but i wasn't expecting that much from them anyway. Pickups sound surprisingly good so i won't be changing them.Overall a very nice first impression.
Con's. The action was high and alot of fret buzz. Lowering the action made it worse so i checked the truss rod, decent enough relief in the neck. Out with the fret rocker to see how uneven the frets were, not good.Levelled the frets and managed to get 1.75 and the treble end an 2.00 at the 12th fret bass end without too much buzz. Changing the strings every ferrule fell out of it's back pocket.Superglued back in.
To be honest for the money this is a good guitar despite the work i had to do on it. Out of the box it was not gig worthy so think about taking it to a luthier if you're planning on taking it out live. Mine i would descibe as salmon pink if you think it's going to be red. I bought a cheap guitar with low expectations so i feel i got good value for money but wouldn't buy another one.
Superb!
Came upon this great axe by accident while I was surfin demos for the Squier Telecaster Vibe series, and a nice Norwegian dude made a vs. video of said Squier and this HB Tele. Lots of other guitar gear Youtubers had the same opinion about this Tele so I decided to get my hands on one and Oh My God! Absolutely incredible action, tone, tuning, right out of the box! Delivery was a walk in the par, and this is from a guy writing this review all the way from northern México. The lead guitarist from my band has an American Telecaster worth $2k+ dlls, believe what you want, this HB Tele sounds almost the same, just almost, but for the price difference hell!, they sound the same to me. I play in a band every weekend, semi pro, and have been for 18+ years, trust me, you won’t regret this purchase.
One of the best necks out there
Even though I know that HB have been upping up their quality, I also know that it can be hit and miss, so I had low expectations, so I bough this guitar to have on my vacation home (low budget, not expecting highest quality, but decent enough). This is my 1st Harley Benton, but I can tell you I will buy more because I was blown away by the overall quality. The neck only is worth more than the price of the whole guitar, smooth satin finish (personal preference), all frets are nicely polished, all fret ends are absolutely smooth and perfect, this neck is better than the ones on my other guitars that cost 5-6 times more. It even came well set up with low action, I only had to tune it.
The only low points are a small hair line crack on the paint of the body next to the neck pocket on the side, only visible at certain angles and good light, and a bit rough volume-tone knobs. The red has some pinkish undertones depending on how the light reflects on it, but the guitar is red, period. Nothing major, and again, the neck outshines everything else. I may be an extremely lucky person, but this is my 1st HB and I got an almost perfect guitar that if you don't tell me the price, I would have told you that it was over 1000 euros.
Well worth the price..
What a great guitar. I’m a sucker for double bound guitars so when I saw this one (in candy apple red) I couldn’t resist. On arrival I was very impress, absolutely nothing wrong cosmetically not to mention the beautiful caramelised maple neck, the frets were also polished and the action and intonation were correct, only a slight tune and it was ready to go.
I’ve had this guitar for almost 10 months now and the only upgrade i’ve done was to put locking tuners on - not that the original ones were bad but just quicker/easier to change the strings.
Would I recommend this guitar -yes, Is it worth the price - oh yes.
Iâm loving it
Absolutely flawless.
A little lowering of the action and a tweak of the truss rod and it was good to go.
Nothing wrong with it the way it was delivered to me and was perfectly playable out of the box. Just a personal preference.
Guitar sounds great and plays great.
No buzzing no chocking out just a lovely telecaster sound.
Fairly light weight especially compared to my te52 which I absolutely love.
Colour is great not too bright and the double binding really sets it off.
I also have a classic vibe telecaster but my Harley Bentons always get a lot more attention.
I couldn’t be happier.
Telecaster.
