Harley Benton TE-70 Black Paisley 4-stars Reviews
Great guitar for the price
Great guitar for the price. Developed a crease and a crack on the bottom of the guitar around the controls. Doesn't affect the sound or function of guitar but is weird and strange. I have never had a guitar do that.
Excellent with a setup
I gigged for years with a tele and I do repairs and mods for people. I got this based on the specs and reviews. Good hardware, good finish, nice thick neck like a Fender. Not too heavy.
It arrived and it needed some work, the nut slots in particular. It also needed a thicker neck shim and a fret dressing as they were pretty rough. The stock strings were dull too...a new set made a huge difference
Now it's gone from a guitar that a buyer might have returned to what I consider a very good telecaster I could easily gig with...with an awesome paisley design.
I realise that it takes time to really finish off a guitar and make it playable and that this was an outrageously low cost for a decent guitar already, so I'm not criticising. I'm just sharing my experience. I'm very glad I bought it, but I'm also aware that someone who isn't able to do the work I've done might not be as pleased.
But I'd still recommend getting one, even if you have to take it to someone for a setup.
Had this guitar for a long time.Does the job
not bad for the blues type music
Beautiful guiatar!
First, its beautiful guitar and i love it form the first second. Gonna change switch and pickups (Wilkinson maybe),but for this ridiculously amount of money its great guitar. Buy it......
Tele Riffic
Bought this as a gift for a band member. The fit and finish are real nice. They couldn't believe how nice the guitar is and plays for the price.
nice tele
This is a very nice tele. Has a traditional chunky neck. I replaced the pickups but that is just a personal taste. Don't be afraid to pick this one up before they are gone.
same features as a reg tele nice finish and i prefer it to my classic vibe tele (3x the price of this tstyle)
If you don't mind a heavy guitar, KAPOW, this neck and neck pick up kick ass.
I bought this guitar because I wanted a paisley guitar, it was cheap, so I felt fine taking a chance to modify it. It came and I was very pleasantly surprised. It plays WAY WAY above its pay-grade. It is also the heaviest guitar I own. I still own it. The bridge pick up does not sound good on mine, might just be a bad luck fluke. The neck is as good as any 2000 dollar guitar. Fantastic. smooth. intonation is great, Neck pick up after adjusting is all out great. In that position it sounds like a 70's telecaster being played by Eric Clapton, back in his Blind Faith days with the right amp or modulation. I let everyone try it, first thing every time "that's not basswood, too heavy" second, "Are you kidding me, WOW" It really is a value. This is a great first guitar, as good as many much more expense guitars. Dads: you cant go wrong getting this as a 1st guitar for your child. Honestly I could sand off the name, and no one would question me if I said I had it made for me, after I replace the weak bridge pick up that is. Really really recommend at this price point. IF you cant afford a tele, this will fill the void in neck position. I mean that. 40 years playing, and I own lots of good guitars and have lots of experience.
Would have been nice if the guitar didn't have a twisted neck
The guitar came fast, felt pretty solid, had no sharp fret ends and all the controls felt pretty good in hand. The neck profile is quite nice and comfortable, i had originally thought my neck was twisted but after taking off the neck and putting a small impromptu shim in the pocket she now plays fantastically. How did they make such a nice little guitar cost this little?
first HB purchase, quite impressed
This was my first HB guitar purchase.
The production quality was very good, I have nothing of significance to complain about. I'm not one of those who goes through a new guitar with a microscope. I haven't seen, felt or noticed anything wrong with my copy, nothing that affects playability or sound.
The string action was set a bit too low for my taste, but that's a quick and easy adjustment. Otherwise the set-up was good.
My main complaint concerns the plastic covering on the pickguard, where the plastic protective film was tucket too far down into and under the neck pickup. It was somewhat annoying getting all the plastic out.
The sound is deep and woody, just what I was looking for. I mainly play ambient or "atmospheric" guitar, and this guitar works beautifully with delay, reverb and some mild overdrive. I would also say that it's a really good guitar for blues and jazz. The neck is easy to play on and I feel like it really invites you bend and have fun.
I don't think I would use this guitar for metal or hard-rock, it's not as "gain-y" as an Ibanez guitar, for example. The pickups on this guitar have instead a more darker and fuller sound to them.
So I'm fully pleased with my guitar and my purchase, and if the other HB guitars are as good as this one I will be quite eager to try another one.
Possibly pale paisley
For the money great, on mine the paisley print was cloudy / pale , just be aware of this! The tuners are not the best but
Other than that all in all a good guutar for the money,
In general, the guitar is very good, made with high quality, the neck is not bent, the frets do not scratch and the bridge did not have to be tuned. But at the slightest adjustment of the volume or timbre on the guitar, it starts to sound. I tried another wire and even another combo amplifier, but the problem still remained.
beautiful looking guitar, it sounded great but with some hum that you won't find on a Fender Tele, the frets I had to polish my
Besides the little flaws I mentioned and if they are take care by the company, its a great instrument worth to be giged.
All good
Feel, sound & weight - all good.
Happy camper
After seeing all the positive reviews on you tube I thought id give this a go and what a surprise it was, I havent put it down over the last two weeks, its a joy to play, I find the bridge pick up a bit brittle but backing off on the tone pot takes a bit of that away and its by no means a deal breaker. The neck on mine is very fast and smooth, overall id recommend this to anyone if it were twice the price, if youre in the uk this will be about 150 quid when the vat and shipping are added and at that price its an absolute steal. Forgot to mention it looks the business too, very nice finish.
Nice finish
Nice looks and good sound. I would recommend it.
Excellent Guitar
This guitar looks great and feels great. It also sounds great
too. It is heavy, but I usually associate that with better quality. The only thing that I've found, as a slight negative, was that the volume and tone pots were a bit crackly. However, a couple of sprays inside the potentiometers with electrical cleaner solved the problem. It was delivered to the UK with 7days, and came very well packaged, although customs had open the outer box. The guitar was delivered to my door by Parcel Force with no issues.
Good Looking Beginners Guitar
Needed to do minor set Adjustments, Over all quality is Good
3rd Harley Benton
I was so impressed with the first 2 HB ( SC-450 plus vintage and the ST-62MN SB) that I decided to end the year with one more. I ordered the TE-70 Paisley to round out my small collection, and while I like the guitar I was disappointed in a few things . First off (and the biggest issue for me) the switch knob fell off in my hands and would not stay on so had to fix that, the pick guard had scratches on it, even though it was covered in that plastic stuff and the strings were very dirty. Not the end of the world , it's not like I just spent 3000.00 or anything , it's black your going see stuff it's the nature of the beast, but if I did spend the 3000.00 on the real deal it would be totally unacceptable, you almost think it was used and returned,...anyway moving on. The paisley finish wasn't as nice as I thought it would be, looks like it's a poorly focused pic printed on paper then lacquered over top, which is probably exactly what it is, it just makes the guitar look cheap unlike the others. The weight is nice which is one of the reasons along with the bridge that I went with this one over the TE-52, which now I feel like I should of picked instead just for cosmetic reasons. Other that that some tuning and cleaning and its a nice guitar, sounds good and the fat neck doesn't bother me. The set up is good didn't need to adjust the action. Overall a good guitar just not great like the other two.
Great for the money
this guitar is great for the money, comes with a solid bridge and the fretwork is good for a 140 pound guitar. I would pick this over a squire of the same value, considering I own both. pickups have a distinct tele sound and are very clear and bright. awesome guitar.
