Harley Benton TE-70RW Deluxe Series 4-stars Reviews
Good guitar
A bit on the heavy side, but overall a good one
You Get What You Pay For
Overall aesthetics was great. Playability was what you'd expect from a guitar at this price. However still playable. Frets not levelled but I'm sure this has been resolved over the years. Great guitar for projects/modding and bedroom practice.
Bare bones nothing more both less
Don’t let the headline mislead you if you’re after well priced Tele style with a bit of weight to it this is for you mine has a slight issue with the g string tuning nut not holding after playing a song or two and the pickups have a buzz to them but I have plans to swap them at some point but it doesn’t bother me one bit for the price except one or two little things but take a chance on one and I’m sure you’ll be surprised at how it plays and sounds though a decent amp
This item arrived today.
Very good product! Thank you.
My first Telecaster guitar
A good quality instrument that came out of the box with a good setup.
The Rosewood veneer top and bottom are nice and the binding adds a nice touch to the overall appearance.
Very Good Guitar, potential Awesome, with minor Upgrades
Awesome, and very beautiful guitar, but it’s much darker in person. Still like it, but for a veneer, I was hoping to see more RW grain. Only thing I’m going to change, eventually, is the tuner’s, nut, and strap locks. I’m keeping the pickups, but upgrading the control plate, and putting 250k pots, and looking into a capacitor that will accomplish my playing style. I’m Extremely Pleased, and will keep buying Harley Bentons. I bought the SC-Custom Deluxe, that isn’t made anymore, but they actually do, but it’s the second generation. Looks the same, Black and Gold hardware, same woods, nut, and that’s all I can see. Also an Awesome guitar!
Slight unique experiennce
Love this Guitar. I have to admit it was weird at first. the neck is not the traditional T style neck. More like an Ibanez or Epiphone. Once e I accepted that I actually prefer it. Only think I changed was I installed a Brass nut. Highly recommend
Excellent value
I had to do a fair amount of work on the neck, but 2 years later she still stands up to my Ibanez Prestige and G&L. Ive decided she's a keeper and deserves new pups which are a bit lifeless. But for the money I paid? Outstanding.
Very good for it's price
The guitar's quality is very good exept one thing: the neck have a little horizontal bend. But still it's ok for a 150$ guitar.
The sound is VERY good, I like it so much, it's almost like Fender Telecaster but 20 times cheaper :)
Great Single Coil Tele for the price!
Overall, I am very content with this purchase, the finish was immaculate on this guitar and its hard to believe the price on this for what you get!
The only minor gripe was that the piece I received did not have the frets polished down smooth and the fretboard had some left over residue from the fretwork. I bought some fret polish and some fretboard oil and worked a bit on the neck. After doing that and setting it up how I like it, this plays beautifully well!
The lettering on the headstock is smeared! The tuners had to be replaced right away - they did not hold in tune! The neck mounting bar at the back is set crooked!
My first guitar, and happy
I am not a seasoned guitarist so I don't know what to look for in particular, but, this has everything I need. It makes sound and looks fantastic. There have been some issues with the volume knob but I can't say that's the guitar's fault and not the amp. For £150, I'm certain it's a steal.
Good guitar, but poor setup.
Guitar sounds great. The tuners stay in tune, but are clearly cheap. They do the job though. The finish, is good, but some small issues and inconsistencies ( as expected at the price point).
There is a lot of fret buss on the low E, and A string. Some high frets.
I would reccomend it, but get a good setup on it.
Great and beautiful guitar
After listening to and watching many reviews I decided to buy this rosewood tele style guitar. For under $200 what did I have to lose?? Excellent guitar and great tone. Beats any Squire or indonesia Fender hands down. Set up is also great!!
I love this guitar and have been gigging with it regularly.
You will not be disappointed
Outstanding mod platform
I did a full setup, installed locking tuners and a set of tonerider trt2 pickups and WOW! THIS now is my go to guitar. My paws are smaller size, so I removed some neck material to bring it to a medium "D" shape to fit my hand. Brand snobs would weep over how great his guitar is now. Great tele sound and the playability is better than a Fender. The quality control was very good on this particular guitar (better than some of my previous Harley Bentons). Oh yeah, and the rosewood may be a veneer, but it still looks great. I am very pleased. I have around $250.00 total in it, and it is a better guitar than my $500 G&L ASAT, which is a very good guitar. Go figure.
Love it!
Great fit and finish! does have a lot of 60 hz. buzz on bridge pickup. Could use some shielding. Easy fix at home.
Great ãguitar and sound
This is a slid guitar with an excellent feel and good authentic pickups, It does have its teething problems but it is comparable with a genuine Tele! I use it for practice or when I do not want to take my other fenders out....good stand in or second guitar
Generally good
Sounds good, twangy, tele-like. Impressed with the Roswell pickups.
Rosewood finish is very dark, looks black except under bright lighting.
Tuners work but with some hesitancy.
Frets themselves are very tarnished and in need of a good polish.
Few cosmetic blemishes, nothing too bad, some paint scrapes, some darker spots on the fretboard which look like they were filled.
Fretboard itself is very dark almost black.
Overall the guitar is good value for the price-point.
Very good and stable
I've tried a lot of Chinese guitars over the years. Most of those guitars were suffering from some cheap parts (particularly tuners, pots or switches) and sometimes very poor overall quality control (finish defects, fretwork, etc). Honestly my opinions of Chinese manufacturers were not very positive. This changed about 4 years ago when I saw a Dean Dimebag signature model made in China (the one with explosion graphics). Then last year when I tried another Chinese guitar (a Yamaha RGX-520 FZ), I started to think that China is going pro on electric guitars business... This HB Deluxe Tele is not different from those good Chinese guitars, if not better, considering price/quality ratio.
Pros:
- Price. You get a good guitar, cheaper than most of Fender SQ Tele models.
- Very nice grainy maple neck with glossy finish. Very fast & comfortable neck. İt is not meaty nor super slim, right in the middle, just like the original.
- Overall finish is almost perfect. I really liked the matching headstock too. Very good QC.
- String-thru body with good quality ferrules. Sustain is good and whole guitar is sonically very responsive.
- Bridge pickup. It is very microphonic and catches a lot of noise all around, but that's my personal choice. I like it dirty.. It almost acts like a P90 and I really love it. Pretty melodious for good old school rock or some country style finger-picking.
- Durable. Although tuners look cheap they are working well and guitar stays in tune perfectly; not once out of tune for about 2 hours of constant playing on stage.
- Double binding on the body (front and back). Looks absolutely gorgeous from every angle..
Cons:
- Fret sprout. Interestingly, only lower ends of the frets are sharp. Not sure there is a QC issue here; it might be the wood itself. If you ask me, fingerboard (or whole neck) probably shrunk from low humidity and left the fret ends open on one side. It is not a big deal for me, I have filed them little bit and they are now sitting with nice ends.
- Not sure about the authenticity of Wilkinson bridge, it feels very cheap.. I will probably change it. I may keep the saddles 'though, they are good quality.
I bought this one mainly for gigging purposes and it already proved itself. Maybe not a recording piece, but it is reliable guitar with nice looks and good playability. And with this price, I think it is a steal!
Great guitar for the money !!!
I like the sound, and the looks of it ! Great black-red finish !
