Harley Benton UK-10S Ukulele Reviews
Excellent for hobbyists
Great quality and lovely sound. Perfect for hobbyists or someone looking to start playing ukulele
Good quality product!
from day1, i felt the nice ergonomic handle which is comfy when you are new to playing ukulele like me.
Great wood and tones
Fab uke ,easy to play ,stays in tune ..give it a good soak in linseed oil and then lemon juice and so easy to play
Really good quality of sound.
good price
For the price it is good, what I don't like is that it can not keep tuned. I gave it to my girlfriend cause she wanted to learn, she has to tune it every time if she wants to play. Once in tune, sound is good. Perfect for beginners.
A real cheap uke
As a guitar player that occasionally wants a different sound i wanted a uke to play every so often. Obviously not being a full time player i didn't want to spend big so got the cheapest one from my local music shop. which can be played but is more a toy than an instrument.
This was the only REAL instrument i could find under 100AUD and it is spectacular.
Pros
looks great
natuaral satin wood finish feels nice to touch
Nice sound
ready to play out of the box, action is low but not too low to get fret buzz.
Cons
i'd prefer chrome tuning pegs over black plastic (note just the pegs are plastic the tuners are metal)
Perfect for school
I use these Ukulele's in the classroom. The students love them. Better size than the soprano in my opinion, especially for teenage boys! Sound quality is very good, considering the price. Will definitely be buying more.
Nice Uke
I have bought several of these for my students and recommend them all the time. Based on price they are great value
Good ukelele
I'm a beginner ukulele player and the fact is that I bought this for my girlfriend. This is a real instrument at a toy price. The tone is very nice and the sound is strong. This instrument was so cheap that when I ordered it I really wasn't expecting much, but what a nice surprise it has been! Sure there are a few spots of dodgy finishing work and the tuners needed a tightening, but overall this actually feels like a really solid instrument. So... If you take this for what is, a low budget instrument, it's quite surprising how good it sounds. Recommended. This is a really solid instrument and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a first ukelele or even just a cheap backup to lug around and not worry about it getting a bit beaten up. Thoroughly impressed!
Good for beginner
This is my first music instrument of any type. I am an absolute beginner.
Initially the strings got loosened easily and got out of tune frequently. Its only few days since i bought. I still find it not comfortable to hold. Sound is good for my level of expertise.
There were troubles with the delivery from UPS, but manageable.
Great little Uke
This plays very well and I really am enjoying for a beginners Uke. I have small hands and it's perfect for me. Also looks beautiful.
Nice sound, frets stick out
Nice little package, with the only gripe being the frets stick out on the sides of the fretboard. Actually they're sticking out more and more, so I assume the wood is shringing slightly.
Sound is nice, but needs some afterwork to have it playable
Very nice
Wonderful sound and excellent build quality for price.
Great starter Uke
I bought this for a friend who I convinced to take up Ukulele when she found guitar too difficult.
This Uke turned out to be excellent for the money. It came with a good action; very very good considering the cost. Sounds well, easy to play. Looks fine - doesn't look as cheap as it is.
The frets ends feel slightly rough if you rub your fingers over them, but you don't feel it when you're playing so it doesn't matter at all.
A great starter ukulele.
Good Ukulele
this is not the first and will not be the last time i bought and Harley Benton instrument. A good Ukulele at a good price.
Construction is very good and despite the low price point it does not feel cheap in the hand. neck is very comfortable and chord are easy to perform.
To my hears sound is very good, at this price point i can't figure what other Ukulele can beat the UK-10S. Definitely i'd put this one in the 150's euros price range, rich deep sound.
I'd recommend this one to anyone trying Ukulele for the first time or even to anyone wanting a second cheap one and not giving up in the sound
Best first Ukelele
This is the first Ukelele I have ever had. It is easy to play, looks good and it feels of good quality. I don't have any problems, the sound is loud enough. I use it all the item, taking it with me on vacations etc. I would suggest this to anybody that wants to have hands on an instrument like this.
Excellent product
An excellent instrument to begin with.
Sound remarkable
Quality excellent
Nice little bargain
This instrument was so cheap that when I ordered it I really wasn't expecting much, but what a nice surprise it has been! Sure there are a few spots of dodgy finishing work and the tuners needed a tightening, but overall this actually feels like a really solid instrument. I've recently taken up teaching the ukelele and wanted to upgrade from my rather toylike Falcon uke (that came free with a subscription to Guitar Techniques) for a while but didn't really want to take the plunge on one of the more upmarket models due to the price. After reading a few reviews of the harley benton I thought I'd give it a shot. This is a really solid instrument and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a first ukelele or even just a cheap backup to lug around and not worry about it getting a bit beaten up. Thoroughly impressed!
Good for the price.
As with so many cheaper ukuleles, this one has a rather thick lid wich makes it sound a little bit like a diminutive guitar and a little less like a proper ukulele. But truth be told: this goes for a lot of other brands too (eg: ibanez, samick, lanikai..) and for most people, the difference in timbre is so small that it hardly matters. But don't expect it to sound exactly like something more expensive built on Hawaii.
This instrument a VERY good starting point if you want to learn the ukulele. You'll have to file the nut slots a bit to get proper intonation on the first couple of frets, but this is also true for those other brands mentioned earlier.
