Harley Benton UK-10S Ukulele 4-stars Reviews
Great wood and tones
Fab uke ,easy to play ,stays in tune ..give it a good soak in linseed oil and then lemon juice and so easy to play
Good ukelele
I'm a beginner ukulele player and the fact is that I bought this for my girlfriend. This is a real instrument at a toy price. The tone is very nice and the sound is strong. This instrument was so cheap that when I ordered it I really wasn't expecting much, but what a nice surprise it has been! Sure there are a few spots of dodgy finishing work and the tuners needed a tightening, but overall this actually feels like a really solid instrument. So... If you take this for what is, a low budget instrument, it's quite surprising how good it sounds. Recommended. This is a really solid instrument and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a first ukelele or even just a cheap backup to lug around and not worry about it getting a bit beaten up. Thoroughly impressed!
Good for beginner
This is my first music instrument of any type. I am an absolute beginner.
Initially the strings got loosened easily and got out of tune frequently. Its only few days since i bought. I still find it not comfortable to hold. Sound is good for my level of expertise.
There were troubles with the delivery from UPS, but manageable.
Great little Uke
This plays very well and I really am enjoying for a beginners Uke. I have small hands and it's perfect for me. Also looks beautiful.
Nice sound, frets stick out
Nice little package, with the only gripe being the frets stick out on the sides of the fretboard. Actually they're sticking out more and more, so I assume the wood is shringing slightly.
Sound is nice, but needs some afterwork to have it playable
Good Ukulele
this is not the first and will not be the last time i bought and Harley Benton instrument. A good Ukulele at a good price.
Construction is very good and despite the low price point it does not feel cheap in the hand. neck is very comfortable and chord are easy to perform.
To my hears sound is very good, at this price point i can't figure what other Ukulele can beat the UK-10S. Definitely i'd put this one in the 150's euros price range, rich deep sound.
I'd recommend this one to anyone trying Ukulele for the first time or even to anyone wanting a second cheap one and not giving up in the sound
Good for the price.
As with so many cheaper ukuleles, this one has a rather thick lid wich makes it sound a little bit like a diminutive guitar and a little less like a proper ukulele. But truth be told: this goes for a lot of other brands too (eg: ibanez, samick, lanikai..) and for most people, the difference in timbre is so small that it hardly matters. But don't expect it to sound exactly like something more expensive built on Hawaii.
This instrument a VERY good starting point if you want to learn the ukulele. You'll have to file the nut slots a bit to get proper intonation on the first couple of frets, but this is also true for those other brands mentioned earlier.
Good Uke, needs a little setup work.
I bought this uke as a gift for my stepson. It is very well built for the price, with a solid spruce top, well finished frets and machine heads which work smoothly. The sound is also good, but the nut needed a little attention in order for the uke to play comfortably and in tune. The nut slots were on the high side, which made the uke hard to play in the lower positions and also caused the intonation to be sharp. While it was a quick job to deepen the slots so that the uke played comfortably, beginners buying this uke may not be aware of this. However, I have seen similar setup issues on other low priced ukes, so overall the Harley Benton is still a good buy.
Perfect for starters !
Our daughter couldn't get on with an acoustic guitar so we bought her this relatively cheap Uke as a starter instrument. She mastered it really quickly and has gone one to play a proper acoustic guitar. This is a good Uke that stays in tune and looks nice too. 5 stars !
Nice uke!
Got yesterday this soprano ukulele. Never played one. As a guitarist I had to adapt. I like the easy playing touch and good tuning pegs. Finishing quality is as good as usually with Harley Benton.
I try to learn some skills before the next concert in January.
Going to try somebody's tenor after this one.
Luckily I have sort of small fingers. Can't recommend soprano uke to big-handed dudes.
Uneven quality
I have bought two of this. The first had a great soundboard with even grains. The second had not the same quality on the soundboard, but very good craftmanship. Good tuners. A very nice ukulele. I will buy more of this. Fot the price it's a bargain.
Harley Benton UK-10S Ukelele
Purchased for my daughter ( a violin graduate aged 21) for Christmas and she is delighted with it. Very well made, excellent value for money in my opinion, lovely wood and good fittings, light as a feather but has a lovely mellow sound when played.
Great for the money
I'm not a hardcore ukulele player and the fact is that I bought this for my son. I thought that he should have a "real" instrument and not one of the sorry excuses you can buy at the toy stores.
This is a real instrument at a toy price. The tone is very nice and the sound is strong. My own Bruko does sound a tad better and the finish is also better, but the UK-10S is not far behind and cost 1/3 of my Bruko.
So... If you take this for what is, a low budget instrument, it's quite surprising how good it sounds. Recommended.
