Harley Benton Ultimate Drive Reviews
Good Pedal, small problem
I ordered this pedal to add some heaviness to my rig, but I found one problem the power supply wouldn't stay, it would cut out randomly and I'd have to push it into my amp.
OCD on a budget
Easy to get great tone on both guitar and bass - definitely grab one
What i expected for the price.
I was looking for a good but cheap distortion pedal for bass that also worked for guitar and this is what i found. Gives a quite good sound on its own (with good metal bass strings) and works on guitar. The foot switch feels kinda cheap but what can i expect, its cheap.
Overall pretty good
I use it to boost the sound mostly, but it gives a good and deep crunchy tone and i like it
Absolutely lovely tone but needs either a battery or a good PSU
Bought this as a simple OD for my bass (PJ 4 string) and it is beastly, anything below A1 gets affected less but still cuts through and above it it's a powerful motorheady distortion.
For me it works best with the knobs set between 9 and 12, higher settings might fit a guitar better or just a different style.
Only issues i have is that the volume boost is very potent so if you're switching between clean and dirt you have to really balance out a sweetspot, and more importantly if you're using a cheap PSU it's far too noisy, but isn't an issue with either a battery or a dedicated wall nugget. Have yet to try a more expensive PSU (I'm buying a 30€ pedal if i had money for a good PSU I'd buy different pedals)
The best for the budget
In my opinion, its the best overdrive for the budget
really good overdrive pedal.
I bought this pedal to be used as a boost pedal from my amp. After using it for a while i can say that it has a great sound and i have been using it on many of my recordings as an overdrive pedals with my clean channel and as a boost on my overdrive channel with excellent results. i do recommend this pedal and i am pleasantly surpriced
Definitely recommend this
I’ll make this nice and short. Sounds great Feels good and for the price can’t go wrong
Surpisingly good on bass
But I only use it for lower-gain stuff
Excellent budget alternative
This is a budget version of the famous fulltone OCD, which if I am not mistaken is now no longer in production as of 2023.
The tone is heavy, the build quality is solid, and the price is fantastic. The art decal may put some off but the tones you can get for the price will surely compensate that.
Great OD for the price.
Bought this pedal as I was looking for a OD pedal with a little more bite. Most reviews make comparisons between this pedal and the famous OCD pedal. It's hard to disagree with the comparison. This pedal has a huge amount of gain on tap. I usually play blues/ rock and I have way more gain available than I'll need. But with the drive turned back it has that lovely, crisp that I like. If you're looking for another pallette of colour on you pedal board, it's hard to beat at this price.
cool pedal.low price ocd
Love the dirty sound
I really like how this pedal makes my guitar sound dirty and powerful, especially for punk music.
Surprising
Rather than buying an OCD I decided to get this and few more pedals for the same price as one OCD. This thing is dirt cheap so I thought it would probably be terrible quality and sounds awful, but why not.
So you can see that I wasn't expecting anything much from the Ultimate Drive.
It's appreciate to say that something punches above its weight, but this thing really does. It sounds good, it feels sturdy and well-made.
It sounds much like OCD, unsurprisingly, and it has to true bypass.
I can honestly not find anything to complain about.
Except maybe the name, Ultimate Drive....
Great starter pedal
I wanted something cheap to test out with my practice amp and I found this to be a great pedal without breaking the bank. Minimal settings but does the job nicely. We’ll made too!
My favourite pedal.
We all know that this is an OCD clone.
I have never tried the OCD pedal, but this particular one is my favourite pedal for DOOM METAL. I use this in combination with the HB vintage overdrive (to boost treble and to add a bit of gain) and I bring the distortion to exact level that i like.
I does not have a lot of distortion but it has quality sound and a lot of tone control.
Great price, great pedal
Sounds verrrrry similar to the POG for a fraction of a fraction of the price. Reliable consistent sound so far using with a bass guitar, minimal background noise, and high quality finish with a wrap around metal casing. Highly recommend getting this if youre on a budget.
it is better than most of the boss pedals and it's a lot cheaper just give it a try
No complaints.
A standard overdrive pedal. Nothing unusual. HB pedals in this line don't last as long as boss stuff in my experience. Cheaper tho.
Chunky, dark, thick.
A nice overdrive for those preferring a darker kind of tone than the more mid rangy "green" ones out there.
Very responsive tone knob, and quite the range on the gain knob as well. This pedal can deliver anything from the standard clean boosts, to chunking up your solo tones or just being used to get glassier cleans or just straight up heavy overdrive by itself.
